Retro computing: CAPS becomes SPS The CAPS team ("Classic Amiga Preservation Society"), working on the archiving of old copy protected games including the copy protection, is renamed into "Software Preservation Society" (SPS). This name change is the result of an expanding of the activities which now include other computer platforms, too. In the past months were technologies developed to be able to archive pratically every copy protected disk format. Because of the less flexible drive controlling on other systems in comparison to the Amiga they are now capable of to archive almost all known disk formats after reworking the internal analysis and conversion programs. For now the^y will concentrate on the archiving of other 3,5 inch formats (MS-DOS, Atari ST) but 5,25 or even 3 inch systems will be supported soon. The main focus lies on the archiving but as for the Amiga there should be emulation libraries available soon to make the use of SPS disk images with known emulators possible.
