Neue Alive Mailingliste
Alive Mediasoft hat eine neue Mailingliste eingerichtet, auf welcher
Neuigkeiten über deren Spiele bekannt gegeben werden. Außerdem teilt
Steve mit, dass es aufgrund von Bandbreitenproblemen über Weihnachten
dazu kam, dass die Website teilweise nicht erreichbar war. Die
Bandbreite wurde nun erhöht und die Probleme sollten beseitigt sein.

Istec 100x Konfigurationstool
Christoph Dietz schreibt:
Swen Stullich hat die Entwicklung des Tools zur
Konfiguration der Telefonanlagen Istec 100x eingestellt. Ich konnte ihn
überreden, mir den Source sowie ein generelles Keyfile zu überlassen, damit
beides der Nachwelt erhalten bleibt und das Tool weiterentwickelt werden
kann, falls sich ein interessierter Programmierer findet.
Zu diesem Zweck habe ich Programm und Source auf zwei Archive verteilt
(UFT-Istec_usr.lha und UFT-Istec_dev.lha) und bei OBI (Kurzform für
Aminet) zum Download bereit gestellt.

Des Videoprofis vierter Streich - VLRec NG 4.0 ist da!
VLRec NG 4.0 glänzt mit vielen neuen Features. Neben den überarbeiteten
Oberflächengrafiken im GlowIcons-Stil und der Aufnahmemöglichkeit
in verschiedenen Größen ist nun auch eine direkte Anbindung an fxPAINT
vorhanden. Weiterhin wurde die Geschwindigkeit von VLRec NG weiter
gesteigert und neue Effekte sind verfügbar. Ein unverzichtbares Produkt
für die Besitzer jeder VHI-kompatiblen Videokarte!
fxPAINT-Website aktualisiert
Die Website von fxPAINT wurde aktualisiert und erweitert. Sie finden
dort nun neue Screenshots und eine Übersicht über die meisten Effekte,
die fxPAINT bereithält. Außerdem wurde die Website im Design
vereinheitlicht und ist nun noch besser navigierbar.
Erste VHI-Entwickler-Informationen verfügbar
Ab sofort können Entwickler das FD-, Include-, und Autodoc-File zu
VHI herunterladen. Ein Beispieltreiber mit Sourcecode sowie die
vhimaster.library werden vorraussichtlich bis Mitte des Jahres 2000
folgen.

Interview mit Petro Tyschtschenko
Daniel Orth schreibt:
In einem Interview mit amiga.topcool.de gab Petro Tyschtschenko
bekannt, Amiga habe bereits 12.000 OS 3.5 verkauft. Diese Zahl reiche jedoch
nicht aus, um in die Gewinnzone zu kommen. Dazu wären 25.000 notwendig.
Außerdem nahm Petro zur AmigaOS - AmigaPlus - Fusion Stellung. Er finde es
schade, dass es (mit der PCgo-Beilage Amiga Magazin) nur noch zwei
Amiga-Zeitschriften gibt. Er schätze jedoch die AmigaOS als "ein sehr
professionelles Blatt".
Petro begrüßt das Open-Source-Projekt und steht mit dieser Gruppe in
Kontakt. Im Interview verrät der Amiga-Deutschland-Kapitän, wie er
persönlich sich den neuen Amiga vorstellt.

TAO-Group
bekanntgegeben (Pressemeldung).
Wir sind bereits in Kontakt mit den Gründern von Amino/Amiga Bill
McEwen und Fleecy Moss und werden uns in Kürze auch zu einem
Gespräch treffen.

139,--. Festplatten größer 4 GB werden ebenso unterstützt wie WB 3.5
Interessenten sollen bitte, falls sie dies noch nicht gemacht haben, über

Registrierung vornehmen. Wir setzen uns dann mit denjenigen in Verbindung.
Das Update wird zwischen DM 20,- und DM 30,- für Pro Version und DM 50,--

TAO-Group und QNX jetzt Mitglieder bei HaVi
Neben verschiedenen anderen Firmen gehören nun auch die TAO Group
und QNX Software Systems zu den Mitgliedern der HaVi Organisation.
HaVi wurde von acht Unternehmen aus der Unterhaltungsindustrie
im November 1999 gegründet, um dafür zu sorgen, dass
Standards u.a. für Hausnetzwerke festgelegt und eingehalten werden,
damit gewährleistet werden kann, dass auch Geräte verschiedener
Hersteller untereinander "kommunizieren" können.

