Linux: Betatester für Pegasos-Version von REBOL gesucht
Für die aktuelle Linux-Testversion für den Pegasos der von Carl Sassenrath geschaffenen plattformübergreifenden Skriptsprache
REBOL werden Betatester gesucht.
Den ersten 100 Betatestern, die einen Bericht ausfüllen, verspricht Genesi ein T-Shirt. Sollte Carl Sassenrath hinreichend Interesse an dieser Fassung für Gentoo/PPC bzw. Debian/PPC verzeichnen, so wolle man seitens Genesis auch um eine MorphOS-Portierung nachsuchen. (snx)

Cloanto: Pressemitteilung zur Auslieferung von Amiga Forever 2005

Cloanto Releases Amiga Forever 2005
October 7, 2005 - Cloanto released today Amiga Forever 2005,
the official Amiga emulation, OS, connectivity, history and
support suite, now featuring 20 GB of software, data and videos
to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Amiga computer.
Amiga Forever 2005 is available in three editions:
- Online Edition (downloadable installer for Windows systems, $29.95)
- Plus Edition (downloadable CD ISO image with Windows and platform-neutral additional content, $39.95)
- Premium Edition (a physical package containing the Plus Edition CD, two DVDs and an Amiga "Boing" epoxy dome decal, combined with an instant download of the installer for Windows, $59.95)
Previous versions of Amiga Forever included more limited
multimedia content on a single CD. After almost two years of
work, the new Premium Edition version features more than five
hours of "must-see" videos on two professionally-authored
dual-layer DVDs.
All versions of Amiga Forever include Amiga OS 1.3 and 3.X
files that make it possible to run "Classic" Amiga software
(including thousands of legally-downloadable games, demos and
other Amiga applications) on any PC, with special support for
the Windows platform, but also compatible with Mac OS X and
GNU/Linux systems.
On the software side, the new version makes use of XML-based
technology to more easily download, install and run
Amiga games and demos, more of which are now also included
in the package itself. Amiga Forever 2005 introduces
several changes that will make the transition to Windows Vista
as smooth as possible (and it already runs fine on the latest
beta, too), especially if the Amiga emulation and OS are hosted
in an environment that does not have administrator privileges.
But Amiga Forever is not just about games and videos:
professional users will for example appreciate the improved
SCSI-passthrough functionality and drivers, a feature that is
missing even in high-end "virtual systems", and that aims to
assist in the recovery of old data that may otherwise have
been considered lost.
Last but not least, the Premium Edition features the new
"Boing" decals, which Cloanto originally introduced with the
launch of Amiga Forever 1.0 in 1997. The new epoxy dome decals
are printed in three colors on brushed metal, and, by popular
demand, will from now on be included in every package.
At the same time, the Amiga Forever web site at
www.amigaforever.com just went live with over 200 new or updated pages. The site includes additional information about the different versions, including screenshots, technology
tutorials, links to game and demo download sites, and much more.
As always, the Amiga Forever Team at Cloanto would like to
thank the Amiga Community for its support over the past 20
years, which made everything possible, from the first steps
developing software for the Amiga, to this new version of Amiga
Forever.

