Retro-Computing: PaperBox zeigt klassische Spiele-Verpackungen an
PaperBox wurde entwickelt, um "historische" Spiele-Verpackungen zu archivieren. Es zeigt in Echtzeit gerenderte, animierte Schachteln auf der Workbench an. Mittels einer einfachen Textdatei kann jeder Anwender selbst entsprechende 3D Modelle anfertigen (Screenshots: 1, 2, 3). PaperBox benötigt StormMESA.

Organische Umrisse: Supershapes 0.07
Supershapes zeichnet organische Umrisse nach der "Superformel" des Biologen Johan Gielis. Supershapes ist das erste Programm dieser Art für den Amiga. Die neue Version kann ihre Daten jetzt auch im Vektorformat EPS speichern.

Das Oberhausener Heimcomputer-Museum von Stefan Walgenbach feiert sein zehnjähriges Bestehen. Damals begonnen mit einem Apple II Europlus als erstem Exponat, zieren seinen Bestand heute neben dem besonderen Augenmerk auf Geräten aus Osteuropa und Japan selbstverständlich auch Amiga-Rechner. (snx)

Strategie-Spiel: Die kleine Gilde II - Bildergalerie überarbeitet
Die Bildergalerie der Echtzeit-Wirtschaftsimulation "Die kleine Gilde II" wurde überarbeitet und um zahlreiche neue Bilder ergänzt. Im Bereich "Sonstige Gebäude" ist außerdem ein Screenshot vom Lagerhaus zu finden. Die Arbeiten an der Funktion "Lagerhaus" sind inzischen abgeschlossen, ein Update wird jedoch erst veröffentlicht, wenn auch das Ausspionieren von Konkurrenten möglich ist.
Momentan fehlt dem Autor Steffen Nitz jedoch die Zeit für eine konstante Weiterentwicklung von DKG II. (cg)

Emulation: WinUAE 1.2
Das WinUAE-Team veröffentlicht Version 1.2 des bekannten Amiga-Emulators für Windows. Änderungen in dieser Version:
- New "lores filter" in GUI, fixes incorrect colors in programs that
use superhires trick (eg. Virtual Karting, demo Rest-2).
- Logitech G15 keyboard LCD support.
- FPU emulation updates and fixes.
- Ability to create 1:1 HDF from Amiga formatted harddisk.
- ProWizard module ripper updated to latest version.
- Display Filter panel updates, added 1x,2x,4x,6x,8x multipliers.
- PNG screenshots.
- Light pen hardware emulated. (but no trigger or cursor emulation yet)
- Manual language selection.

Freescale unterstützt Power.org mit der Efika-Entwicklerplattform
Wie die vormalige Motorola-Halbleitersparte Freescale heute mitteilt, unterstütze man Power.org zusammen mit Genesi durch die mobileGT-basierte Entwicklerplattform Efika. Hiervon erhoffe man sich die Mithilfe beispielsweise der Linux-, OpenSolaris- oder MorphOS-Programmierer bei dem Unterfangen, die PowerPC-Architektur stärker in kommerziellen und industriellen Anwendungsbereichen zu etablieren.

Opportunities for open source developers to design commercial and industrial applications based on MPC5200B microprocessor
AUSTIN, Texas - February 20th, 2006 - Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL, FSL.B) is supporting Power.org with a mobileGT development platform that taps into a large open source development community, helping drive the PowerPC® architecture into more commercial and industrial applications.
A collaborative effort between Freescale and Genesi USA, Inc., a new mobileGT Alliance member, introduces application opportunities based on the Power Architecture™ to members of Genesi's open source developer communities as well as Power.org member developers. The technology bundle combines Freescale's MPC5200B microprocessor based on the Power Architecture™ and Genesi's EFIKA reference platform with integrated open source software stack.
"This is a great opportunity to open vast new industrial and commercial arenas to the PowerPC architecture," said Anand Ramamoorthy, general manager of Freescale's infotainment, multimedia and telematics business. The EFIKA is a high performance, small form factor design that features Genesi's Hardware Abstraction Layer and IEEE 1275 compliant Open Firmware (HAL/OF), which gives designers increased flexibility to reduce product development time, speed time-to-market and extend software development from one application based on the Power Architecture™ to another. The platform encourages developers to leverage the PowerPC architecture for their GNU/Linux, OpenSolaris, MorphOS and other operating systems and applications, providing performance and cost benefits for system designs and designers.