- Tales of Tamar-Problem bei der Installation der Demo
Eternity schreibt:
Uns ist warscheinlich ein Fehler in OS 3.5 zum Verhängnis geworden.
Wenn sie versucht haben die Demo unter OS3.5 von der CD-ROM der
Amiga-Future zu installieren (durch Herüberziehen des Verzeichnisses)
werden von bestimmten Files die Protect-Flags verändert. Teilweise
sind somit Files nicht mehr lesbar, beschreibar oder sichtbar.
Was schafft Abhilfe?
Die Daten des Verzeichnisses von Hand auf Festplatte kopieren.
Wie ist egal. Nur das komplette Verzeichnis muß erhalten bleiben.
DOpus oder ein sonstiger Datei-Manager ermöglichen dies. Sie können
aber auch einfach den shell befehl copy nehmen.
Eine weitere Möglichkeit besteht darin alle Files einfach wie
bisher herüberzuziehen und anschließend einfach das komplette
Verzeichnis mit den Protect-Flags RWED zu versehen. (DOpus)

Kreditkartenklau im Internet
Ganz so sicher, wie es von Banken immer wieder gerne konstatiert wird,
scheint der Gebrauch von Kreditkarten im Internet doch noch nicht zu sein,
wie der obige Artikel dokumentiert. Ein Sicherheitsmangel im Programm zur
Authentifizierung von Kreditkarten der Firma Cybercash (im ICVerify) führte
dazu, dass ein 19jähriger Cracker aus Russland namens Maxus nach eigenen Angaben seit
1998 Geld nach Belieben umbuchte und sogar Geld aus Bankautomaten zog.
Nachdem der Cracker den amerikanischen Online-Musikhändler der
Firmengruppe eUniverse erfolglos damit zu erpressen versuchte, veröffentlichte
er angeblich 25.000 Kreditkartennummer auf seiner Website. Inzwischen
beschäftigt sich das FBI mit dem Fall.

- Bei Cyberdyne Systems gibt es
neue Version (V.44.41 beta 1) der HSMathLibs für MC68040.
- Bei Visual Engineering
gibt es Image Engineer und PlugIns zurzeit zu Sonderpreisen.
- Bezüglich Tales of Tamar gibt es bei Eternity einen
Projektstatus,
in welchem Projektleiter Martin Wolf einige Anmerkungen zur
Veröffentlichung der T.o.T.-Demo in Nr. 22 der
"Amiga Future Cover CD" macht.
Deutlich spürt man Wolfs Enttäuschung darüber, dass die AF das Demo zwar
dankend für die CD angenommen hat, aber in der Zeitschrift selbst überhaupt
nicht über das Spiel berichtet wird. Richtig sauer ist Wolf offensichtlich
darüber, dass die Soundtracks ohne deren Zustimmung einfach gekürzt wurden.
- Druckertreiber News:
Die Treiber 600C und 400C sowie alle Olivetti-Treiber wurden aktualisiert.
Außerdem finden Sie neue Tipps zu WP (Wordprocessor Printing).
- Ulrich Hambuch teilt uns mit, dass
die letzte OS3.1 (Scalos) Version von WBInfo (aktuelle Version v2.9b) ab
sofort als Freeware/Giftware auf deren
Homepage und im Aminet verfügbar
ist. Derzeit wird an einer V3 von WBInfo für AmigaOS 3.5 gearbeitet,
welche als Shareware erscheinen wird.
- Stuart Walker von Digital Images wendet sich in einem
offenen Brief an die
User. Wipeout 2097 verkauft sich gut, wofür er sich bedankt. Das Projekt
Space Station 3000 ist größer als geplant, aber Walker hofft,
bald ein definitives Releasedatum nennen zu können. Weiter teilt Walker mit,
dass DI vorhat, weitere PC-Spiele auf den Amiga zu portieren und Wipeout 2097
auf den Apple Mac portiert wird.
Da Stuart Walker zwischen dem
10. Januar und dem 31. März abwesend sein wird, bittet er um
Verständnis, wenn er in dieser Zeit keine eMail beantworten kann.

