Emulator: iUAE 1.3 for iOS
iUAE is an implementation of the Amiga emulator UAE for Apple's iOS devices. Because Apple does not add emulators to its Appstore in a simple way, iUAE is available via Cydia, which requires a Jailbreak. Users of a Mac-OS-X computer can install the program without using Jailbreak via Sideload to the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, by compiling the source code on their own.
Changes in version 1.3:
- Highres screen mode now displays correctly (Thanks Mithrendal)
- Fixes for glitches in some games (Thanks Mithrendal)
- Configurable memory

Trader: Amiga on the Lake agreed with A-EON Technology
After a disagreement between the US American Amiga trader "Amiga on the Lake" (AOTL) and AmigaKit, which is the main distributor of the products of A-EON Technology, (amiga-news.de reported), under the title link Aaron Smith (AOTL) has announced an agreement. The press release still cannot be found on the website of A-EON Technology, but is confirmed by Amigaworld.net, which is said to be close to AmigaKit.
According to the press release, AOTL was appointed by A-EON "as the lead distributor for all A-EON products in North America" which means "A-EON Technology will ensure that AOTL has a buffer stock of Cyrus+ motherboards to meet its North American customers demands for AmigaOne X5000 systems. In addition A-EON will supply software packs which will include the Enhancer Software Pack and the Personal Paint PowerPC boxed sets together with AmigaOS 4.1 registration cards. AOTL will also carry the AmigaOne 1222 model when it is commercially available."

Amiga-inspired operating system: FriendUP 1.0.0 released as open source
The new operating system FriendUP has been released in version 1.0.0 as open source software. While not being compatible to AmigaOS, the latter did inspire it, according to its developers. FriendUP is a project of the former AROS developer Hogne Titlestad (LunaPaint), who had tried to establish an own operating system before already that was called Anubis OS. Meanwhile also the former head of Commodore UK, David Pleasance, could be won over to FriendUP (amiga-news.de reported in german). FriendUP is web-based and as such basically hardware-independent.
Below we publish the press release.
FriendUP v1.0.0 is released as open source software
After more than three years in development, the AmigaOS inspired meta operating system, Friend Unifying Platform, is released as open source software. This is a great milestone, making the OS ready for new developers who want to contribute or make Friend based software.
Friend implements AmigaOS and Tripos inspired technologies and concepts. At the same time, it has rethought the OS paradigm for the cloud. This means that this system is hardware and hardware-architecture independent, and can be used on any device that can connect to the internet and render modern web pages.
Friend Software Labs continues to develop FriendUP for a professional audience, but hopes that with this release, a community can form around it, making sure it's Amiga roots are maintained while the system evolves on its own. From here on out, the system needs to be steered towards normal users, and opens up to creative developers, designers and artists to achieve this in the coming year. It targets all UI paradigms, like VR, mobile, desktops, TVs and voice, so the project needs contributions from a diverse pool of people. (snx)

Hardware: WLAN-Modem WiFi232
The WiFi232 ceated by Paul Rickards is connected to the serial interface and emulates a Hayes modem. Unlike this, it is not used for dial-up connections into a telephone network but for providing an Internet connection via WLAN which is used to log into a mailbox via Telnet.
The developer himself produces the WLAN modem but currently is sold out. Once it is available again, he will announce it via Twitter. The price of the WLAN kit is 33 and of the pre-assembled modem 49 US-Dollar. It is not possible to preorder it.

