AROS: Cairo as 2D graphic system suggested
Robert Norris, who's currently working on a webKit port for AROS to bring an up-to date browser to this operating system (amiga-news.de reported), tells in his blog that he ported the graphic library Cairo to AROS.

Additionally he suggests to use Cairo as general 2D graphic system for AROS and to reimplemt the graphics.library new using Cairo. (snx)

Obligement: Update of Amiga Games List
The "Amiga Games List" of the magazine Obligement has been completed with 1000 new entries and has now 12673 games, level editors, file disks, expensions and interpreters. According to Obligement this list is the most extensive one on Internet. Changes in issue 37:
  • The list contains 12673 entries
  • The list is now in english
  • Addition of a help page (you can contribute at the list)
  • Split of the "Developers / Editors" column into two new column: "Developers" (the one who create the game) and "Publishers" (the one who publish the game)
  • In the "RTG" column, addition of the mention "(RTG)" to indicate partially RTG games or which could run on graphic board but which requires confirmation
  • In the "License" column, addition of the GPL3 license
  • Programs requiring a postcard or a specific object (chocolate, model railroad,...) are not included any more in the "freeware" license but in the "giftware" license
  • In the "Language" column, addition of games created with LUA, GrimE, AmigaDOS, Parallaction and Scala
  • In the "Language" column, engines/interpreters/constructors are between brackets to differentiate them from real programming languages

The latest version of AmigaAnywhere facilitates rich-media content featuring extraordinary audio-visual quality, high-speed interactive gaming, education and entertainment anytime, anywhere. "The Amiga world has waited long enough," said Bill McEwen, President of Amiga Inc. "AmigaAnywhere is the step forward we've been diligently pursuing, making it easy to instantly and safely run all types of content on their favorite devices. Database: MUIbase 2.3
Steffen Gutmann has published an update of his database MUIbase. Version 2.3 now supports UTF-8. Additionally there are versions for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS. The changes:
  • Fully open source (GPL) including Linux and Windows versions
  • AmigaOS4 version by Alexandre Balaban
  • MorphOS version by Ilkka Lehtoranta
  • French translation of documentation by Alexandre Balaban
  • UTF-8 support. MUIbase project files are stored using UTF-8 encoding. This requires the "codesets.library" to be installed on the system
  • Mason icon set
  • Option to include/exclude GUI elements from focus cycle chain
  • New constant for programming: OSTYPE which is either "Unix", "Windows" or "Amiga"
  • New option for FORMATMEMO allowing to define sections as single lines
  • Automatic update of virtual attributes when a dependent attribute is changed or a record in a dependent table is added or deleted
  • Added option for keeping aspect ratio when scaling images
  • Improved handling for fixed and scrollable images
  • Support read-only boolean attributes correctly
  • Removed custom MUI classes from installer archive
  • Several bug fixes and little improvements

MorphOS: amrss 5.55
Alfonso Ranieri has published an update of his RSS viewer amrss for MorphOS.

Event: CommVEx 4 on July 26/27 (USA)
The Commodore Vegas Expo 4 is set for Saturday and Sunday, July 26/27, at the third floor Jockey Room 1, Plaza Hotel & Casino, 1 Main Street, Las Vegas, Nevada. Official times are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Unofficial times are whenever the Jockey Room 1 door is open.

Admission is $10, whether you come for one day or for both days. Raffle prize tickets are one for $10, three for $20. Door prize tickets are given to each attendee. Eight to ten Commodore and Amiga systems are set up for attendees to use. Presentations and exhibits are still being lined up. (snx)
