100-Mbit network interface card: X-Surf 100 available
Three months ago, Jens Schönfeld (Individual Computers) announced a 100-Mbit network interface card which now is available.
For about 130 Euro it provides the following features:
- 100 Mbit physical connection
- 32-bit Zorro-III-interface for maximum performance
- Sana-II-Device for Amiga OS 2.0 up to Amiga OS 3.9
- Linux-driver in progress
- power-saving 3,3V-technology with 1,8V core voltage
- space-saving design
- gold-plated Zorro contact strip and stainless stell faceplate
- Extension interface for (still not available) USB-modul

AROS: Star Trek Voyager - Elite Force
After the version for MorphOS, Szilárd 'Bszili' Biró has ported Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force which is based on the Quake-3-engine to AROS/x86. So far the so called efport project only supports the "Holomatch" multiplayer mode. The original files of the game are required.

AROS: AEROS-Betaversion 4 for Raspberry Pi
For registered users and purchasers via eBay the fourth beta version on Pascal Papara's Debian-Linux-hosted AROS-distribution AEROS for the Raspberry Pi is available. "The difference to the "supporter" version is that you can't launch Linux apps from inside AROS." But beta version 3 inclusive lx now is avaialble for all.
Beta version 4 now is based on the stable ARMhf-ABI written by Krzysztof 'deadwood' Smiechowicz. It is now possible to compile programs which should also work with future versions. A cross-compiler for the i586-architecture is included as well as other software, demos, games, screenrecorder and Wazp3D.

TCP-Stack: AmigaKit sells AmiTCP 4
Accordung to a press release, the British trader Amigakit will sell the full version of the TCP-stack AmiTCP 4. AmiTCP was the first common TCP-stack under AmigaOS. Later version 4.0 was part of the "Netconnect"-bundle and together with the graphical user-interface "Genesis" is under AmigaOS 3.9 handles the network connection.
AmigaKit will sell AmiTCP 4 together with its graphical user-interface EasyNet as "EasyNet Professional Edition".

AmiBlitz³: New website and forum
Jens Henschel wrote: "Because amiforce.de cannot be accessed for several months and the maintainer does not response, some weeks ago I have reserved the domain amiblitz.de and now have copied the official site.

AmigaOS 4: Graphic program SketchBlock 2.2
The latest version of Andy Broad's graphic program SketchBlock now can use selected areas as mask for a graphic operation. You can mark rectangles, ellipses and areas with identical colour. "It's also possible to create a selection mask from the alpha channel of a layer". Other changes:
- There now a thumbnail in the layers list
- Pixel transforms are now true plugins. Also added SaturationAdjust and GradientFill, RadialFill, and Ripples filters.
- Martin "Mason" Mertz has contributed some great new toolbar images and a splash logo. Thanks Mason!
- All (well nearly all) actions can be recorded into a macro, which can then be run or edited as needed
- Some bug fixes

AmigaOS 4: AmiSystemRestore release 1 beta version 7
Chris Handley's AmiSystemRestore "aims to give AmigaOS4 a similar ability to Window's very useful system restore" by saving the systems files (SYS:) if new programms are installed. In beta 7 a bug was fixed which could can result in loss of data if softlinks were used.

A600-accelerator board Fúria EC020 finished, production started
As Boris 'Boboo' Krizma reported, the development of his accelerator board "Fúria EC020" has finished and the production was started. First boards will be delivered to users who supported the development financially.
Likely the delivery will start at the end of September. One board costs 90 Euro. The number of the boards is limited by the number of available CPUs. A MC68EC020FG25 processor is used as well as FPU MC68882FN40. The processor has 28Mhz but can be overclocked by the user up to 37,8 Mhz.
With the help of included tools "Furiatune" provided by Martin Kuchinka you can configure some of the features of the Fúria:
- Set FPU and CPU-caches on/off
- (De)activate IDE-Speedup
- ShadowROM (copy Kickstart ROM to RAM)
- MapROM (load and use ROM-images from harddrive with up to 1 MB)
- integration of additional 1,5 MB of virtual memory [probably at the expense of ShadowROM-/MapROM-functions, editor's note]
- Rebbot of the computer
- Display or reset of all Fúria-paramters

Developer tools: vasm 1.6c and vlink 1.4c
Frank Wille has updated vasm and vlink. Currently both uopdates are only available as source codes.
Vasm is a portable assembler which supports several CPU-families, vlink is a portable linker which can handle a lot of binary formats. Both are part of the compiler package vbcc.

