AROS: Wöchentliche Fortschritte (ab 27.07.15)
Allwöchentlich fasst Krzysztof 'Deadwood' Śmiechowicz die jüngsten Fortschritte der AROS-Programmierer zusammen. Diesmal wurde u.a. die Fehlerbehandlung des FAT-Handlers verbessert sowie die MUI-Klassen List und Listview an die MUI4-Spezifikation angepasst.
Week of July 27th:
- Prefs/Locale no longer looses language information when reseting to default state (deadwood)
- Fat-handler is now showing an error requester when I/O error happens (neil)
- Fat-handler has now better error handling (neil)
- Formatting procedure using fat-handler is now writing immediately to disk (neil)
- MUI List and Listview classes have been updated to behave according to MUI4 specification (deadwood)
- MUI Listtree class has been aligned with changes to List and Listview classes (deadwood)

Jump'n Run: Vorabversion von "Zerosphere"
Bei "Zerosphere" (Youtube-Video) wird die Umgebung des Spielers stark verzerrt dargestellt, erst wenn die Spielfigur "blinzelt" (Feuerknopf) kann sie kurzzeitig die realen Dimensionen der Plattformen um sie herum erkennen.
Die jetzt bei pouet.net veröffentlichte "Party Version" hat den "Interactive" Wettbewerb auf der Demo-Party Evoke gewonnen. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Vorabversion, die Fullversion soll im Laufe des Jahres veröffentlicht werden. (cg)

Amiga-Emulator: FS-UAE 2.6.0beta1 (2. Update)
Frode Solheims FS-UAE für Windows, Mac OS X, Linux und BSD basiert auf WinUAE und ist komplett per Joypad bedienbar. Seit der letzten stabilen Version im März 2014 (2.4.1) wurden bislang nur noch in Entwicklung befindliche Fassungen veröffentlicht.
Änderungen in FS-UAE:
- New option floppy_drive_volume_empty
- Switched default key mapping for host backslash and insert keys
- Use GLEW instead of GLee for OpenGL extensions
- When not using FS-UAE Launcher, model A1200 defaulted to kickstart 3.0
Änderungen in FS-UAE-Launcher:
- Changed tab panel appearance on OS X to match other platforms
- Renamed language prefs to appearance prefs, added launcher theme option
- Close login dialog before opening database refresh dialog
- Settings UI for specifying empty floppy drive volume (or disabling it)
- Added keyboard settings to configure equals/insert/backslash/less mapping
- Added support for WHDLoad 18.1, set as default version
- Replaced some icons, added new rom/ram icon
- Fixed an issue with the new CPU selection

In the meantime, FS-UAE 2.5.35dev has been released.
Changes in FS-UAE:
- Fixed bug (lockup) when quitting FS-UAE from Amiga side on some platforms.
- Fixed a potential key repeat issue (could not reproduce original problem).
- Load kickstart replacement from data files instead of embedding in executable.
- Re-enabled serial port (was disabled in 2.5.31dev), fixed AROS Kickstart replacement.
- Share serial port emulation code with WinUAE.
Known issues:
- When entering the GUI using modifier+F12, the modifier key(s) sticks in the emulated Amiga when you return to the emulation.
- Graphical flickering in Workbench with non-cycle-exact emulation.
- When starting FS-UAE from FS-UAE Launcher, accelerator flashs ROM writes are not persistent because the launcher uses a new copy every time.
Changes in FS-UAE-Launcher:
- Added All Games / All Configurations to drop-down.
- Nicer behavior when kickstart ROM for chosen model is missing.
- Moved more warnings and information to status bar.
- Fixed handling of downloadable games.
- Use Fusion QT style on all platforms by default.
- Default to Fusion Adwaita style variant when running under GNOME 3.
- Show warning icon in settings if option is overriden by configuration.
- Fixed OAGD.net locker uploader.
- New additional configuration page.
- Moved custom configuration (button) to additional config page.
- Removed some “noise” from custom configuration and advanced settings.

