AmigaSYS ist eine komplett vorkonfigurierte, für die Nutzung unter WinUAE gedachte Amiga-Umgebung, die AmigaOS 3.x voraussetzt. Das Update R2 bringt folgende Neuerungen:

AmigaOS 4.0 Prerelease Update #4 erschienen

Leuven, Belgien - 8. Februar 2006
Hyperion Entertainment kündigt die sofortige Verfügbarkeit des vierten AmigaOS 4.0 Developer Prerelease Updates an.
Als neue Features enthält dieses Update:
- Neues Warp3D mit Support für Grafikkarten vom Typ Voodoo 3/4/5 und ATI Radeon-Modelle 7000, 7200, 7500, 9000, 9200 und 9250.
- Petunia Just-In-Time 68k-Emulator
- Komplett neues Intuition mit neuen Features wie flackerfreies Fenster-Redraw und verbessertem Bildschirm-Ziehen (unter anderem kann ein Bildschirm nun frei in jede Richtung gezogen werden, und darunterliegende Bildschirme werden selbst dann sichtbar, wenn seitlich gezogen wurde)
- Neuer ExecSG-Kernel
- Neues erweitertes Eingabe-System, welchen nun Mausräder auf PS/2- und USB-Mäusen unterstützt, sowie "Multimedia"-Tastaturen (mit Lautstärke-Reglern, Pause/Play-Taste etc.)
- ... und mehr. Faktisch alle Komponenten wurden erneuert.

AmigaOS 4: "Rules for Tools" zur Entwicklung/Portierung von BnP-Plugins
Die "Rules for Tools" sind ein Software Development Kit für Entwickler, die Tools oder Accessories für den MIDI-Sequencer BarsnPipes schreiben wollen. Alfred Faust hat das Paket jetzt weitgehende überarbeitet und auf AmigaOS 4 angepasst (Versionen für MorphOS und AmigaOS 3 folgen demnächst).
Das Archiv enthält neben dem neuen, erheblich erweiterten "New Rules for Tools Guide" auch sämtliche benötigten Header-Dateien, Beispiele, Templates und einige Utilities.

AmigaOS 4: Zwei neue Artikel bei intuitionbase.com
Bei intuitionbase.com wurden zwei neue Artikel zu AmigaOS 4 veröffentlicht, die im Zuge des Artikelwettbewerbs eingereicht wurden. Die beiden Gewinner erhalten als Preis eine Vollversion von ANotice, der Sieger Paul E. Bloedel zusätzlich noch AmiPhoto. Die Preise wurden von Alinea zur Verfügung gestellt.

AmigaOS 4: Cranu 0.1 Beta, graphisches Frontend für LhA und Konsorten
Cranu ist praktisch das Gegenstück zu Unarc: Eine graphische Benutzeroberfläche, mit deren Hilfe sich sehr einfach LhA-, LZX-, Zip-, tgz- oder tar.bz2-Archive erstellen lassen. Mittels sogenannter "Profile" lässt sich Cranu auch vom Anwender um Unterstützung für weitere Archiv-Formate erweitern.

Amiga bei Nuklearmedizin der Uni Leipzig (Update)
Die Nuklearmedizin der Uni Leipzig berichtet
hier
über ihre technische Ausstattung für die Patientendiagnostik. Bei zwei Geräten,
der Einkopf-Planar-Kamera mit Schilddrüsenkollimator sowie der Einkopf-SPECT-Kamera
wird dabei ein "ungarisches Amiga-Computersystem" erwähnt. Auf dem Bild der
Einkopf-Planar-Kamera ist im Hintergrund eine Computertastatur zu sehen, die
bei Vergrößerung eindeutig das Layout und Aussehen einer Amiga 4000-Tastatur
besitzt.
Offenbar befinden sich hier also noch Amigas im aktuellen Einsatz!
Vielleicht kann ein Leser oder ein ortsansässiger Leipziger das bestätigen?
Zudem wäre interessant zu wissen, welche ungarische Firma die für die Geräte
nötige Spezialsoftware entwickelt hat.

IBM plant Power6-Prozessoren mit über 5 GHz / Freescale tritt Power.org bei
Bei den Taktraten haben IBMs Power-Prozessoren bisher hinter der Konkurrenz
zurückstehen müssen. Auf der International Solid-State Circuits Conference
(ISSCC) 2006 zeigte IBM nun, dass die noch in Entwicklung befindlichen
Power6-Prozessoren durchaus auch über 5 GHz und höhere Taktraten erreichen
können.

