Dennis van Weeren, developer of the FPGA-based Amiga 500 clone Minimig (reported by amiga-news.de), has released a screenshot of the final PCB layout (Rev. 1.0) under the title link.
The circuit board has two layers and measures merely 120 x 120 mm. After a check of the PS/2 connections, which is still outstanding, a prototype of the board should be produced and tested for its functional capability. (snx) (Translation: cad)

ACK: Status update for various PPC products
In an IRC chat, Adam Kowalczyk from ACK has commented once more on various announced hardware projects. He regrets the delays, but estimates the harm done thereby as apparently not particularly tragic. At the urging of the users, one has now decided, at least, to release some pictures, these should be visible on Tuesday on amigaworld.net.
CPU Modules
The CPU modules work, but in the AmigaOne, they do not achieve the expected performance increase.
Unlike the Powervixxen TL (see below), the 60x protocol is being used in the Eyetech computers for the communication between motherboard and CPU module, apparently, there are still problems here.
Powervixxen LT
Prototypes of this A1200 expansion already exist. Rather accidentally, in the process, it has crystallized that the PV LT can be operated with just a Mediator PCI busboard (so without A1200) as well. The adaptation of AmigaOS 4 to the hardware was already started in "a simulated environment," "a good deal of work" has already been invested in the adaptation, reportedly.
- MPC 5200 @ 400-466MHz
- 512 MB Ram on-board
- On-board graphics: Radeon Mobility
- ATA/IDE interface
- 100 Mbit ethernet
- USB 1.1
- AC97 audio codec (with automatic integration of the Amiga sound chip's sound output)
- Works in original A1200 desktop case
As price for a Powervixxen LT including AmigaOS 4, 375 USD (without taxes) is being targeted. A "pre-production" model should be introduced in the British event AmiRevival (July 29). Unlike the well-known Phase5 accelerator cards, the Powervixxen LT cannot be deactivated.
Powervixxen TL
"Mostly working" prototypes of this stand-alone motherboard exist. The final specifications look like the following:
- ATX form factor
- Northbridge: Tundra TSI109
- CPU slot compatible to AmigaOne/MicroA1 (supports 133/167/200 Mhz FSB)
- 2 DDR2 DIMM slots, up to 2 GB RAM
- 2 x Gigabit-Ethernet on-board
- 1 x PCIe Graphics (1x)
- 1 x PCI 66 Mhz
- 4 x PCI 33/66 Mhz
- BIOS: UBoot
The board should be available without CPU as well (as upgrade option for AmigaOne owners), for an estimated price of 550-600 USD. The price including CPU will rest with $1000-1200, depending on desired processor.
Carrier Board for Powervixxen LT
This carrier board should allow for a stand-alone operation of the Powervixxen LT, which is normally powered by the A1200 motherboard. The licensing negotiations with Amiga Inc. are not concluded here yet, which is why the other projects are being worked on for the time being. In the hitherto negotiations, Amiga Inc. has reportedly proven to be "very responsive" and has not "presented any stumbling blocks" to Kowalczyk so far. (cg) (Translation: cad)

ACK: presentation of the AmigaOne cpu module again delayed
As Adam Kowalczyk from ACK Software Controls informed on amigaworld.net was the for today announced presentation of the cpu modules for the AmigaOne again delayed.
According to Kowalczyk arose technical problems using the modules with a MicroA1 as well as with his own TSI109 based motherboard whose analyzis would need more time and ressources than were available until the planned presentation.
Kowalczyk apologizes to all interested and said that today from 20:00h on he would answer to questions on the IRC channel #amigaworld (server: irc.amigaworld.net).

MorphOS: Nixskeleton, a Shared Library Skeleton
Sigbjørn 'CISC' Skjære has published an example implementation of a Shared Library called "nixskeleton"
in the download section of the "MorphOS Developer Connection". Features of
Nixskeleton:
- Multiple libbases, each opener gets their own private base and global data.
- A task will always get the same base, thus the library can be indirectly opened elsewhere through the same task and still get the right libbase.
- However this means callers should avoid sharing libbase across tasks (this is frowned upon anyway), as it'll lead to trouble!
- You can use libnix I/O and anything requiring constructors etc in the library.
- Full of comments (hopefully enough) to help you understand the magic involved.
- The skeleton uses SYSV (with r12base to be able to work its magic) functions, since this is the most likely candidate (it is however possible to adapt it for 68k entries, basically you have to change the global __restore_r13() function).
- You *can* *not* pass filedescriptors between caller and library, or free() memory allocated by the other etc, doing so will mean certain death, you have been warned! ;)
If there should be any questions please contact the author.

2nd Bochumer Retrobörse for classic videogames
Pressemitteilung:
Hi friends and collectors,
after the great success of the first retrofair in Bochum/Germany we
now start the 2nd one:
2. Bochumer Retrobörse for classic videogames
19th August 2006, 11.00h -16.00h
Falkenheim, Akademiestrasse 69, Bochum
Many visitors of the first fair at Eurocon 2005 asked us to do
another one, because they liked it very much. Now itZs the time. At the
Falkenheim in Bochum (Ruhrvalley, about one hour by car from the
dutch border) we found a nice location. We have place for about 40
tables for sellers. Some tables are stil available. A table costs 10
Euro (2 tables are 9 Euro each, 3 and more are 8 Euro each). Table
sizes are 1,40m x 0,70m.
So if you want to join the RetroFair as a seller, please contact us
at retroboerse@gamereset.de. Comments and wishes are always welcome.
We plan some highlights for the fair-day, which we will announce at our website in the next few weeks. There is a banner on the website as well and we would ask you to put it on your website to support the event.
We hope to see you in August in Bochum as a seller or a visitor.

The source code can be now compiled by GCC and the new version 3.2 also contains OS4-native binaries.
There are not further changes so if you do not use AmigaOS 4 you can use the
old version.
A development of MCC_Mailtext is not planned but if there should be problems or bugs
there will be further versions.

Team AROS: Bounty #40 for DOS-Packets
For the bounty project #40 for the implementation of DOS packets in the dos.library of the Amiga Research Operating System (AROS) donations can be made now.
At first a device based method was built into AROS, but in the future both procedures should be supported. It is intended to be kompatible with the original AmigaOS and profit from file systems like EXT2, SFS or FAT32/NTFS, as AmigaOS as well as AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS already do.
Furthermore a way for other already existing bounties should be created - for example the ones for the reimplementation of the Amiga roms (Kickstart ROM Replacement phase I, phase II). (snx) (Translation: tz)