Inzwischen wurde FS-UAE 2.6.0beta1 veröffentlicht. Das Update ist als "semi-stabile" Version für neue Anwender gedacht, die damit die letzte als stabil bezeichnete Fassung (2.4.3) ablösen soll.
Improvements over version 2.4.3 include:
- Updated emulation code from WinUAE 3.1.0.
- Support for PPC emulation (can run AmigaOS 4.x) via QEMU-UAE plugin
- More emulated hardware support (Toccata, A2061, Picasso IV, …)
- Better support for modern OS versions due to using SDL 2.0
- Built-in support for multiple displays, and fixes for HiDPI displays
- The Launcher supports modern OS versions better due to using QT 5.x
- Much improved FS-UAE Launcher user interface
- FS-UAE mouse integration (Workbench cursor follows host cursor)
- Updated internal kickstart replacement from AROS
- Dual joystick/mouse mode for joystick port 0
- Official builds for SteamOS (Linux + Steam runtime)
- OS X apps are now digitally signed (Apple Developer ID)
- Many bug fixes
Die Unterstützung von IPF-Diskettenabbildern erfolgt nun über ein separat herunterzuladendes Plugin. (cg)

MorphOS: MPlayer 1.1
Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly hat Version 1.1 seiner MorphOS-Portierung des Videoabspielers MPlayer veröffentlicht, das wieder die Änderungen in den neueren Linux-Versionen von Mplayer und ffmpeg übernimmt.

Virtual Amiga Multimedia Player 1.36
Der mit Hollywood entwickelte Video- Bild- und Audio-Player V.A.M.P. (Virtual Amiga Multimedia Player) liegt nun in der Version 1.36 für AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS und Windows vor. Das Update bereinigt einige Fehler, außerdem kann jetzt mit dem Mausrad vor und zurück gespult werden. Die Schrittweite (1, 10, 30 oder 60 Sekunden) wird dabei mit den Zifferntasten 1-4 eingestellt. XzentriX 2015 (04.-06.09.2015, Seeshaupt am Starnberger See)
Vom 04.09.2015 bis 06.09.2015 findet in Seeshaupt am Starnberger See das "XzentriX Treffen 2015" statt. Die Veranstaltung versteht sich als ein Treffen für Liebhaber alter oder außergewöhnlicher Computer.
Das XzentriX Treffen wendet sich an Computerfreunde, die an "ein Leben nach der Standardsoftware" glauben: "0815 ist out, C64 ist in..." - so, oder so ähnlich könnte das Motto der XzentriX lauten. Die Organisatoren rufen dazu auf, alles mitzubringen "was gut und exotisch ist" - und weniger als 33 Bit spricht.
Am Samstag gibt es einen für alle Teilnehmer (also auch Anbieter) kostenlosen Flohmarkt. Anmeldung und weitere Infos gibt es auf der Webseite der Veranstalter. (cg)

Rückblick: The Amiga 3000 – a Virtual Reality pioneer
Im Juni erschien unter dem Titellink ein mit Fotos und Videos illustrierter englischer Artikel von Phil South über die beiden Geräte 1000SU und 1000SD von Jonathan Walderns Firma W Industries im englischen Leicester, einem Pionier der Virtuellen Realität. Update zum Kickstarter-Projekt für ein neues A1200-Gehäuse
Noch 18 Tage lang kann eine Kickstarter-Kampagne für neue und verbesserte Amiga-1200-Gehäuse durch Vorbestellungen unterstützt werden (amiga-news.de berichtete). Bislang wurde knapp ein Drittel des für die Realisierung erforderlichen Finanzierungsziels erreicht.
In einem Update unter dem Titellink wurde nun auf folgendes hingewiesen:
- Vorgestanzte Öffnungen:
Die zusätzlichen Gehäuse-Öffnungen sind keine Löcher, sondern sind von innen vorgestanzt, sodass die dünnwandigen Schnittlinien im Bedarfsfall mit einem Teppichmesser durchtrennt werden können.
- Signierte Gehäuse:
In allen Gehäusen soll es Unterschriften von Dave Haynie und Petro Tyschtschenko sowie eventuell Carl Sassenrath und RJ Mical geben.
- Aufkleber:
Allen Gehäusen wird ein Aufkleber mit der Beschriftung "KS - A1200 / 30th Years Amiga Anniversary" beiliegen.
- Weitere Sondereditionen:
- Limited Ghost Edition
Eine auf 40 Exemplare limitierte Gehäusevariante leuchtet im Dunkeln.
- Petro T. Special Exclusive Edition
Diesem Gehäuse liegen ein entsprechender Aufkleber sowie ein Exemplar seines Buches bei (deutsche Ausgabe; falls bis dahin erhältlich alternativ auch auf englisch).
- Red Sector Inc. 30 Years Special Edition
Dem auf 30 Exemplare limitierten RSI-Gehäuse anlässlich des gleichfalls 30-jährigen Bestehens dieser Demoszene-Gruppe liegen diverse Bonusmaterialien bei, darunter ein exklusives Demo, ein Poster und ein Schlüsselanhänger.