MorphOS: Scriba 1.9.5 with spreadsheet editor
Scriba is a simple text processing software written by Carsten Siegner. In version 1.9.5 you can now create spreadsheet which is still an early version.
You can write entries and format them but you cannot export or import data or insert spreadsheets in a document.

Game: Bugfix update for "Asgard Met Vikings"
For the recently released party game "Asgard Met Vikings", an update is available which fixes some minor bugs:
- Cracktro: Jerky scroller on fast machines
- If you start the Game from Workbench, the Highscores are saved in SYS: Now in the same directory as the game
- Sometimes the sprites were corrupt

AmigaOS 4: Port of new edition of Battle Squadron announced
Torben Larsen of Cope-com has announced that the new edition of his Shoot'em Up classic Battle Squadron soon will be ported to AmigaOS4. For some time the game has already been sold for Android and iOS. Currently the game is tested in a solution of 1024x768.

Text processing: Rashumon source code offered
Under the title link Michael Haephrati who is the author of Rashumon has contacted the users because the Wikipedia entry might be deleted. Possibly Rashumon, which was written in 1989, was the first Amiga text processing software which supported multiple languages. Also, he offers the source code, if anybody is interested in developing it further.

Workbench complement: BetterWB 2.9
Similar to AIAB, AmiKit or AmigaSYS, BetterWB is a collection of Workbench tools for AmigaOS 3.1 which are simple and require low hardware resources.
BetterWB works on all Amigas, is available as disk images and requires the original Workbench 3.1 disks (3.0 might work as well but was not tested) and 8 MB harddrive memory.
Changes:
- CAMD.library and Midiports preferences for midi supported programs
- DMS command writes and reads its floppy images from CLI
- Gzip, the very popular multiplatform compressor is now included
- LZX is yet another compressor
- PFS3 All in one (now requires less memory for usage and autodetects large drives)
- SuperPlus has been updated and no longer shows the infamuos beta warning message
- TSGUI lets you read and write adf and dms floppy images with an easy to use interface
- WBStartup preferences enables you to select the commodities you want to run when workbench loads
- New commodities: DontShowIBorder (removes icon borders), ModePro (screen promotion) and MagicMenu (flying menus)
- Printfiles tool has been updated with plenty of features and an arexx port
- TagLiFE is a simple patch for the utility.library to install a
new set of optimized assembler routines to get a faster TagList support
- Now boot in CLI mode with maximum ram to run memory demanding games and demos by booting without startup sequence and running add44k from CLI
- Text datatype was rolled back, due to printing bugs
- Lha can now adequately work under low memory condition
- Boards.library allows proper identification of Amiga hardware
- WhichAmiga replaces showconfig, as it has plenty more features
- PatchWB solves many workbench bugs
- Many minor tweaks and bugfixes

Today Stefan Pietzonke has released version 3.1.0 of his virtual maschine Nano (amiga-news.de reported). Compared with the Linux version, Nano under AROS/x86 still has not included the JIT-compiler.

Operating system: NetBSD 6.1.1
The new stable release of NetBSD operating system is now available. Version 6.1.1 brings important security updates and bug fixes. The only Amiga specific difference from 6.1 is a bug fix related to kernel panic with Deneb cards equipped with firmware v11. (snx)

Interview: Mike Oldfield used an Amiga
Under the title link the singer Mike Oldfield ("Moonlight Shadow") told in an interview that at the end of the 80ies he used an Amiga to compose his album "Amarok":
Interviewer: "Musician friends of mine continue to marvel at Amarok. They can't understand how you made something that complex prior to Pro Tools or Logic."
Mike Oldfield: "And it was all hand-played as well. I used a very primitive sequencer and sampler that was a precursor to Notator, which became Logic. It was on a primitive computer called an Amiga. I would arrive every morning and plot something out in skeleton form, put it on the multitrack and say to Tom "Okay, we're going to work on that. That's the little sketch." Everything on top of that sketch was hand-played. There were no synthesizers. Eventually, we threw away the sketch. That was the technique of working on it."

