WHDLoad: New packages until 08.06.2013
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups on your harddisk that were not compatible with anything but floppy disks. The following installers have been added until June 8th, 2013:

Amiga-/Atari ST-clone: MiST
Till Harbaum's "MiST" is a FPGA-motherboard which is to emulate different home computer or arcade automats with the help of different "cores". Originally MiST has been only a Atari ST-clone and therefore - similar to Minimig - was called "MiniST". Since then the project is developed as "MiST" (aMIga/ST).
MiST has a more powerful FPGA which can also emulate a 68000-CPU and therefore does not need an additional processor. The motherboard has among others four USB-ports, a SD-slot, two ports for Amiga-/Atari joysticks as well as a VGA-output.
The Polish dealer Lotharek sells the boards which costs with black or white metal case 190 Euro (plus shipping). Currently the cases are produced. The computers will be delivered at the end of June.

Memory extension: A604n
The next version of the Amiga-600 memory extension A604 developed by Individual Computers (amiga-news.de reported on it) is called A604n and since today can be bought (Alinea, AmigaKit, Vesalia). amiga-news.de: Old news imported to database
Just like many other websites, from 1998 until 2001 amiga-news.de mainly worked with static HTML-sites which at that time were maintained with GoldEd and some ARexx-macros. Since January and June 2001, the German and English sections have been using a tailor-made database solution which was created by Sven Drieling.
Now Christoph Gutjahr and Sven Drieling have integrated all 10.000 news from the "static phase" of Amiga-News into the database. Among others, about 900 HTML-files had to be converted and refered - additionally the server now manages many redirections for as many as possible external links are supposed to stay valid.
Altogether, the Amiga-News database includes almost 50.000 news. A little walk through our archives always is a worthwhile delight - for you can find sad and still more sad news as well as very appropriate comments or some crazy news.

Game launcher: X-bEnCH 0.90 Alpha
Press release: X-bEnCh is an Amiga game launcher & more: With 128 colors on screen (even on a simple A500), this frontend can autoscan your hard-drive to find all your WHDLoad games or your .exe files and organize them in launching listings.
X-bEnCh can also manage manual listings and has an internal script system, the X-bEnCh Scripts (for non WHDLoad games for example). It requires very few ressources and is compatible with all Amiga setups. X-bEnCh also has an integrated CLI fully compatible with the Workbench CLI features.
Please note that this version is not complete. I put it online because there has been no update since last March but all is not yet implemented. I will soon release some new 0.9x updated (0.91/0.92/...) to add all the missing features and fix some bugs that are already known.
Main New features:
- Top15 listing: This new feature is able to create a top of all your lists. Note that the top15 is already functional as previously planned, the needed database is created from the 0.8x versions
- Multikeys FastJump: Simply type the name of the game that you want and the new search engine will drive you directly to that one
- XplorEr: The long awaited X-bEnCh file manager is finaly here! Still young it will evolve quickly in the nexts release

Hardware announcement: FlashKick 1200
FlashKick 1200 is an extension which allows you to update the Kickstart-ROM with a Flash-update. Additionally the board, which is inserted between the mainboard and the originally ROMs, has four clockports and can save three separate ROM-versions.
Currently FlashKick 1200 still is not available. Instead of it, Przemyslaw Krawczyk asks you to express your interest uner the title link via eMail.

AROS: 68k-Distribution AROS Vision 1.6.0
Olaf Schönweiß has updated his AROS/68k-distribution which is a combination of AROS and AmigaOS software (screenshot, English tutorial). Additional to the changes listed below, in version 1.6.0 some software parts were removed.

MorphOS: Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force (multiplayer)
After the release of the source codes of Quake 3, a programmer tried to programm a playable version of Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force which is based on the Quake 3-engine. At least he succeeded in finishing the multiplayer mode called "Holomatch".
Szilárd 'Bszili' Biró has ported this project which is called efport to MorphOS. Data of the commercial original are required which before under Windows should be updated to version 1.2 - e.g. by installing the expansion pack.

