Infogrames renamed to Atari
Infogrames is dead - long live Atari! The French company Infogrames that bought all rights of the trademark Atari two years ago changed its name today officially and worldwide to that of the former game and computer giant. Until now Infogrames used the label Atari for publishing or licensing of some games only.
65 percent of the business activities of Atari, respective Infogrames,
are located to the U.S. in the meanwhile. Due to that 60 percent of the staff in Europe has been reduced during the last year. At the stock exchange the company gained some interest during the last weeks because of a gain of their stock price of 130 percent at the Nasdaq since April the 18th 2003, after Atari announced the completion of the game "Enter The Matrix". That game covers the movie "The Matrix Reloaded". It's expected that it might become one of the most successful computer games ever, which would Atari bring back to be one of the "major players" instantly. At the stock exchange Atari is recorded at the abreviation "ATAR".
Enter The Matrix will be available from May the 15th 2003 for PC, Xbox, Gamecube and Playstation2. By the title link Atari's new website is to reach.
