Günter Bartsch (Mail)

BASIC compiler: AQB 0.8.2
By his compiler AQB, Günter Bartsch aims to implement a modern, clean, Amiga compatible and future-proof BASIC that is geared to, but no clone of Microsoft's AmigaBASIC and QuickBASIC, respectively (amiga-news.de reported).

About the new version 0.8.2 (detailed changelog) the author stated:

"The new features and changes correspond to a colorful hodgepodge, because I have essentially worked through the wishes and especially the bug reports of the users, which came in large numbers since the last release. New features were mainly in the runtime: for example, there are now instructions and functions for the sound output. There are also new tutorials and a simple music demo program:

The input/output system has undergone a significant overhaul, the runtime now provides the complete set of instructions and commands for text input and output both on the screen and in files (though support for direct access and binary files is still missing). Furthermore I added some functions for string processing, also here the runtime is now much more complete than before.

The bug fixes run through all areas, but central are the numerous bug fixes in the compiler, which should significantly improve both the stability of the compiler itself and the quality of the generated code." (dr)

Tetris variant: Drag & Drop
'Drag & Drop' (Video) is a Tetris variant where blocks aren't falling down from the top of the screen, instead the player has to put them on on the playfield using Drag'Drop himself. The game can be downloaded for free, it is possible to pay a user-defined fee to the author before starting the download. (cg)

Amigaland: 324 games online
At the beginning of the new year, Mirko Engelhardt writes about achievements and future plans:
"We now have 324 games online, of which 28 games are also available on CD 32 or CD, plus 86 PD games. We've never had this many games online before. That was a real feat in 2021 and also already in January 2022. We will continue to expand that: Promise! The goal is to have at least 600 downloads in total this year. This includes the PD stuff. For apps, we want to increase to at least 10 (currently 4), and for demos to 40 (currently 18). Also in focus are the books, which we want to give to the respective history offers. Just rummage around and you will increasingly find what you are looking for. A goal for 2022 is also the presentation of all companies that support Amigaland so far (that will be hard :)) If you have any other wishes, please let us know. We will then also do that :)" (dr)

Hyperion blog apparently hacked by spammers
At the end of 2010, Hyperion had introduced a "developer blog" to inform users about current events around AmigaOS 4. The last official contributions date back to 2017, from then technical director Costel Mincea. Then in November, The Ultimate Guide To Online Dating was the first entry that had a recognizably unofficial character. Since the beginning of the year, there has been an update on Windows and related topics every few days, each with links to download portals and similar offers well hidden in the text. (cg)
