Worth a read: The Meaning of Icons
In his latest blog post on datagubbe.se entitled "The Meaning of Icons", Carl Svensson explores how we interpret icons in graphical user interfaces – and why their meaning is often less obvious than we think.
Using numerous examples – from Amiga programs to modern applications such as Microsoft Outlook – Svensson shows that many icons only become understandable through repeated use and cultural influence.