AmigaOS 4: Directory Opus 4.18.44
In der neuen Version des Dateimanagers Directory Opus wurden einige kleinere Fehler beseitigt.
- Fixed directory sizes displayed in a lister when searching for a
filename (or pattern) in multiple directories with the hunt command.

user selected the OK button in the "Shall I go there?" requester,
the hunt command would display a requester stating that the file was
not found but then load the directory where the file was located.
- Fixed a crash in the Dopus4 text viewer. If Dopus4 was on the
Workbench screen and the text viewer was open when the user quit
the Dopus4 program, the viewer would crash (Grim Reaper).
- Fixed a bug in Dopus_Print that prevented updating of the output
filename in the requester.
- Changed makefiles to create 'stabs' debug binaries and improve
compiler output readability. All Dopus4 components will now display
specific function information in a stack trace if there is a failure
when running debug binaries.
- Replaced all internal string functions and unbounded 'C' library string
functions with size limited 'C' library string functions to eliminate
possible buffer overflows.
- Replaced all deprecated memory allocation functions with new OS4 memory
allocation functions.
- Replaced all deprecated message related functions with new OS4 functions.
- Fixed all compiler warnings to make it easier to spot new warnings.
- Added a missing Tooltype to the DirectoryOpus icon.
- Changed the copyright data in about window.
- Updated copyright data in english DirectoryOpus.guide.
- Updated history files.

Hallo liebe Amigafans,
in der vergangenen Ausgabe hatten wir Euch anlässlich des 30. Geburtstag des Amiga einen Bericht aus Amsterdam mitgebracht. Auch in den USA wurde dieses Ereignis gefeiert. Wir sprachen per Skype mit Wei-ju, ein BoingsWorld-Hörer der ersten Stunde welcher in den USA lebt, wie in Mountain View gefeiert wurde.
Neben seinen Eindrücken hat er auch ein paar Videos mitgebracht die Ihr in unserem Linkarchiv zum Podcast findet. An dieser Stelle nochmals ein Dankeschön an Wei-ju für seine Mühe.
Unser zweiter Interviewpartner Costel Mincea wurde erst kürzlich als dritter Geschäftsführer von Hyperion bekannt gegeben. Ebenfalls per Skype zugeschaltet, hat er uns Rede und Antwort gestanden.
Zusätzlich beantwortete er auch noch Userfragen aus dem OS4Welt-Forum die dort vorab in einem Thread gestellt wurden.

Großes Sommerupdate von 17 Hollywood-Plugins
Pressemitteilung: Von wegen Sommerloch! Für alle Hollywood-User holt Airsoft Softwair diesen Sommer mit dem größten Plugin-Update in der Hollywood-Geschichte zum großen Rundumschlag aus! Von insgesamt 17 Plugins stehen ab sofort neue Versionen zum Download bereit. Durch die vielen von Hollywood unterstützten Plattformen bedeutet dies, dass über 200 neue Binaries kompiliert werden mussten, die insgesamt über 50 Megabyte einnehmen. Insbesondere Freunde des Raspberry Pi werden sich über diese Updates freuen, da alle Plugins jetzt auch für Linux ARM vorliegen, welches seit Hollywood 6.0 unterstützt wird.
