AmigaOS 4: Several MIDI-libraries and tools
Lyle Hazelwood has published an update of the camd.library, which for the first time has been completely adapted to AmigaOS 4 and therefore is 60% smaller than the previous versions which were ported from AROS. Additionally some minor bugs were fixed.
In order to complete the new version of the library, Hazelwood additionally has published new versions of the CAMD Tools and of the USB-MIDI driver. Finally he has published the MIDI-Player as well as SoftSyn which is a software synthesizer which can play MIDI-tracks without MIDI-hardware.

AmigaOne X1000: Delivery of second batch from July till December (Update)
As AmigaKit announces at the title link as well as in an e-mail sent yesterday to all potential buyers registered with them, production of the second batch of A-EON Technology's AmigaOne X1000 will be finished this month. Therefore, these First Contact computers will be assembled and shipped starting in July on a first-come, first-served basis in order of registration and deposit of 425 Pound Sterling.
The second batch will include new firmware and driver updates, which will be made available to existing customers as well. Details on this will be announced later. Presumably unintended, the way of sending the e-mail also disclosed that in addition to purchasers of the first batch, there seem to be at least 150 users currently interested in also buying an AmigaOne X1000.

Event: Commodore Vegas Expo 2012 (USA)
Robert Bernardo writes: "The 2012 Commodore Vegas Expo v8, a.k.a. CommVEx, is coming July 28-29 to the Las Vegas Club Hotel, 18 Fremont St., Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A.
Once again we are looking forward to a good show with an international group of attendees enjoying the Commodores and Amiga computers that will be exhibited. Members of the Fresno Commodore User Group, Clark County Commodore Computer Club (of Las Vegas), the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network, and the Portland Commodore User Group will be swarming in.

MorphOS: Tweaks for improving speed and reducing memory usage (german)

MorphOS 3.0 released: PowerBook support & special pricing
Today, version 3.0 of the PowerPC operating system MorphOS has been released, which does also support notebooks for the first time. Additionally, from now on - among others - those source codes derived from AROS can be downloaded directly from the MorphOS homepage.
The update is free for owners of MorphOS 2.x keyfiles and includes the CD/DVD authoring application Jalapeno, the FTP/SFTP client Transfer, an updated Odyssey Web Browser, new Reggae classes and the Reggae-based music player Jukebox.

"The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 3.0, the first ever public version to install on portable computers, specifically PowerBook G4 machines. In addition to the extended hardware support, users will benefit from various new features, enhancements and bug fixes. For an overview of the included changes, please read our release notes.
To celebrate the much anticipated release of MorphOS 3.0, we are furthermore offering special three-tier pricing. The prices for a keyfile are 111.11 EUR for one PowerBook G4 system, 79 EUR for one eMac, Mac mini G4, Pegasos I, Pegasos II or PowerMac G4, and 49 EUR for one EfikaPPC system.
We strongly urge owners of PowerBook G4 computers to carefully read our installation and troubleshoot guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. MorphOS: Python 2.7.3 and Mercurial 2.2.2
At the title link, Guillaume 'Yomgui' Roguez released version 2.7.3 of the programming language Python as a shared library for MorphOS. Also available is his port of the Python-based source code management tool Mercurial.
For now, the latter supports HTTP(S) communication only, SSH will follow once the corresponding Python module is available. (snx)

AVCodec-Plugin 1.1 published
Press release: An update of the AVCodec plugin for Hollywood 5: Infinity has just been released. This update fixes some problems with WMV video files. A new feature is that the plugin now establishes a gateway to Hollywood's sound stream interface so that Hollywood can now play audio files supported by the FFMPEG codec collection as well, for example M4A/AAC (used by iTunes). This is especially useful on systems like AROS and Linux because Hollywood doesn't support MP3 playback on these platforms by default.
You can download the plugin from the official Hollywood portal. Thanks to Hollywood 5.0's cross-platform plugin system versions for AmigaOS3 (Classic), AmigaOS3 (FPU), AmigaOS4, MorphOS, WarpOS, AROS (Intel), Linux (PowerPC), Linux (Intel), Mac OS (PowerPC), Mac OS (Intel) and Windows are provided.

AROS: Janus-UAE 1.2
With Oliver 'o1i' Brunner's Janus-UAE for AROS/x86 you can start AmigaOS programms under AROS. The original Kickstart-3.1-files are required.
Version 1.2 fixes four bugs of the previous version and is also included in the AROS-distribution Icaros Desktop 1.4.2.

YAM: Planned changes in version 2.8 and next versions
Four days ago the main developers of the eMail programm YAM, Thore Böckelmann and Jens Langner, met to discuss the further development of this software. Under the title link you can find the results of this meeting.
As a result version 2.8 is making good progress and therefore could be be published before this Christmas. But they complained that developers for the MorphOS version as well as for all AROS versions are missing. More translators would be welcome as well.

AROS: Turrican clone Hurrican
Hurrican is a clone of the well-known Turrican. Georg Steger has ported the SDL-version of the game to AROS.
The AROS-port currently is a debug version. Additionally Hurrican requires hardware accelerated OpenGL.

Apollo accelerator boards: Purchase of Mach-131-Chips possible
On request by a petition Individual Computers offers all interested users Mach-131- and EPROM-Chips for Apollo-1260 accelerator boards for 150 Euro each plus shipping as spare parts.
Yet Jens Schönfeld emphasized that he would prefer that the existing Apollo boards may little by little be taken out of service because they to impact negatively the system stability. His offer therefore means that there will be no support for Amigas with an Apollo board any longer.
After 267 sold chip upgrades Jens Schönfeld offers the opportunity to release the Jedec-file of the Mach-131 of the Apollo 1260 for non-commercial purposes.

Pictures: Amiga 4000/060 with 100 MHz
After André 'Ratte' Pfeiffer succeeded in overclocking an Amiga 4000 with 68060-processor to 90 MHz (amiga-news.de reported) he now succeeded in overclocking an Apollo-4060 accelerator board to 100 MHz.
According to him the CPUs of revision 6 have a dispersion of 90-115 MHz. You can find some pictures of the computer and some information under the title link as well as links to overclocking hints for Apollo-4060- and -1260 accelerator boards. (snx) (Translation: dr)

AMOS-Reimplementation: jAMOS and XAMOS 0.24
jAMOS and XAMOS are now available in version 0.24 vor.
Changes (jAMOS):
- Various more bug fixes and code refactoring in line with XAMOS 0.24
- Can now translate AMAL and AMAL EnvGen code into C++ as well as Java, in line with XAMOS's new AMAL support
Changes (XAMOS):
- AMAL is now implemented in line with jAMOS 0.24, including AMAL Environment Generator. All AMAL examples from jAMOS are added and runnable in XAMOS
- Can translate AMAL (and EnvGen) code into both C++ and Java
- Much code refactoring and debugging
- Removed default startup sound for run-only version (too irritating)
- A console-based launcher is added for launching all 40 included examples, along with a batch file
