Pacman trifft auf Asteroids: Arcade-Spiel "Jurl" in Entwicklung
Mit "Jurl" ist ein neues Action-Game in Entwicklung, das in einer frühen Version angespielt werden kann und Elemente von Pacman und Asteroids verbindet. Ziel ist es, alle Weltraum-Diamanten einzusammeln, während man Alien-Gegnern ausweicht.
Jurl ist derzeit im Early-Access-Status, das heißt es ist spielbar, aber Schwachpunkte wie Probleme bei der Kollisionserkennung und ein paar grafische Bugs sind noch vorhanden.
Das Spiel, das von Tonsomo Entertainment für verschiedene Retro-Systeme entwickelt wird, ist als Download auf itch.io im "Name your price"-Modell erhältlich. (nba)

Video-Dokumentation: AmigaOS als Multitasking-Vorbild für Windows
David "Dave" Plummer, ein ehemaliger Mitarbeiter von Microsoft in der Position eines Operating System Engineers, berichtet in seinem erfolgreichen YouTube-Kanal "Dave's Attic" regelmäßig über Technikthemen. In seiner neuen Folge mit dem Titel "The Secret History of Windows Multitasking" beschreibt er, wie präemptives Multitasking in das Windows-Betriebssystem Einzug erhielt. Nicht überraschend dabei ist der von ihm beschriebene Einfluss des AmigaOS als Inspirationsquelle für die Microsoft-Entwickler. Plummer gibt hierzu einen ausführlichen Einblick aus technisch-historischer Sicht. (nba)

Cross-Compiler/Assembler: Calypsi 5.12
"Calypsi" ist eine Sammlung von Compilern und Assemblern, die unter Windows, Linux und macOS laufen und Code für verschiedene Retro-Plattformen erzeugen können - unterstützt werden u.a. 6502- und 68000-Prozessoren. Obwohl das Projekt bei Github beheimatet ist, sind die Quelltexte nicht frei verfügbar und die Nutzung der Tools nur für private Zwecke gestattet. Änderungen in Version 5.12:

- 65816: Adds support for Super Nintendo Entertainment System with --target=SNES option. When enabled the code generator will utilize the hardware multiplier and divider. By default the PPU multiplier is also used, unless the option --no-ppu-mul is specified.
Corrections
- Fixed a problem with initializing a static array with a string literal causing an internal error.
- Fix an internal error related to initializing a char array with a string literal surrounded by redundant curly braces.
- Fixed a register spill issue that in some rare situations could omit doing the spill operation.
- 65816: Fixed a problem accessing the upper byte of a 16-bit value read from a memory location resulting in that it read the value from the following location.
- 68000: Correct installation directories A2560K and A2560U targets so that header file can be found.

A600GS und A1200NG: AmiBrowser V46.20 (Vorabversion 2)
Für seine emulationsbasierten Systeme A600GS und A1200NG hat AmigaKit die Pre-Release 2 seines AmiBrowsers veröffentlicht. Änderungen:
- Add support for downloading files: currently supports downloading to drawer based and true disks only. RAM: and hardfile based disks will not work, but will fail silently. Hopefully this will be resolved at the next prerelease stage.
- Adds a simple downloads manager window: files downloaded in any given AmiBrowser session are listed, along with full file path and current status. Double click on file entry will open the AmiBench window containing the download.

Demoparty: Deadline 2025 (Berlin, 03.-05.10.)
Die diesjährige Ausgabe der Deadline-Demoparty findet vom 3. bis 5. Oktober in Berlin statt und bietet klassische Demo-Wettbewerbe, Seminare, ein Retro-Gaming-Turnier, DJs und Live-Sets und vieles mehr. Amiga-Beiträge können in den Wettbewerben Oldschool Demo, 4K Executable Graphics und 256 Byte Intro eingereicht werden. (dr)

8-/16-Bit-Emulator für macOS: Clock Signal V2025-09-14
Thomas Hartes Clock Signal ist ein möglichst unsichtbarer Multiplattformemulator für macOS und unixkompatible Systeme. Ziel des Programmierers ist es, dass sich der Benutzer überhaupt nicht mit dem Emulator und seiner Konfiguration befassen muss, sondern die jeweilige Software direkt gestartet wird. Unterstützt werden eine Reihe von 8- und 16-Bit-Systemen, daneben existiert auch eine Amiga-Emulation. Änderungen der aktuellen Version:
- corrects palette selection in 1bpp modes and improves timing slightly, while also bringing it into the club of machines that automatically reload tapes/disks/etc if they change outside of the emulator on macOS;
- makes various minor improvements to PC emulation;
- corrects an error with automatic typing into the ZX80 and ZX81.

Veranstaltung: Terminankündigung zur Classic Computing 2026
Im nächsten Jahr wird die Classic Computing vom 08.–11.10.2026 stattfinden. Nach Bayern wird sie dann in Niedersachsen ausgerichtet, und zwar in der ehemaligen Reithalle 10 des Jugend- und Kulturzentrums "CD-Kaserne" in Celle.
Die jährliche "Classic Computing" wird vom Verein zum Erhalt klassischer Computer e.V. organisiert und ist eine der größten Retrocomputer-Veranstaltungen in Deutschland. (dr)

DiagROM 2.0 Beta
DiagROM ist eine Diagnose-Software, die vom Anwender in ein EPROM gebrannt wird und dann das reguläre Kickstart-ROM eines Amigas ersetzt. Nach der Alphaversion 2.0 ist nun die Betaversion 2.0 verfügbar. Änderungen:
- 2025-08-30: Improved NTSC Support. Now should print statusline and keep text within NSTC borders during NTSC mode.
New RTC Test function. We now have TWO highly experimental RTC tests. the old one will soon be removed.
Added a experimental way of timing time between seconds in RTC. not sure if useful yet :) requires working CIA.
Some changes in CIA test routine. working on finding a way to detect the TOD bug. do NOT rely on that at the moment.
more cleaning up in source. planning to open up the source in time (VIEWING only!) hopefully quite soon
Decided to go to BETA stage. There are most likly still small bugs in this convertingstage! as always PLEASE report!
- 2025-08-05: More changes to the new CIA test. First fixed my small "oopsie" of naming ODD/EVEN CIAs incorrect. fixed now.
Added test for the TOD (Time of Day) ALARM Function. This requires INT2/6 to work aswell (from CIA)
Also added support for 60Hz screenmode in the test so now machines that are not able to switch to PAL will show if a CIA is OK
IF You have a NTSC machine reporting CIAs as not ok even if they are, please send me a screenshot.
old CIA test will soon be removed when this test shown reliable!. more improvements will come soon.
- 2025-07-05: ok sorry for being messy! Changed back baudrate to 9600 is I felt menus etc more unresponsive on slower machines. what do you think?
Send me a report if you want me to go back to 19200.
Added a new CIA test that I am still working on will be way more in depth now. can find if a CIA cannot trigger IRQs.

- 2025-03-19: Fixed bug that if there was no ram at beginning it did not scan for more ram. not finding working ram later in block if there was any.
Fixed bug that if there was no ram at all it actually halts system and try to show biterrors on screen with rastertricks
