PPC hardware: Troika unveils detailed specifications for the "Amy'05"
Troika announced the detailed specification of the Amy'05 in two press releases at amigaworld.net (1, 2):
The used CPU will be an IBM 750GL(800 MHz, 1 MB L2 cache), which will be soldered directly to the motherboard. The 800 MHz version offers teh best price/performance ratio, but the board might be used with cpus up to GHz. The processor and case fans will be driven temperature dependent.
The Tundra TSI107 will be used as northbridge. One of the twopci slots is clocked at 66 MHz and intened to house teh gfx card. That slot is connected by a bridge chip the TSI107 system bus(33 Mhz).
The Southbridge will be an AMD Geode CS5536, which will be connected by a bridge chip (PLX technology PCI 6150) to the system bus, too. properties of the Geode CS5536:
- AC97 Codec interface
- A single channel IDE port
- An additional 16C550 UART
- Real time Clock and CMOS RAM
- Additional USB 2.0 ports
- PC 82XX legacy timers
The AC97 codec will be, as announced already, an AD1888 by Analog Devices.
Additionally the motherboard will have a so called "Geekport" whichis an 8 bit interface for e.g. custom or Amiga specific expansions. This port will sport the following features:
- memory mapped
- provides a basic I/O port
- can generate interrupts
- provides user defined I/O
A (non working) prototype of that motherboards will be shown coming weekend at the BigBash 4, England. According to the developer minor issues are resolved currently and a first very limited production will be started soon to do intensive hardware tests and to adopt OS4 to the board. Troika NG: Soundmax codec chosen for Amy'05
As Troika announced in the following press release they chose the AD1888 by Analog Devices for the announced Amy'05 board that is distributed under the trademark Soundmax.
Press release - Troika NG would like to announce that we have chosen a fine industry standard AC97 codec, the AD1888 manufactured by Analog Devices, marketed under the Soundmax® brand. The sound codec is used in our Project “Prometheus”/ Amy’05.
This fine device brings many features (including AD’s special filters) used in Asus motherboards and Creative products, etc., to the Amiga community.
In our design we use 6 audio connectors to provide a full surround sound system: Front, Left side, Right side, Center, Surround Sound via audio jacks and an SPDIF output through a standard RCA connector. We also include an internal Intel™ HD-Audio standard header for case connections and so much more!
Some technical details: “The AD1888 is a 6 channel (supporting 5.1 surround sound) AC'97 2.3 compatible codec. It features SPDIF output, variable sample rates, 20-bit DACs, and multiple stereo analog inputs along with many cost saving features including: integrated headphone amplifiers, selectable microphone inputs with built-in preamplifiers, jack sensing (with auto-topology switching), hardware channel spreading and downmixing, as well as crystal-free operational modes.” (snx) (Translation: wk)

Envy24 v5.3 to support M-Audio-Delta soundcards
The OS4 native driver Envy24 supports in version 5.3 that has just been uploaded to the OS4depot the semi professional soundcards
M-Audio
Delta 44, 66 (untested) and 1010LT as well as the Terratec Phase 88. Right now is the funcionality, among other things the multiple in and outputs, limited by the sound system AHI, but the sound quality is very good, as the developer said who recommends the activating of the HiFi Stereo++ mode.