Monitor switcher: SwitchControl with experimental DPMS-support
SwitchControl is used to control different self-made monitor-switcher. In this way graphic boards without a monitor-switcher (BVision, PCI-graphic boards) can be used together with an Amiga monitor.
In the experimental version 1.1d of SwitchControl the DPMS-support was added: SwitchControl set the AGA-output to "suspend" and waits a few seconds before it switches to the graphic board. In this way perhaps some sync-problems can be fixed which may occur in the combination of Micovitec M1764, 15khz and graphic board.

AmigaOS 4: Vector drawing program MindSpace 1.2c
MindSpace is a program which can create spider diagrams and mind maps, UML, ER and use case diagrams. In version 1.2c the user-interface has been "cleaned up".
The author now explained that he is not going to develop version 2 because Sodipodi (under AmiCygnix) and AmiFig are already available as similar software.

Hometown of DMA Design put up Lemming-statues
The headquarter of the software developer of DMA Design formerly was situated in Scottish Dundee. Among others it released the famous Amiga classic Lemmings. Near the former DMA-headquarter the city administration now has put up some Lemming-statues which are trying to climb a stone column.

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: Ask Me Up 1.3.0
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up is a "video game about general knowledge" for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS. You get one question and four possible answers and you have to chosse the right one. The L- and XL-edition additionally have a two player mode. A demo version with 80 questions is available for free.
In version 1.3.0 translations for Portuguese and Polish have been completed as well as translations for other languages : Italian (95%), Greek (51%), Spanish (36%), German (17%) and Swedish (9%). All other questions are in English.

Game launcher: X-bEnCH 0.90 beta
X-bEnCH (Youtube-video of version 0.8) is a game launcher with a graphical user-interface which can start WHDLoad-games (.slave, .exe) and requires very few resources.
Two months ago version 0.90 alpha was released. Now several minor bugs have been fixed and a first beta version released.

AmigaOS 4: Free keyfile for Warp3D picture viewer WarpView
WarpView loads pictures with the help of datatypes and shows them with Warp3D - which makes fast scaling possible but requires additional video-RAM. The author Stephen "Cobra" Fellner now has provided a free keyfile for the program which so far was sold as shareware.

Paint program: HollyPaint 1.1 (for all Amiga systems)
HollyPaint is a simple, with Hollywood created paint program with MUI-based user-interface. Additional to basic painting functions, all Hollywood filters like "Sepiatone", "Blur" or "Gray" are offered.
Versions for AmigaOS 3/4, MorphOS and AROS are available. The author himself could only test the AROS-version. HollyPaint is open-source software. The sources stand under a BSD-licence and are available on sourceforge.net.
Changes in version 1.1:
- Rebuilt with Hollywood 5.3
- Fixed issues with running stable under AROS, Morphos and AmigaOS4
- Colorwheel with alpha sliders in own window
- Individual setting of color for gradient, shadow and edge
- Made toolbar window resizable

- Copy Canvas: creates a brush from whole canvas
- Put Back: place brush at given coordinates
- Implemented reverting of brush
- Print hotspot offset in brush information window
- User borderless display. This makes it possible to load pictures with the same resolution as the screen
- Print the size of the picture if it is too large to be opened
- Added a checkmark to the status bar which shows if a brush is active
- Use checkmark instead of text objects to show mask and alpha state

WHDLoad: New packages until 03.08.2013

Games of chance: Ami Jackpot 1.21, Jackpot Corruption, The 7 Bandits
Juan Martin's Ami Jackpot is a classic slot machine with Amiga logos (Boing-ball, Kitty etc.) written with Hollywood which is available for all Amiga systems. Version 1.21 fixes a bug and adds some new buttons for starting a new game.
Jackpot Corruption and The 7 Bandits are two other slot machines which are only available for for AmigaOS 3.9, AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS. Some additional Hollywood-plugins are required.