Jim Drew hat auf der Microcode Solutions Mailingliste gepostet, dass an der
PowerPC-Version von Fusion gearbeitet wird, aber aufgrund verschiedener Faktoren
mit der Fertigstellung erst Ende Januar/Anfang Februar gerechnet werden kann.
Macromedia hat angekündigt, dass der
Sourcecode für den Flash-Player und das Flash File Format für eine kostenlose
Lizenz zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Siehe auch Ankündigung bei

Diese zweite Presseerklärung ist bei Amiga Corp. wieder von der Website

Die Webseite von 2IDs (Symphonie Pro Support- sowie SoundFX
Presetsupport-Seite) ist nun wieder online erreichbar.
Die Symphonie Pro Supportseiten wurden komplett neu designed und
damit auch neue Features eingebaut. Ab sofort ist ein Forum verfügbar.
Das Gästebuch wurde komplett überarbeitet.
Ebenfalls neu ist die SoundFX Preset Area. Hier finden Sie zukünftig
Presets für SoundFX. Falls Sie selbst Presets erstellt haben, können
diese eingeschickt werden.
Die Texture CD " OVERLAY" ist fertig und kann ab sofort über den
2IDs-iNETstore bestellt werden. Ebenfalls dort zu finden ist 2IDs

Editor's Thoughts and Introduction:
Below we have the second big announcement in recent days by the
reborn Amiga Inc. This one concerns the "content platform foundation
partner" for future development. Not sure yet what all is covered by
that mouth numbing phrase but I am sure it will be interesting and, I
hope, encouraging to watch this relationship.
There seems to be much more a feeling of relief in the shrunken Amiga
Community at this ownership change than there was when Gateway took
over, and that's as it should be. If we don't make it this time, at
least we finally have some Amigans with vision giving it a try. If
only that had happened back in 1994 ...
We don't have an actual story on it, but if you read the items below
carefully you'll see that Amino is now Amiga. The change took place on
January 6. They'll be at the Amiga 2000 computer show this spring in
St. Louis, USA, and I can hardly wait. I believe this will be the
first chance for the newest Amiga Inc. to address a large body of the
community. If you can get there, it should be well worth your time.
If I have my Amiga history right, this is the third Amiga Inc. to be
set up. The original development company (or were they not an Inc.?),
Gateway's, and now the former Amino. Correct?

just a quick note to say "keep up the good work" ! i enjoy receiving
this e-publication. also, let me add that i prefer this "e-mail style
" as opposed to the old "download style "!!!! makes it easier for me

Thanks very much for the note and the vote of confidence. Not sure
who's old download style you mean as we've always been e-mail based,
but I think I know what you're getting at. It's always been one of our
goals to get the news out to people, rather than wait for someone to
come to a website. We think the Amiga community needs both, and our
method can help get the message to people who would never see the
websites.

In other words, they have the right to develop something and call it
an Amiga, but not to make or sell any of the old hardware, possibly
the OS either. Then again, that might not to be a bad thing. We all
know how far behind the current hardware and OS are.
When Tom Schmidt announced that Amiga wasn't going to be a computer
platform anymore, I started looking at the alternatives. I figured
there were three; Linux, Mac and (GULP!) Windows.
- Linux is a Unix variant at heart. Switching to it meant night
school courses just to learn to use it. (I still haven't entirely
ruled that out.)
- My GF uses a Mac and she's happy with it. I looked at the new iMacs
and they're nice machines, reminiscent in some ways of my good ol'
A1200, and the price wasn't too bad, considering what it was. Then I
took a gander at the software and nearly had a coronary! $800 for a
paint program???
- Then there's Windows. I tried to look it up on the 'net. At first
all I found were jokes pages. I surfed over a few of them. It was
educational; nobody likes Windows! At last I found MS's homepage. The
first thing I saw there was ol' Visa Bill Gate's editorial about
"freedom to innovate," (whinging over the Anti-Trust Court obviously.)
By this time I was wondering what had possessed me to even consider
doing this to myself!
I hope to heck Amino makes a go of Amiga. There are no good
alternatives out there.

