Hello all Grex-user's... or potetientally Grex-user's. Time to start up setting little more speed on this messageboard, or what do You think ? My name is Gunne Steen and is an Amigadealer (GGS-Data) in Sweden in Europe. As being for a little holiday in Europe and also Germany for a short meeting with friends at Vesalia Computer in Hamminkeln I meet Mr Tomas Dellert from DCE and was then invited by him to come to his house and also to his office and workingplace and factory, where DCE amongst other things also produce Amigaproducts, to see the first alfaversion of WinTV-driver, produced by Frank Mariak, for Grex. Well, what to say about this, it was of course very interresting to get this invitation and see these things. What Tomas really was showing was an A1200 with BlizzardPPC + Grex PCI 1200 + Voodoo3 PCI graphicscard + a PCI networkscard + some model of PCI WinTV-card, don't remember the exactly name of this card. He was then showing the movie with WinTV in a window on Workbench- screen. At the same time he was also showing a voxelspace (using the PPC-CPU) in another Window on the same Workbenchscreen and finally the networkconnection by Aweb in another window on the same Workbenchscreen. All three processes was running at the full speed in the same time, and in my thought the quality of the movie in the WinTV-window seems very good. And the quality of the rest also of course good as it always is with an Amigacomputer equipped with a good graphicscard. So the potential of Grex seems very good now, especially when this software will be released for us to use :-) He also showed us the first PCB of Grex for A4000D (only the chips where missing and not soldered yet), and I think this will be a very interresting card for users of A4000D equipped with an CyberStormPPC or CyberStorm mkIII. And when will all this being available then ? Well, DCE is hoping they can have all this ready for showing to the public at the Amigashow (WOA 2001 ?) in Germany this year. And Grex PCI 1200 is already available as you might know, but not all these software yet. If all works out fine, it will be very nice to see this at the show I think. Well, what do you say Tomas (or Frank perhaps), something you wan't add or explain more about what I have write in this message ? I'm looking forward to have a closer look myself on this software when you will release it. Best wishes and greetings, Gunne -- Hälsningar ! Greetings ! Gunne Steen ! Zitat: Hi Gunnar, I am sure happy to see that the good impression I got when I bought the GREX1200 at vesalia. Eben though I had some trouble caused by a faulty Rom-Update delivered with teh GREX (took vesalia and DCE a few weeks to find out) and some flakey power connectors between my Blizzard PPC and my GREX, I am now very happy to have purchased this excellent product. Nevertheless I was worried about the drivers, especially since I bought a Realtek Network-Card with a 8139 chipset, which seems not to be supported by the drivers of the 1.0 version install disk. Asking vesalia for support on this issue I still had no reply. This was worrying me a bit, mostly because the network was said to be supported in the advertisments in the German AmigaPlus magazine. But now I know that there probably will be the drivers for my network-card, abd probably also for my WinTV, my Terratec ESS-Solo and my SCSI host-adaptor. During the "repair"-period of my GREX I had a couple of conversations with Mr. Does, sr. (at vesalia, for those who do not know him), and was convincingly told that there might be a CPU-Addon in planning for GREX Users, basically the idea that lead to the Zico-specifications of the Amiga one. Conclusingly, I can say that I strongly suggest everyone to support vesalia and DCE by buying the GREX1200. b.t.w. it is also a lot of fun to use...:dance1: -- Cheerio! [quote] Original von RayWagner: Zitat: Hello Raywagner I'm glad to hear that you are satisfied with your Grex-card ! And as you probably know,... problems are always there for being solved :-), so I'm also glad the problem has been solved. As for networkscard we do sell a Planet networkscard here that works very fine booth with Grex and Mediator, and I think also with Promotheus, haven't got time to try this out yet, but it should work in my thought. The card is 10Mbit, and modelnumber; ENW-8300-2T (V.4). For adsl-connections it's very well ok with a 10Mbit-card, as you don't got higher transferrates anyway, the benefit with a faster card will only be in a local network, where you might get higher transferrates with a faster card.
