USB stack: Poseidon 3.6
Press release:  The just completed new version V3.6 of Poseidon is now available. It includes several enhancements, fixes and supports more mass storage devices, ethernet adapters and the infamous USB Rocket Launcher.

Download it here or use Trident's built-in online update facility.

News in V3.6
  • Mass storage class overhaul. Now supports bigger physical block sizes for automounting of RDB partitions, FAT/NTFS and also CD/DVD drives, also adding a lot of emulation, workaround and new compatibility fixes (also fixes the multi LUN problem reported here multiple times).
  • Several fixes and changes regarding USB 2.0 support.
  • Reworked Prefs Handling, enhanced Trident.
  • Changes, fixes and enhancements in the main library.
  • New class supporting ethernet adapters using ASIX Chipsets.
  • New shell tool for the use of USB Rocket Launchers (no this is no April's fool joke).
  • This release also contains a workaround to the deficiency in Elbox' spider.device that can be activated with the "Compatibility hack" option in Trident.

I really spent a lot of time and effort on this release, polishing a lot of the internals at various places. Mass storage should now work better than ever. The new Asix Ethernet class makes it possible to benefit of 100MBit adapters on USB 2.0 -- as long as the USB board doesn't drain the CPU too much (which unfortunately, is the case with the Spider). But there are things to come.

It should be performing very well on the classic Amigas now. I be will spending the next weeks in making the experience for MorphOS at least equally nice.

Enjoy -- Chris Hodges (cg) (Translation: cg)
