Integrated Development Environment: AmiDevCpp 0.9.5
The integrated development environment AmiDevCpp from Heinz-Raphael Reinke is available now as version 0.9.5. With this IDE it is possible to create programs for MS Windows, AmigaOS, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS/x86.

Highlight of this version is a revised SDK with many features at ZUNE (MUI) for the AROS/x86-compiler. Furthermore there is a functional support for C++ now. In general a few example projects for certain platforms were added to the index "Examples".

Besides the update there is a survey at the homepage. With this survey it should be investigated which cross compilers are really in use. Your participation is highly appreciated, because unused compilers could be cancelled or replaced with other target platforms in future. (snx) (Translation: ts)

Amiga-Klon: Status update of Minimig
Dennis van Weeren, developer of the FPGA-based Amiga 500 clone Minimig (amiga-news.de reported), describes the current project status in a thread at amiga.org:

The board layout is finished now, meanwhile van Weeren is working at the routing. Later on a first small amount is produced for own demands.

It is not van Weeren's intention to use Minimig for commercial purposes, the whole documentation including the firmware is planned to be released under the GPL. (cg) (Translation: ts)

AmigaOS 4: Video-/DVD-Player DvPlayer 0.54
Steohen Fellner provides a new version of a video- and DVD player "DvPlayer". Changes since the last release:
  • Added direct DVD support
  • Added automatic detection of CD/DVD drive (no need to specify device name/unit anymore)
  • Added support for the new 64bit DOS functions so that files >2GB are now handled correctly
  • Implemented the I/O plugin system and moved the DVD/VideoCD support to an external plugin
  • Screen Blanker is now not allowed to activate while playing
  • Implemented AppWindow support so files can be dragged onto DvPlayer's window
  • Now the previous filename is remembered in the file requester when opening files
  • Window is now opened on the frontmost screen (if it's public) instead of the Workbench screen so that if it's started from a different screen it will open there.
  • Improved 6-Channel to Stereo audio conversion routines to avoid distortions which appeared with a few DVDs
  • Fixed NOTRIPLEBUFFER option (was broken when subtitle support was added)
  • Fixed sound distortions with interleaved AVI files
  • Now ensures that only complete frames are sent to the video decoder for AVI files. This should fix the problems with partially downloaded AVI files.
  • Fixed a bug in the subtitle code which caused memguard hits
  • Fixed a serious bug in GUI loading (thanks to memguard)
  • Fixed a nasty bug in the exit code which could cause random crashes
