Crowdfunding: Chargeable retro community "Amiga Global Alliance
David Pleasance - former Commodore UK management, author of several Commodore books and regular guest at various Amiga events since 2015 - has launched a new project: His "Amiga Global Alliance" ("AGA") is to become a retro community whose members will initially finance a central website and later projects and events with an annual fee of at least 38 GBP (about 44 euros).
Pleasance promises that 65 percent of the income will be reinvested in the community - to promote hardware and software projects or for promotional events. The rest of the money raised will be used for the construction and operation of the planned website and other operating costs. The AGA website is to be the first major project financed by the members and will offer the following areas:
- Open Forum: A space for both group and individual discussions.
- Market Place: A portal to buy and sell new and used items.
- CATS (Commodore Amiga Technical Support): Dedicated technical support for all your Commodore and Amiga needs.
- Calendar: A global events diary keeping you updated on upcoming events.
- Jobs: A platform for freelance services, whether you're offering or seeking, full time or part time.
- Archive/Library: A long-term storage space that's always accessible.
- Goodies: A section filled with treasures donated by fellow AGA subscribers.
- Database/Directory: An extensive list of contacts via URL/email/phone.
The website will be launched if the current Kickstarter campaign raises around 17,500 euros in investments by the end of June. The planned launch date for the website, which can be reached at aga.directory, is August 2023. How the Amiga Global Alliance will subsequently decide on the distribution of incoming funds or the selection of projects to be supported is not explained. (cg)
