macOS: RetroVisor – Simulation of a CRT monitor display (also) for emulato
Dirk Hoffmann, known for the vAmiga emulator for macOS, has also written a program called RetroVisor for that operating system, which is designed to make a selected screen area appear as if it was displayed by a cathode ray tube - e.g. for the visually "too perfect" display of emulated Amiga games.
Corresponding examples are shown at the title link. The programmer writes about his software (translation): "RetroVisor is now available in version 0.9 as open source software. The macOS app, inspired by ShaderGlass for Windows, uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit and Metal shaders to overlay real-time effects such as scanlines or phosphor glow on any application.
A freely movable effect window can be 'docked' to a target window with a double-click. RetroVisor captures the selected screen area, processes it via GPU, and displays it as a precisely aligned overlay.
Development is taking place in two phases: After completion of the core functions (including the CRT-Easymode sample shader), the focus is now on expanding shader support. Contributions from the community are welcome.
Important: macOS permission for screen recording is required for operation." (snx)
