Workbench: Scalos V40.16 Beta
Am 9. Dezember 2001 wurde die Betaversion 40.16 des
Workbench-Ersatzes "Scalos" veröffentlicht.
Diese Version behebt eine Reihe gemeldeter

Die Ausgabe 11 der "Annuaire Amiga Francophone" wurde
an die Abonnenten verschickt. Hierbei handelt es sich
um eine Liste mit französischsprachigen Amiga-Usern
aus der ganzen Welt (Frankreich, Belgien, Schweiz, Quebec,...),
die monatlich verschickt wird. Derzeit sind in der Liste
621 User aufgeführt.

USB: HIGHWAY für Zorro II (Update)
Die Seiten zur auf der Amiga-Messe in Köln vorgestellten SUBWAY
USB-Controller-Karte für den Uhrenport des A1200 wurden
komplett überarbeitet. Zusätzlich wird die HIGHWAY-USB-Controller Karte
für Zorro II-Steckplätze vorgestellt.
Die Testergebnisse bezüglich Kompatibilität der SUBWAY
mit Zorro-Uhrenport-Lösungen sind ebenfalls verfügbar.

Amiga Arena: Interview mit Sascha Brandt ("The last Seal")
Olaf Köbnik schreibt:
Amiga Arena - Interview Aktion
1999 erschien eine Demoversion des Adventures "The last Seal"
entwickelt von dem Schweizer Team "Ancor".
Doch wie so vieles angekündigt wurde und nie erschien ist es umso
erfreulicher, dass 2001 an
"The last Seal" weiterentwickelt wird.
Die Hälfte des Spiels soll schon in "C" neu geschrieben worden sein und
mit "The last Seal" dürfte uns ein "abgedrehtes" Adventure bevorstehen.
(Hoffen wir, dass es auch fertig wird).
Ein kurzes Interview mit Sascha Brandt, dem Entwickler, wurde von der Amiga
Arena geführt.

Virus Help Denmark: xvs.library V33.37
Am 9. Dezember 2001 haben Georg Hörmann und Jan Erik Olausen
die Version 33.37 der Virenscanner-Library "xvs" veröffentlicht.
Gegenüber der vorigen Version hat sich Folgendes geändert:
- Once more added some new security features to the library. It will
now try to self-defend after alien attacks, only if these efforts
fail, the library gets disabled.
- Added recognition for 2 demo files that I call 'Anti-UAE Trojan'.
Their code checks for UAE systems and in case it finds one will
delete important files. Thanks to Jan Andersen for sending the
demos to me.
- Added recognition for a MS-DOS strain of 'Bastard Installer'.
Thanks to Jan Andersen for the file.
- Added recognition and repair code for 'Bobek 3' linkvirus.
Thanks to Zeeball for sending me an infected file, even though
it was accidentally :-)

VirusExecutor, VirusChecker II oder VirusZ benutzt werden.

Das Amiga-Magazin "Amitopia" aus Norwegen
sucht noch 23 weitere Abonnenten aus
Norwegen oder Schweden
zur Veröffentlichung der aktuellen Ausgabe.
Eine Bestellung ist über den Titellink möglich.
In Schweden wird das Magazin dann ab dem 15.
Dezember 2001 erhältlich sein.
Für nächstes Jahr ist zusätzlich die Veröffentlichung
in Dänemark geplant.

Programmiersprache: PowerD V0.19 Alpha3
Am 9. Dezember 2001 hat Martin Kuchinka die Alphaversion
V0.19 Alpha3 der Programmiersprache "PowerD" veröffentlicht.
In dieser frühen Alphaversion wurden verschiedene Fehler
behoben.
Änderungen:
- announced support for OOP4A project
(more: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Bridge/5737/)
- in some occasions (when no external references used), phxass produced
executable directly without the intermediate object file, that PowerD
requires
- all the LIBRARY definition only modules did an error, fixed
- bugfixes reported by Michel Bagmeijer
- pr2m: some string fixed and at last translated from E to D :)
- removed few enforcer hits

Die Website des Spieleentwicklerteams "x-cellence" wurde
komplett neu designed. Unser
neuestes Projekt, das RPG "God's Light", hat dies notwendig gemacht.
Leider können wir derzeit nur an PC-Titeln arbeiten. Aus diesem
Grund suchen wir (wie schon vor einem Jahr) immer noch nach einem
qualifizierten Amiga-Team, welches mit uns zusammen an der
Umsetzung unserer Titel für den Amiga mitarbeitet.
Hauptsächlich geht es dabei um die Umsetzung der X-Fire-Engine auf
Warp3D oder OpenGL. Auf dieser Grundlage wäre es dann relativ
leicht unsere Titel für den Amiga zu entwickeln und somit
diese fantastische Plattform zu unterstützen. (sd)

Amiga Arena: Vollversion von Bangboo
Mit Genehmigung von Michael Taupitz liegt das Spiel "Bangboo" zum freien
Download in der Amiga Arena bereit. Bei "Bangboo" handelt es sich um eine
Mischung aus Knobel-, Geschicklichkeits- und Puzzlespiel. "Bangboo" ist
von Disk/HD spielbar und für lange Winterabende wirklich empfehlenswert.

