Network from the socket
At this Cebit the company devolo from Aachen
will introduce its new product "devolo MicroLink LAN" (title link) to the market.
With this device it should be possible to realize a DSL network over the mains supply
of the house - without boring holes or pulling cables. "Simply put it in the socket
and connect it with an Ethernet card on the PC."
According to the documentation a bit rate of up to 14Mbit in a circuit of 200 m
is possible. The data transfer is described as safe. The electric meter is supposed to work
as a firewall and a DES encoding with a 56 bit key will be used.
The device has a driver. All operating systems like Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and all TCP/IP
operating systems will work with it. Maybe the Amiga, too...?