Zudem ist die frühere Motorola-Halbleitersparte Freescale dem Power.org-Konsortium beigetreten, welches es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, die Technologie der POWER-Architektur zur bevorzugten Open-Standard-Plattform für die Hardware-Entwicklung in der Elektronik-Industrie zu machen.
So wollen Freescale und IBM nun unter anderem einen gemeinsamen Befehlssatz schaffen und Linux auf der POWER-Architektur etablieren. Gute Marktchancen sehen beide Firmen vor allem bei Supercomputern und Enterprise-Systemen sowie bei Embedded-Anwendungen im Automobil-, Telekommunikations- und Unterhaltungsbereich.
Auf Power.org wurde vor kurzem auch das Design des Pegasos II veröffentlicht (amiga-news.de berichtete). (ps)

GUI-System: Feelin Version 060207
Olivier Laviale hat eine neue Version seines GUI-Systems Feelin veröffentlicht (Screenshots: 1, 2). Es stehen Versionen für AmigaOS 3 und 4 zur Verfügung, eine MorphOS-Version wird in Kürze folgen. Die wichtigsten Neuerungen:
- SYSTEM: It's now possible to create meta-classes. This feature was already possible since classes are also objects but now it's really working The EXIT end INIT optionnal code is now deprecated, you must create a meta-class to create/delete private data.
- SYSTEM: The memory system has been improved further more and is now even faster. The F_DisposeP() function is now deprecated since, with the new techniques, F_Dispose() finds the right memory chunk to dispose on the first try (less than 1% of missing). The developer can also tweak the memory system to enable memory walls, memory marking, custom patterns to fill new/allocated/disposed memory...
- XML: Entities support has been added and is widely used. The attributes used to generate objects are now typed. XML parsing has been improved furthermore and FC_Document provides nicer methods.
- EVENTS: Windows are no longer handled by the application they belong to, but a new shared object named "WinServer". This server is also an anchor for various inputs such as window events, mouse buttons and movements, key stroke... but also pophelp, timer, wbdrop... it also add special features which are not available with Intuition such as unactivable windows (usefull with menus and popups).
- DAMAGED RENDERING: A new technique called "damaged rendering" is now used to redraw objects. Only objects which aspect as been modified (state, size, position) are now updated saving a lot of unnecessary renderings. I was already using a similar technique but it was costing a lot and was not as effective.
- PREFERENCES, EDITOR: Preferences are now stored in CSS files instead of an IFF ones. FC_Preference is now a subclass of FC_CSSDocument. The whole preference system has been updated and is more compact and nice.
- ASSOCIATED DATA: A new technique called "associated data" is now used to skip decoding over and over the same preference items. To put this short, a window with 1000 buttons was resolving and decoding 1000 times the "$button-frame" item to setup the frame of the SimpleButton objects. Now a "complex data", which is the decoded stuff of the "$button-frame" contents, is associated with the "$button-frame" item. Thus, the preference item is now resolved and decoded once, saving 999 resolving/decoding. This technique is currently used for frames and backgrounds but will soon be extended to fonts, color schemes... The preference system as been widely rewritten for this purpose.
- The "ModulesList" shared object is now used to keep an eye on classes. It handles various lists and is now used to load classes embending a preference group. The launching of the preference editor is now very fast. This shared objects also maintain a list of the decorators available, which is used to create dynamicaly the "Decorators" preference group.
- ALPHA BLENDING: FC_CorePNG has been created to decode PNG files without using datatypes, saving time and embended alpha information, which is fully supported by FC_BitMap. FC_Render also support alpha-blending but is currently limited to rectangles. Thanks to alpha-blending, you can create even nicer applications.
- COLORS AND IMAGES: Colors are now defined as in CSS e.g. "#FF0000" for full red or "shine" for the FV_Pen_Shine entry of a color scheme. All image specifications are now in XML format, many of them have been extended e.g. gradients can be defined using 2, 3 and even 4 colors (aqua style).

Dateisystem: Smart File System 1.252
Das alternative Dateisystem Smart File System liegt für AmigaOS/68k bereits seit Anfang Januar in der Version 1.252 vor. Neben einer Fehlerbereinigung enthält diese zusätzliche Kontrollen, dass keine Dateien erzeugt oder angesprochen werden, die eine Größe von 4 GB minus 2 Bytes überschreiten.
Im Archiv enthalten ist lediglich die Hauptdatei, das letzte vollständige Archiv ist die Version 1.236.

Kontenverwaltung: HomeBank 3.2 beta1
Die neue Beta-Version der Kontenverwaltung HomeBank bereinigt einige kleinere Fehler, beinhaltet einige Änderungen im GUI-Layout und bringt kleinere Erweiterungen mit.
Der Autor arbeitet derzeit an einer Portierung auf Linux/GTK, die Amiga-Version wird jedoch weiterhin aktiv unterstützt und entwickelt.

Für die Zukunft ist zudem die Ausgabe von Quelltext-Vorlagen für C/C++-Strukturen, -Funktionen und -Klassen geplant.

Die im Auftrag der Film- und Softwareindustrie handelnde Gesellschaft zur Verfolgung von Urheberrechtsverletzungen (GVU) soll nach einem Bericht die Raubkopiererszene unterstützt haben. "Uns liegen eindeutige Belege vor, wonach die GVU die Infrastruktur von Raubkopierern finanziell gefördert hat", sagte Holger Bleich, Redakteur des Computermagazins "c't". (ps)