Web-Browser: NetSurf 3.0 for AGA-chipset (beta version)
Artur 'Arti' Jarosik has released a port of the browser NetSurf which works with the AGA-chipset (Video).
This is a first beta version which is very slow. The layout is scaled to 70% on a screen with 640 x 480 pixels. Therefore it might be necessary to adjust the size of the fonts.

Internet over parallel port: plipbox 0.4
With Christian 'lallafa' Vogelgsang's plipbox Amigas without many extensions can go online. The Arduino-based adapter can be connected to the parallel port and provides a connection to the Ethernet-port of the Arduino board. The magPLIP-protocol is used.
Version 0.4 is a hardware update. An Arduino Nano with Ethernet-Shield is used. The firmware image as well as the board design of the "plipbox nano" were updated.

MorphOS 3.2: Panel-Objects / No Warp3D-support for R300-boards
By reworking the Ambient pictogramm menus for MorphOS 3.2 by Stefan 'Kronos' Kleinheinrich, now so called panel-objects can be used. Three of such objects have been made available in the MorphZone (Screenshot): from the left to the right you can see a time display, an animated Elephant and a monster.
Nicolas 'Henes' Sallin confirmed a bad news: The warp3d.library and therefore all Amiga games which access it, cannot benefit from the TinyGL-R300-driver since the rave3d.library is not developed further any longer.

Trevor Dickinson explaining the failure of the AmigaOS 4 Netbook
In October 2011, Steven Solie from the OS4 team announced a netbook for AmigaOS 4 for a price "between 230 and 300 Euro". That same day Ben Hermans and Hans-Jörg Frieden from Hyperion delivered some additional information, but there were no official statements since then.
In April the British computer magazine Micro Mart published an interview with Trevor Dickinson from A-EON (PDF), during which the possibility of an AmigaOS 4 Laptop or Netbook was adressed:
Dickinson explains that they had a closer look at the LimeBook - the very same hardware many people assumed to be the base for the announced AmigaOS Netbook back in 2011. After a detailed cost analysis - hardware engineering, porting the OS, driver development, licence fees for AmigaOS and branding, importing the hardware - they realised that even when producing batches of 1000 units they wouldn't have been able to get the end user price below 580 Euro.
This, in combination with the very weak CPU, prompted A-EON to abandon the project and to look for other solutions. When the interview was discussed on amigaworld.net, Solie finally posted another statement about the project, apparently without having read the article in question: "official word from Hyperion is that the original Netbook project is on hold. James 'jahc' Carroll's MUI-based IRC-client for all Amiga systems, called WookieChat, is now available under the AROS Public License 1.1. Additionally interested users for the management of the MorphOS/AmigaOS-builds and/or for a further development are wanted which can contact Krzysztof 'Deadwood' Śmiechowicz under the title link.

CygnusED: Download version available
Press release: Since today CygnusED 5 is available in the online shop of APC&TCP at a discounted price. Of course CygnusED will continue as usual to be available on CD as well. CygnusED is the most famous text editor for the Amiga.
The program was developed 25 years ago (1986/1987) by Bruce Dawson, Colin Fox & Steve LaRocque (CygnusSoft software) and originally appeared by self-distribution. Since then Olaf Barthel has developed the program continuously and for some time version 5 is available. Detailed information is available on its support website at the title link.
But not only CygnusED is now available as a download version. Other products from APC&TCP such as Roadshow, Data Workbench, Gunbee, Marbelous and others are also available as a download version. Furthermore, PDF files of sold out Amiga Future issues are available from the online shop. (snx)

AmigaOS 4: Assist 1.1
Assist is a collection of over 300 tutorials and articles for users of AmigaOS 4.1 on the operating system itself but also on important programms, websites and downloads.
In version 1.1 the AppStore-function of Jack is described. Besides, an ARexx-port as well as further articles habe been added. Existing installations will be updated over the AmiUpdate.

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: Ask Me Up 1.2.2
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up is a video game for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS about general knowledge (screenshot). There is also a L and XL edition with a two player mode. A demo version with 80 questions is available for free.
In version 1.2.2 several translations have been reworked.

MorphOS: Scriba 1.9.0
Scriba is a simple text editing software developed by Carsten Siegner which is still in development. In version 1.9.0 the tool "LogoCreator" for creating company logos on visiting cards has been added.
Scriba itself as well as LogoCreator can import graphic files in SVG-format as you can see in the first of two screenshots. You can also save the created logos as PNG or SVG files.