Cloanto: Amiga Forever 7 and C64 Forever 7
Press release: June 23, 2017 - Cloanto released today Amiga Forever 7 and C64 Forever 7, the latest versions of the official Commodore/Amiga preservation, emulation and support suites for Windows. The new editions are the result of more than 18 months of uninterrupted work since the previous major release. The active code base now consists of more than half a million lines written by Cloanto, in addition to OS components and independent open source modules of which Cloanto too is a grateful and active contributor.
New features include the ability to autostart the PC into any Amiga configuration, enhanced PowerPC emulation support, custom content folders and playlists, and a "playerless" title playback, preview and editing experience.
By opening up to new ways to manage and access more content, Amiga Forever 7 follows in the footsteps of Cloanto's tradition of disruptive innovation. Emulation and preservation enthusiasts can not only work better and faster than before, but also enjoy additional degrees of freedom, as Amiga Forever encourages the curation of self-contained titles that are designed for long-term access, without being bound to a database or to a single player interface or version. Any title, no matter whether it's a "Classic" Amiga, a PowerPC system, or an 8-bit system (with C64 Forever installed), can now be played back from Windows File Explorer, or by booting the Windows PC into it, without ever launching Amiga Forever, if so desired.
More than in the previous few versions, a substantial amount of work was done under the hood to keep things simple on the surface, yet without limiting possibilities. "We worked very hard to raise the quality bar on all fronts, no matter whether you use Amiga Forever for your own enjoyment, to entertain your friends by surprise-booting a PC into an Amiga or C64, or to start an educational journey with your children or grandchildren."
"The level of improvements and refinements on the input front alone is beyond the scale of what would normally be invested in a project like this," said Cloanto's Mike Battilana. "Months at a time were spent to optimally blend the different features and needs of PC-side game controllers and keyboards with the emulated counterparts. A dedicated group of joystick-armed beta testers kept providing valuable feedback, as even Microsoft engineers helped us best support the latest Xbox controllers. Quite a few DirectInput and XInput API bugs were marked for resolution in the process, again illustrating how demanding the emulation universe can be."
General (screenshot) and title-specific (screenshot) input options work hand in hand to enable maximum personalization without unnecessarily reducing title portability, while providing precious information for future touch-enabled playback. Xbox, X-Arcade and I-PAC controllers, and arbitrary keyboard layouts are supported out of the box. Host-side buttons can be assigned to guest-side keys and vice versa, e.g. to use joystick-controlled games on modern systems without a joystick. Virtual buttons make it possible to use modern controller buttons to trigger events that would have required pressing a key like Space or Enter in an Amiga game, or to play CBM 8-bit titles originally designed for keyboard-only use.
Dead keys, double-dead keys, deadable keys, anyone? Amiga Forever knows about all those Amiga keyboard details, and seamlessly integrates them with the modern Unicode world, so that clipboard and keyboard input always work as expected. 8-bit systems were not left behind either, with support for multilingual ROMs in C64 Forever, and systems like the VIC 20, VIC 1001 and C64 even featuring Japanese configurations.
"In spite of the occasional technical prowess, we see the result more as a form of art. We are still aiming for the same excellence and beauty in computing which made us feel so at home with the Amiga and its community in the 1980s and 1990s. As we once again thank our generous customers and contributors for allowing us to keep working on these projects, we invite all Amiga friends to keep engaging with us at events, online and by signing up at Cloanto.org."
Amiga Forever 7 is available now in three editions:
- Value-Edition (downloadable installer)
- Plus-Edition (downloadable installer with option to build DVD ISO image)
- Premium-Edition (downloadable Plus Edition, plus boxed software and additional videos on 3 DVDs)
C64 Forever 7 is available now in three editions:
Both packages recognize and work with each other, with options to merge the different platforms into the same interface.

AROS: AEROS 5.0 beta 1 for Orange Pi Lite available to registered customers
Registered customers of Pascal Papara's Linux-hosted AROS distribution AEROS can download a trial version for the Orange Pi Lite (screenshot). The version AEROS 5.0 beta 1 offers an updated Linux base, new AROS files based on the indieGO!-version and optionally an automatic participation in the common Verium-Miningpool.
Since the Orange Pi Lite is equipped with only 512 MB RAM, a fast MicroSD card as swap partition as well as the browser NetSurf are recommended. If you want to visit more complex websites, you may use Midori.

According to Andy Broad he has invested more than 300 hours updating the calendar software AOrganiser. Now it is possible to "sync your AmigaOS diary with your phone or other mobile device via Google Calendar". Additionally "a suite of python and ARexx scripts offer import and export of iCal / VCal formatted events and invitations as well as syncing to a remote server via CalDAV."
Currently only Google is supported as CalDAV server, but other servers will be added if there is a demand. AOrganiser is available for 11 British pound (about 11,40 Euro) on A-EON's Amistore.
Most important changes in AOrganiser 2.1:
- The Event window features an extended range of options for entering information, the single line title and notes section have been expanded to:
- Title
- Multiline Notes
- Organiser
- Location
- Alarms can now be set to trigger at arbitrary offsets from the start or end of the event, notifying via RingHIO, requester, sound or executing a command.
- Custom gadget to display the events in the main diary window, with cutomisable colours and fonts.
- Optimisations to the time entry gadget.
- Extended features in the built in calendar gadget, with a new choose date requester utilising the same gadget as you see in the main window.
- Fully customisable pen colours, allowing a diary look that suits your own preferences.
- Keyboard navigation in the diary window using arrow keys.
- The ability to select days or events and operate on them via arexx scripts.
- Massively extended ARexx interface.
- Extended but fully backwards compatible IFF diary file format.
- Extensive time zone support for event that take place in different parts of the country (or world) to the diary's primary locale.
- ICal and vCal import / export options.
- The ability to sync with Google Calendar via the CalDAV API.
- Advanced searching using AmigaDOS patterns.
