AROS: Broadway-X-Distribution for Raspberry Pi
Pascal Papara has published a SD-card-image of his AROS-distribution Broadway-X for the ARM-based Raspberry Pi (amiga-news.de reported on it).
Because he himself does not own such a computer and his distribution he can only adapt under the slow Qemu-emulation, the image boots instead of into an automatic login into the command line. In order to start AROS Broadway you have to enter "startx".
With the command "lx" Linux programms can be launched from the AROS. The next features will be automatic integration of devices, exchange of some installed applications and a upgrade to Debian Wheezy.

MorphOS: NTFS-3G-Dateisystem R3
Leif Salomonsson has updated the NTFS-3G-driver for the MorphOS-implementation of the FUSE-frameworks, Filesysbox. Version 3 now also supports partition sizes bigger than 1 TiB and more. Additionally a bug was fixed which caused a crash if a NTFS-disk was inserted before the OS was booted.

AROS: 68k-Distribution AROS Vision 1.3
Olaf Schönweiß has updated his AROS/68k-distribution. It is a mix of AROS and AmigaOS software (video, tutorial). In version 1.3 among others DOpus4 and Frying Pan were added.
The next steps will concern the sections Internet and emulators (version 1.4) as well as in the final version (1.5) Samba/network, demos, additional tools and improvements.
Changes in version 1.3:
- Many new CLI-commands (e.g. concerning Public Screens)
- DOpus4
- CreativE (Amiga-E)
- Dice
- PowerD (latest version of the author)
- MUIBase
- Midi.library
- Frying Pan (still not tested)

PPC-Hardware: Status update for UltimatePPC
Last Saturday in Maarssen the meeting of the Commodore Gebruikersgroep took place which also was visited by the two developers of the PPC-extension UltimatePPC which was announced some weeks ago. One of the members have uploaded some pictures to amiga.org and have given a short summary of the current status of the project:
- Hardwarewise the PPC side is working and booting. The 68040 side works, but does not yet talk to the classic hardware. The card does run, standalone. But the Amiga will not boot yet with the card inserted. [editor's note: This would mean that both processors obviously are more integrated than it seemed at the first announcement].
- Active talks with Hyperion for supporting AmigaOS4.x.
- Driver support: lots of help pledged for building drivers for all the hardware goodies (more help is always welcome!).
- Support for WarpUp/WarpOS through support pledged by the original author.
- The MicroSD card on the UltimatePPC holds the firmware/bootcode. This is indended to stay. That means upgrading/flashing the card can be done with a normal PC and a card reader... !!
Editor's note: The QorIQ P1013 Power-Processor which is used on the UltimatePPC contains a FPU which is not compatible with processors used in other Amiga-PPC-projects. According to our information this would mean that - supposed WarpOS or AmigaOS 4 would be adapted to UltimatePPC - no other existing PPC-software would run on this hardware and the PPC-programms have to be adapted to the UltimatePPC by the developers.

AmigaOS 4: glUAE 20120616
glUAE is a collection of scripts which "makes the emulation experience perfectly natural by transparently integrating the emulator into the system, thanks to the AmigaOS flexibility and the UAE configurability."
Changes:
- Added direct WHDLoad support
- Allowed to indicate an alternative UAE executable on a per-application basis
- Allowed to choose at startup:
- The boot file, if no startup-sequence is found
- A hardfile, if more than 1 is found
- A UAE configuration, if none is found
- The UAE executable, if the default/application-specific one is not found
- Reworked the images mounting: when a specific image is specified for DF0:, the next 1, 2 or 3 images in the same directory are mounted to DF1:-DF3: in alphabetical order. (before DF1:-DF3: would get the first other 3 images in absolute)
- Made the determination of the application form depend first of all on the input file type
- Given the user more feedback in case of errors
- Renamed the "first-run" splash screen as "first-launch"
- Replaced the installer with a brand-new, AmigaOS-standard
installer/reinstaller/uninstaller
- Made several internal improvements
- Extended/reworked the documentation

Event: Computer game competetion in Koszalin (Poland)
In connection with the Japanese culture festival in Koszalin an exhibition of classic computer and consoles as well as game competition will take place on 28./29. July. Among others the Amiga 1200 as well as the Amiga CD³² will be presented.

MorphOS / AmigaOS 4: AMOS-Reimplementation XAMOS 0.242 (Update)
The latest alpha version of XAMOS which is an AMOS-reimplementation based on C++ and SDL is available. It supports the sub-language AMAL and is also available for MorphOS and AmigaOS 4.

Sam 460ex: Setup-Utility for better performance
Max 'm3x' Tretene by ACube Systems has published Sam460ex_setup which is a little programm for improving the performance of these PowerPC-boards. It is started from WBStartup or the user-startup sequence. In the future with an AmigaOS-4.1-kernel would be not necessary any longer.
With the programm, "Store Gathering" is enabled in CCR0-register. Thereby the write performance of data for PCI-Express graphic boards is doubled (up to 320 MB/s for Radeon X1950 and up to 300 MB/s for a Radeon HD 4650). PCI-boards will get a performance increase by 50%.

AmigaOS 4: English dictionary WordNet 3.4
WordNet is a database of the English language. The port for AmigaOS 4 was written by Daniel Jedlicka (Screenshot). For audio output the flite.device is required.
Changes:
- New: WordNet can now operate in two different user modes. The default "Learner" mode only displays sense overviews, providing an easier and faster access to word meanings. When in this mode, WordNet looks and works like a traditional electronic dictionary. The more advanced "Linguist" mode shows all possible linguistic information about the searched words
- New: The Preferences window now replaces the original Settings menu
- New: Pop-up gadget and menu in the window bar (OS4.1 Update 3 required)
- New: WordNet can now be pushed to any currently opened public screen using the jump-to-screen feature (OS4.1 Update 3 required), accessible from the pop-up menu
- Update: The program no longer relies on an external viewer (such as MultiView) to display its help file. Online help is now provided using AmigaGuide Library
- Update: Optimized GUI initialization: the program now starts up a bit faster
- Update: Major code overhaul with numerous little fixes and optimizations

AROS: 68k-Distribution AROS Vision 1.2
Olaf Schönweiß has updated his AROS/68k-distribution. It is a mix of AROS and AmigaOS software. In version 1.2 further games, thr browser AWeb, Scalos, the programming language Amiga-Python as well as PDF-support (aPDF) were added.
The next features which will be added are listed below. Additionally the website will be completed with information (e.g. about the compatibilities - Hollywood 5.0 works fine).

MorphOS: Odyssey Web Browser 1.17
Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly has published a new update of the WebKit-Engine based web browser Odyssey for MorphOS. Odyssey now can to memorise form entries (e.g. login data) and can complete the form the next time it is called. The function can be activated in the preferences, calltips.mcc is required which is included in MorphOS 3.0 or MorphOS SDK.