Internet over parallel port: plipbox 0.3
With Christian 'lallafa' Vogelgsang's plipbox Amigas without many extensions can go online. The Arduino-based adapter can be connected to the parallel port and provides a connection to the Ethernet-port of the Arduino board. The magPLIP-protocol is used.
Version 0.3 includes updates of the firmware and of the Amiga driver which introduces a MAC-Bridge.

MorphOS: Bounty programm for Return to the Roots
On MorphOS.pl under the title link a bounty project for porting the game Return to the Roots, which is an inofficial extension to "The Settlers II", was established.
The G5-project was finished by releasing MorphOS 3.2. For the TORCS-port as well as for Speed Dreams first version are available since April.

AmigaOS 4: WLAN-driver atheros5000.device 1.4
With the atheros5000.device a network board driver for AmigaOS 4 is available for WLAN-PCI-boards (54 Mbps, 802.11g). The WPA/WPA2-encryption as well as WEP are supported. PCI-Express-boards may also work but have not been tested.
For AROS and MorphOS this driver which was written by Neil Cafferkey is already available. A port for AmigaOS 3.x probably will not succeed due to the DMA-requirements.

MorphOS: NTFS-3G filesystem R4
Leif Salomonsson has updated the NTFS-3G-driver for his MorphOS-implementation of the FUSE-framework, Filesysbox. Version 4 is based on the latest NTFS-3G source code and requires MorphOS 3.2. NTFSLabel and NTFSFix have been added.

System-Patch for A3000/4000: ApolloFix loads 680x0.library to OnBoard-RAM
André 'Ratte' Pfeiffer has written a patch for A3000-/A4000-users which always loads the 68040 and 68060 libraries to the virtual memory of the main board. This helps Apollo accelerator boards working without any problems with the reset-routines of some versions of the 68060.library. The author supposes that this patch improves the system stability of other accelerator boards as well.

MorphOS 3.2 released
Press release: The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 3.2, which introduces support for Power Mac G5 workstations, iBook G4 laptops and additional PowerBook G4 models.
The 3.2 release also has a strong focus on improved network support with a completely new and improved NetStack core as well as support for wireless networks. In addition, there are several new network-related tools such as VNC client, a Remote Desktop Client and a tool showing detailed network statistics.
As usual, the latest release also offers many new features and bug fixes. For an overview of the included changes, please read our release notes.
We strongly urge new users to carefully read our installation and troubleshooting guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 3.2 is available for download in our files section. (snx)

Text viewer: EvenMore 0.77, with MorphOS-port
Chris Perver's text viewer EvenMore now is also available as MorphOS-port. Changes in version 0.77:
- Sped up scrolling by storing some commonly used values from nexted objects in variables instead. Also did the same for freeing memory for plugins.
- Updated OpenURL library code for version 7.10. Hopefully this will allow the OpenURL function to work on MorphOS.
- The VANILLAKEY event was stopping the string gadgets from working on the MorphOS port. Changed code to use MapRawKey() instead.
- Now uses ScrollRaster() function instead of ClipBlit() for scrolling window contents. ClipBlit was faster on AmigaOS 3, but did not work whenever a window was moved out of the screen on MorphOS.

Flickerfixer: Indivison AGA Mk2 CR A1200/4000T
From now on the Indivision AGA Mk2 is available again in different shops. Individual Computers has called its slightly reworked version "Cost Reduced" - the DVI-port now is molded and "components of the small DVI-connector board have now moved to the main flickerfixer". There are not any other changes.
Due to the changed size of the board (picture) maybe the Indivision Mk2 AGA does not collide with a Blizzard Vision any longer but this could not be tested by the developer.
Jens Schönfeld wrote: "The new version "Indivision AGA MK2cr" uses a different connector for the DVI cable. It gets in the way of electrolytic capacitor CE164C in the A4000T. If you want to use the new version in the A4000T, you need to replace that capacitor with a lower-profile ceramic type."