Update des SN-EuroArchivs und neue Programme von Steffen Nitz
Steffen Nitz hat unter dem Titellink neben einem Update seines SN-EuroArchivs auf Version 2.05 zwei neue Programme veröffentlicht: das Gedächtnisspiel SN-Memory und das Verwaltungsprogramm für Anlage-Metalle SN-AnlagenArchiv II.
SN-Memory 0.75
Ein neues Memoryspiel mit 4 Kartensets nach dem altbekannten Spielprinzip. Eigene Kartensets können relativ einfach für das Spiel erstellt werden. Es werden alle Grafiken unterstützt, die über das Datatype-System geladen werden können, sowie Bildschirme bis 32 Bit und die Tonausgabe über AHI.
Das Spiel weist 6 Spielmodi mit der Feldgröße von 4x4 bis 14x14 auf sowie je zwei unendliche Highscore-Listen. Letztere können auf verschiedene Arten sortiert angezeigt werden, z.B. nach der benötigten Zeit und der Anzahl der aufgedeckten Karten.
SN-AnlagenArchiv II 0.51
Eine Verwaltung für Anlage-Metalle in Form von Münzen oder Barren, die es teilweise über Banken sowie aber auch z.B. eBay und andere Anbieter zu erwerben gibt. Das Programm ist geeignet für Gold, Silber, Platin und Paladium.
Es werden alle Tageskurse der vier Metalle seit 1978 in US-Dollar und Euro-Währung verwaltet. Das SN-AnlagenArchiv II ist zum SN-AnlagenArchiv I vollständig kompatibel geblieben, der Bestand kann also einfach übertragen werden.
Zudem stellt die neue Webseite http://gold.sn-archiv.de die aktuellen Goldcharts sowie einige der gängigen Goldanlagemünzen vor.
SN-EuroArchiv 2.05
Beim SN-EuroArch besteht jetzt die Möglichkeit, bei der KMS-HTML- und Sondermünzen-Generierung zu wählen, ob jedes Land in eine eigene HTML-Datei geschrieben werden soll. Dies ist eine Erleichterung gegenüber der alten Generierung, bei der man für jedes Land die Suchen-Einstellung ändern und dazu noch jedesmal die HTML-Einstellung erneut vornehmen mußte. Dies ist nun nicht mehr nötig, nur die HTML-Texte vor und nach der Generierung des Landes müssen/können zum einzelnen Land angegeben werden.
Beim Jahrgangs-Tabellen-HTML-Generator wird jetzt unterschieden, ob die Münze nur im KMS vorkommt oder nicht. Über gesonderte Symbole ist dies nun auch für nicht in der Sammlung vorhandene Münzen möglich.
Bilder vorhandener und nichtvorhandener KMS können für die Jahrgangstabelle nun durch ein gleichnamiges Gif-Bild ersetzt werden, da das Programm die wirkliche Größe der Bilder ermittelt und dem HTML-Dokument übergibt.
Als Kommentar zu den Symbol-Bildern des Jahrgang-HTML-Supports werden nicht mehr die Bildernamen mit Größe angezeigt, sondern es wird beschrieben, was das Symbol bedeutet.
Die Eingabefeld-Unterstützung wird für MorphOS nun dem Amiblitz-Compiler und dessen Deflibs überlassen.
Zudem wurden diverse Fehler bereinigt, unter anderem jener, daß bei der Sondermünzen-HTML-Generierung die Tabellenzeilen mit der Spaltenbeschriftung doppelt eingefügt wurden. (snx)

Linux: SuSE 10.0 in der finalen Fassung erschienen
Die Linux-Distribution SuSE 10.0 wurde jetzt in der finalen Fassung veröffentlicht. Neben der x86- und x86-64-Ausführung liegt ebenfalls eine Version für die PowerPC-Architektur vor, die auch auf dem Pegasos II läuft (SuSE-Liste der unterstützten PPC-Systeme).
Neben der offiziellen englischen Boot-Anleitung für den Pegasos auf OpenSuSE.org wurde kürzlich auch eine deutschsprachige Installationshilfe von Christoph Kimna erstellt (amiga-news.de berichtete). (snx)

AmiNetRadio V4 veröffentlicht
Das MP3- und Shoutcast-Abspielprogramm AmiNetRadio liegt jetzt in der Version 4 vor.
Neben diversen Fehlerbereinigungen wurde beispielsweise der Wiedergabelisten-Editor erweitert und synchronisiert Ihre Listen somit auf Wunsch nun mit den tatsächlich vorhandenen Dateien oder erstellt automatische Listen der meistgespielten Lieder. Mit GharArg liegt zudem eine neue grafische Oberfläche für jene Nutzer vor, die gerne alles in einem einzigen Fenster vereint haben. (snx)