Virus Help Denmark: Zwei neue Virenwarnungen
Von Virus Help Denmark wird vor zwei neuen Viren gewarnt. Bei der ersten
Warnung handelt es sich um einen neuen Tojan-Virus, der in den Archiven
namens AME-DSD.lha und PSL-KMJ.lha im Aminet gefunden wurde. Bei der zweiten Meldung
handelt es sich um einen Linkvirus, der vermutlich schon älter ist. Lesen
Sie im Anschluss die Original-Meldungen:
1.
Two archives found on Aminet contains a new trojan. It is said to be
AGA demos, but if you run these demo's on a PC using 'WinUAE', your
system will be deleted. These demos' comes from a Polish demo group.
Why they would program something like this, I don't know.

In the code for these archives you can read:

It is not legal to release destructive programs to the public, and
we will see what we can do with this. In almost every country the
programmer of such destructive programs can go to jail for this kind
of programming.
The xvs.library package will be released very soon.....

2.
A new linkvirus has been found a few days ago, we are not sure if
this virus is in the wild.
It was send to directly to Zbigniew Trzcionkowski (The programmer of
Safe). Zbigniew received one infected file. This new virus, is a clone
of the "Bobek-2" linkvirus, and is named "Bobek-3". This is able to
disable the antivirus programs.
We do not know if this virus was released in any way, so if you get a
requester poping up, telling you that something is trying to disable
the xvs.library, please let us know.
This is what we know of the virus:
Virus name: Bobek-3
Virus Type: Linkvirus
Virus size: about 2.000 bytes (Uses polmorphic engine)
Well, it looks like the Polish virus group is back in action. But maybe not
for long. Things will happen very soon.

dieser Version:
- Dank David Rey ist nun ein Manual enthalten.
- SMTP über SSL.
- POP3-Verbindungen können über STLS-Kommandos (RFC 2595) sicher gemacht werden.
- Einfacher ARexx-Port.
- Sound-Abspielen möglich.
- Taglines, die letzte %t in der Signature wird durch eine Tagline ersetzt.
- Verzeichnisse, die ungelesene Mails enthalten, werden heller dargestellt.
- Lokalisierung.

The OOP4A-Project joins forces with PowerD and WizardClasses
"The OOP4A-Project joins forces with PowerD and WizardClasses"
"Stefan Robl, author of OS 3.9's AmiDock, has agreed to support the
OOP4A-Project by providing his class system 'WizardClasses' which is
extensively used in all of his programs. The class system also
contains - among many other classes - a GUI class system. We hope to
release a first package somewhen in Q1, 2002 - this will enable programs
using OOP4A to also use GUI in a truly object oriented way.
Martin Kuchinka, author of the PowerD programming language, agreed
too to support the OOP4A-Project within PowerD.
New Features in this weekend's release of OOP4A are argument types and
methode overloading. These are the last basic oop functions which had to
be implemented, so that the next releases will concentrate on building
new classes."
OOP4A stands for Object Oriented Programming for All and offers full oop
support to nearly any programming language used on the Amiga. Project

Amiga board elects Frank Wilde as Chairman of the Board (Update)

Wilde brings 18 years of experience in the personal computer industry
to Amiga's Board of Directors
(December 6, 2001) The Board of Directors for Amiga Inc. have elected Frank Wilde as
its new Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Wilde will bring his many years of experience and leadership to Amiga to help
expand its business into new markets while releasing new products.
Mr. Wilde joins Amiga from Ravisent Technologies where he was President and Chief
Executive Officer. Frank was appointed Chief Executive Officer of RAVISENT Technologies
Inc. in April of 1998, a year after joining the company as Director and President.
Wilde brings over eighteen years of sales, marketing and business development experience
in the computer industry holding key industry positions at IBM, Dell Computer Corporation
and Memorex Telex Corporation. He has over 15 years P&L experience and is a veteran of
six startup companies and has led or been a team member of companies that have raised over
300 million in venture funding. He strongly believes in developing highly competitive and
fast growing organizations that enable individuals and teams to grow and develop their
professional capabilities in such a way that shareholder value is maximized. Wilde was
instrumental in the planning and execution of the company's transition from a hardware
company to a software Intellectual Property licensing company. Under his leadership,
RAVISENT was able to raise $18 million in private funding in June of 1998. Wilde also led
the company through the IPO process, taking the company public in July of 1999, raising
$61.4 million. RAVISENT's flagship product family, CinePlayer, offers consumers a

FreespaceDemo Update 4 erschienen
Das 4. Update von der Demoversion des Spiels Freespace
auf der Hyperion-Homepages ist zum Downloaden freigegeben.
Es beseitigt diverse kleiner Bugs (wie der Fehler in der 3.
Statistics-Tabelle) sowie eine neue Option, die es nun möglich macht,
das Voicestreaming ein- bzw. auszuschalten.
Anbei liegt auch noch eine Beschreibung, wie man einen Analog-Joystick
anschließen muss (inkl. aller Anschlussbelegungen). (ps)