MorphOS: Return to PowerUP-support?
Version 1.4.5 of the PowerPC operating system MorphOS, which still is available, was the last version which did support accelerator boards developed by phase 5.
Now two screenshots have been discovered which show the still unreleased version MorphOS 3.2 on an Amiga: morphos_pup3_1.jpg, morphos_pup3_2.jpg.

AmigaOS 4: FastView 1.2, SysMon 3.2, FastCompress 1.8, NetDock 50.6
Guillaume Boesel has released updates of some of his programms:
FastView 1.2
FastView is a MUI-based picture viewer which shows the content of a directory as thumbnails. In version 1.2 pictures can be shown via double-click in its real size or via single-click in screen size. With the spacebar you can choose your favourite view. Additionally there are more translations and some minor bugs have been fixed.
SysMon 3.2
SysMon is a little, MUI-based system monitor (NList.mcc wird benötigt). In version 3.2 the benchmark "SDLbench" has been added. Additionally for the memory test RageMem, some comparison values for different computer configurations have been added.
FastCompress 1.8
FastCompress is a collection of four tools which help you to archive directories or files to the formats LhA, ZIP, LZX or 7z.
NetDock 50.6
Netdock is a "Docky" which shows the network activity. In version 50.6 with tooltype you can avoid to show the used interface. Additionally a bug of the AmiUpdate-support was fixed.

AmigaOS 4: OSDLauncher 0.3.6
OSDLauncher simulates the multimedia-On-Screen-Displays. Instead of controlling multimedia functions like "louder", "quiter" or "break" with global hotkeys, with these shortcuts OSDLauncher is started first.
The programm then shows the current state (volume, start/stop, eject etc.) and transfers the command via ARexx to the multimedia application (screenshot, video).
OSDLauncher requires AllKey, Mixer, Eject.Os4, MUI_Calc, das PNG-IconModule, AmigaAmp 3.8 and WBRun 53.4. The author explained the installation in the Readme-file and pointed out that this is still a beta version.

Emulator: WinUAE 2.6.0
Today version 2.6.0 of the well-known Amiga emulator WinUAE has been released. Among others, now the MMUs of the 68030, 68040 and 68060 are completely emulated. With it, Amix, Linux, NetBSD, Enforcer and WHDLoad do work with MMU-option without any limitations.
New features:
- SCSI and ATAPI (IDE) CD drive emulation
- Full 68030, 68040 and 68060 MMU emulation. Amix, Linux, NetBSD, Enforcer, WHDLoad MMU option and more fully working
- Built-in full CHD CD and HD image support. HD image support is read-only
- Partial partition hardfile on the fly eject/replacement support, requires filesystem that has removable drive support
- Multiple Direct3D shader filters can be enabled simultaneously, optionally shader can be now run after scaling and filtering
- Directory filesystem shortcut (.lnk) and symbolic links are mapped to Amiga soft links
- Added support for mountlist-like hardfile configuration files
- Game Ports panel Remap GUI rewritten, more intuitive, supports manually added events
- 100Hz+ vsync mode black frame insertion support, reduces LCD motion blur

- A590/A2091/A3000 SCSI emulation compatibility improved (Amix, NetBSD, etc.)

- 68060 + more compatible checked was unreliable
- 68040/68060 no FPU/FPU disabled exception stack frame fixed
- A2024 and Graffiti emulation memory leak fixed
- FPU rounding mode was reset when using filters
- Some USB game controllers had ghost events (move axis, button event is triggered or vice versa)
- CD32 CDs with multiple tracks didn't boot

AmigaOS 4: Dir Me Up 2.0
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Dir Me Up is a commercial file manager for AmigaOS 4.1. With version 2.0, it can also show pictogramms or thumbnails, includes an integrated picture viewer and can refer files to external programms. Additionally a PDF-tutorial was published which introduces the programm.

AmigaOS 4: Update of Envy24HT audio driver
ACube Systems has updated the Envy24HT audio driver. Now it supports the VT1618-Codec. Thir means that now also inexpensive PCIe soundcards such us the Syba SD-PEX63034 can be used in the AmigaOne 500 and AmigaOne X1000.
The latest version of the driver is delivered with AmiUpdate. If other soundcards also work with this driver, then Hyperion Entertainment asks you to contact it.