Allan,
I certainly agree with the sentiment in your last paragraph. It's
very early to have a feel for how Amino - now officially Amiga Inc. -
will do, but they've got the community in mind and that's a real plus.
You do have one misconception in your note. Amiga Inc. has a license
from Gateway to the old patents, so there's really nothing stopping
them from doing just about anything they want to, including building
"classic" type machines if they wish.
With the new Amiga in place, I think there's at least a good
possibility we won't need an alternative.

Amino Development Corporation, renamed Amiga Inc. on Jan. 6, will
exhibit at the Amiga 2K show.
In a conversation today with Bill McEwen, President and CEO of Amino,
now Amiga Inc.,stated that they will definitely exhibit at the Gateway
Computer Show - Amiga 2K, April 1 & 2, 2000.
Things are happening with Amiga 2K, just as we promised. Stay tuned

ShadowWorks Software regrets to announce the end of the NewsRog
project for the Amiga. NewsRog is an NNTP News client running on Amiga
personal computers.
Unfortunately, due to a combination of factors which include the lack
of a market for Amiga software, obsolescent hardware, and a recent
increase in piracy and fraudulent credit card orders, it is no longer
financially possible to continue developing NewsRog. The last version
stands at 1.8b, and the update is available to all registered users
via the web page below:

ShadowWorks Software is proud to have pioneered a large number of
news client features that have yet to be duplicated in any other
software that we are aware of. We regret that it was not possible to

Amiga 2k ist das nächste großere Amiga-Event, welches Anfang
April in St. Louis stattfindet und von Bob und Diana Scharp organisiert wird.
Bill McEwen, Fleecy Moss und Petro Tyschtschenko werden als Amiga Inc.
auf der Gateway Computer Show präsent sein.

Nachdem die BETA-Version schon einige Zeit erhältlich war, ist die endgültige
Version 5.1 des WaveTracer DS Mark V jetzt verfügbar. Der Download ist auf
der VWP-Homepage möglich. Das Update ist nur für Besitzer der Vollversion
möglich, es wird die Seriennummer benötigt (zu finden im WaveTracer-Menü
Special", Menüpunkt "User-Info").
- Trogladite Software: Größeres
UnInstaller Update geplant.
Der neue UnInstaller soll nicht nur Skripte, die für Version 1.0 gemacht wurden,
unterstützen, sondern auch Skripte, die für 1.1+ erstellt wurden. Daneben sollen
auch Commodore Installer-Logfiles, der neue UnInstaller-Standard und eine
überarbeitete Benutzeroberfläche eingearbeitet werden.
- Ein technisches Preview des Opera-Browser für

Mushroom Software (F1 Software und

Heise: Hunderttausende Surfer zahlten doppelt
«Möglicherweise hunderttausende Internet-Kunden haben in den vergangenen
Monaten doppelte Telefongebühren bezahlt. Betroffen sind Nutzer der
großen Online-Dienste, die einen sogenannten Preselection-Vertrag
abgeschlossen haben. Das berichtet das Multimedia-Magazin Com.p@ss
des hessischen Fernsehens. Mittels Preselection wählen Telefonkunden
für Ferngespräche dauerhaft einen bestimmten Netzbetreiber, auch wenn
die Telekom den Anschluss betreibt.
In einem konkreten Fall hatte ein Com.p@ss-Zuschauer einen
Preselection-Vertrag mit Mannnesmann Arcor abgeschlossen. Zum
Surfen nutzte er jedoch die Dienste der Telekom-Tochter T-Online.
Bei der Anwahl der T-Online-Nummer 0191011 berechnete zum einen das
Online-Unternehmen seine üblichen Surf- und Telefonkosten, doch
zusätzlich hielt auch Mannesmann Arcor die Hand auf: Das Unternehmen
kassierte Ferngesprächsgebühren in Höhe von 12 Pfennigen je Minute.»
