Intel parts with the name "Pentium"
According to TG Daily Intel is slowly going to part completely with the
brand "Pentium" as a name for processors without official statement.
Present Pentium processors will for example be called "Intel D 920" or
"Intel 672" in the future. The complete conversion of the names is
supposed to be done in the near future. Intel was not willing to speak
out on this.
Indeed the separation from an established brand name is chancy, says
analyst Kevin Krewell , but the name Pentium has become obsolete and
partly leads to confusion. Furthermore the single processor is becoming
less and less important in Intel's product range, as the attention will
be increasingly directed on platforms like Centrino. (nba) (Translation: iw)
