Cloanto: Amiga Forever and C64 Forever 9 "R2"
Press release: November 26, 2021 - Cloanto released today the "R2" (9.2.9.0) update for Amiga Forever 9 and C64 Forever 9.
The "R2"-Build is the result of eight months of work since the previous major release, and takes into account user feedback, new operating system versions and numerous features from our own wish list.
This is a free update for existing version 9 users, who can get the new version through the Help/About dialog in Amiga Forever and C64 Forever, which includes a detailed Changelog. The updated full installation package and ISO image can also be accessed via the original confirmation email or from the Help/My Downloads and Keys menu item, and are set to remain available for 10 years after an order.
New and enhanced features include:
- Improved Setup Wizard
- Arcade mode, tile view and column view enhancements
- Improved handling of game controller, mouse and keyboard devices
- New non-blocking title editor (allows for multiple instances, e.g. to compare the configurations of different titles) and File Explorer preview and editing capabilities
- Improved Amiga RDB disk support
- New LhA archive extraction and WHDLoad import and playback features
- 8-bit systems: improved virtual mouse, screen capture and clipboard text handling
- New input, pixel ratio and scaling factor options
- Support for some of the latest system features introduced in Windows 11 and in Windows 10 versions 21H1 and 21H2
- Continuing best-in-class support for content curation, high-DPI and mixed display environments, real and virtual game controller and keyboard input
- Fixes to known bugs (see the Changelog for additional details)
Amiga Explorer 9.2 is also being released at the same time, with new features including pervasive CRC-32 checks, large disk imaging improvements, drag and drop enhancements, and bug fixes. This is a free upgrade for all Amiga Explorer and Amiga Forever Plus Edition and Premium Edition customers.
As always, we are grateful to the many friends who supported this project and our Amiga passion, vision and hope.

MorphOS: E-mail client Iris 1.0
After about 5 years of development, the first non-beta release of Iris is now available for download. Iris is the most advanced and modern e-mail client available on MorphOS and Amiga. Iris is the only client to support OAuth2 for GMail, Yahoo and Outlook as well as the only client to support full html viewing and editing of e-mails, thanks to the inclusion of a stripped down WebKit. As a side effect, also the operating system itself obtained many innovations, including adding ObjectiveC support and Unicode support into MUI.
On the occasion of releasing version 1.0 of Iris, Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek thanks all the betatesters, translators and users who either donated to the project or sent him bugreports and logs.

Status update and pre-ordering for the game 'Jump'
In mid-July we reported that Polish developer Markus Duda is in the process of converting the game Yoomph, originally written for the Atari, for the Amiga. In it, you have to use a bouncing Amigaball to move around in a three-dimensional tunnel, hitting various (bonus) surfaces along the way. This YouTube video shows the gameplay on the target platform: an Amiga 1200 with 4 MB Fast RAM.

Announcement: Inviyya 2 for Amiga (AGA) and Neo Geo in development
Originally Michael 'Tigerskunk' Borrmann wanted to port his shoot'em up 'Inviyya', which was released in spring for the Amiga, to the Neo Geo console. Amiga Assembly For Beginners: Let's Make an Amiga Game Tutorial
Prince', founder of the former demo group 'Phaze101', streams the assembler programming course "Corso completo di programmazione assembler in due dischi" in English on Twitch and uploads the respective episodes time-shifted to YouTube (amiga-news.de reports regularly).
Among other things stimulated by our inquiry, to what extent the newly acquired knowledge is practically applied by his participants, Prince has now decided to give further assistance and to show the conversion into assembler for the Amiga step by step on the basis of the small C64 game 'Poop's Journey'. The episode 1 has now been uploaded to YouTube.

Hollywood plugin: hURL 1.2 for several data transfer protocols
Press release: Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are back on your screen with a major update of hURL - the ultimate multi-protocol data transfer plugin for Hollywood, which allows Hollywood scripts to transfer data using all kinds of different network protocols including full SSL support.
Version 1.2 is a major update that now supports Hollywood 9's extended network adapter so that Hollywood's DownloadFile() and UploadFile() functions can now handle all protocols supported by hURL instead of just HTTP. This makes it much easier to use hURL because you often don't have to use hURL's lowlevel interface any longer but can just use DownloadFile() or UploadFile().

FPGA: First Playstation1 game for MISTer
In mid-August we reported that Robert 'FPGAzumSpass' Peip had announced a Playstation1 emulation for the MISTer. In mid-October he announced via YouTube video that first games would basically run. Now yesterday via Twitter announced that with RidgeRacer the first PlayStation game is now playable on MiSTer: Some bugs are still present, but encourage testing. Unfortunately, those who do not have a second SDRAM available will have to wait a few more days.
He has documented his efforts in a GitHub project.
