CUPS müsste funktionieren ohne das Einsenden, dann wäre es eine Möglichkeit! Dass an der Schreibfunktion noch gearbeitet wird, ist kein Problem.

(Apologies for the English)

That is unfortunately not technically possible. See here:

I got no problem with it, but I'm just curious for whom you want to preserve these games.

Basically, the Amiga community! When games go bad, people will be able to replace it with an *identical copy*. Is that not a good thing?

Also, being able to do this - people will be able to use the images in conjunction with WHDLoad to create HD installs, or play in an emulator.

Zitat:
In fact right now there are lot's of sites, which try to collect all the amiga stuff and give it back to the users. I don't agree with you about the fact that a game is more valuable to be preserved if it is not cracked.

Your kidding right? Think of all those games that have credits removed of the people who made the game! Is that not valuable information?

The founder of CAPS was an Amiga games developer from the time, as you can probably see from the site. You can probably realise why removal of credits and adding lame warez'y intro make him feel rather sad - that stuff being the only thing that was left - people might start thinking that was how the game was sold originally!

One of the *biggest* reasons though is the question of did the cracking groups actually de-protect the game properly? In many many *many* cases we have see they did not, but people do not realise because few people will play a game until the end.

Luckily, we can tell if a game has even been modified after the original mastering, that and checking any integrity information present on the disk - we know if the game has an error.

What about people that want to sell their game, but it is broken? Selling people a cracked copy with it is *not* going to get you good feedback.

(snip) don't contact us if...

Zitat:
Just contact us for goodies ... Ok, no discussion ... no support by myself. Your hp doesn't convince and rigth now it looks like a "send-us-all-your-stuff-for-free-project-and-we-have-lots-of-fun-with -it".

That section may sound bad, I do agree - but that was never the intention. I guess it depends on how you read it. Do you know how much time a project like this might take up? Quite a lot! :)

As for discussion - we quite welcome any questions - just look at the contact page for the support we supply! :) We just didn't want to get bombarded by emails that served no purpose other than maybe raise our ego's... Do you see?

Anyway, I guess until we have finished the technology and actually get things "out there" people will remain unconviced. Which is fine... No problem. The reason we went public so early with it is because we wanted to make sure that we could support any form of copy protection - and not have to go back and change things later if we found something we had not encountered before. After that stage was complete (as it is now) - was their any point in going private again? That would have looked really good! (not)... ;)

Anyway, I talk to much. In summary - we are getting there. I hope that you change your mind once you see how valuable we believe this project to be - perhaps when we are at the stage were we are actually putting things back into the community. I guess this may convice many people too. It shouldn't be too far away now... We just wanted to start preserving the games *now* as we can do that *now*. They are not getting any younger!

:)

Oh, and the "we-have-lots-of-fun-with -it" - well we don't yet really since we are far too busy. Playing the games is the last step before a release - I personally have not played any of them yet, mostly because we have not finished our remastering tools!

... wem nützt das? Das habe ich mich schon im GAEB-Forum gefragt. Dem Amiga? Wie denn?

I think the website itself gives the best reasons why it is useful.

But basically, it is useful for anyone with an Amiga and original games. If you have ever suffered from an original disk dying from bit rot - you will know what I mean! :)
