AmigaOS 4: Warp3D plugin for Playstation emulator FPSE
As the next update of Mathias Roslund's FPSE port will take some more time the author released a Warp3D plugin for the existing version of the Playstation emulator.

The plugin works very well with some games (Colin McRae and Ridge Racer are mentioned as examples), other games are problematic or run even slower.

Linux: ColdFire plans for Debian-m68k
As the computer news site Symlink reported exist plans to port the Debian Linux variant for processors of the 680x0 family to the related successor architecture ColdFire to revive this Linux project.

At the time it's not decided wether a common port for both architectures is indeed possible but for now the barriers seem not to be insuperable. In addition Freescale promised for this project five Coldfire boards for testing purposes. (snx) (Translation: wk)

Linux: Updated AmigaOne-Kernel (2.4.26, 2.6.8-16)
On 8th January the PegXMac-developer Entwickler David Bentham published the updated Linux-Kernel for the AmigaOne.

The adapted 2.4.26er Kernel should now enable DMA for all AmigaOne-boards.

The eleventh version of the Kernel 2.6.8-16 works together with most of the drivers as moduls (z.B. printers, USB) and the SILImage-nodul can be used again, too.

Besides this there is a new 3D-driver (agpgart) but which is only for tests. The author asks for sending back the Log-files (dmesg and /var/log/messages) under the title link.

Furthermore there are still problems to be solved so some Amigas may crash. (snx) (Translation: dr)

AmiBlitz2 added to Blitzbasic-Forum
After an opinion poll in the Blitzbasic forum of the Windows-, Linux- and Mac OS-users a new category for AmiBlitz2 was established today. With this action it is tried to build a bridge between the new Blitzbasic variants and the original.

It is the aim that the exchange between users of all four operating systems should create new impulses and the experience of the Amiga Blitzbasic community should be mixed with new ideas of the newer BlitzPlus-/Blitz3D- and BlitzMax-users. (snx) (Translation: ts)

MorphOS: DigiFilter 2.0
Grzegorz 'Krashan' Kraszewski has released DigiFilter version 2.0 for MorphOS. It is a design tool for digital FIR filters ("finite impulse response".

Different to programs which are limited to typical low pass, high pass, band pass and band stop frequency answers or are encompassing a limited set of frequency points, DigiFilter offers a graphic frequency response editor.

The program uses a window design technique with rectangle, trirangle, "Blackman" and "Kaiser" windows. Thanks to high otimization even very long filter (2048 sample points and more) may be used real ime on G3 computers.

DigiFilter 2.0 requires the media stream library Reggae B by the same author (amiga-news.de reported). (snx) (Translation: ub)

Amiga Future release 58 (Januar/Februar 2006) was published
The following German text reports about the release 58 of the German Amiga-Magazin "Amiga Future". The Amiga Furure are only published in german language.

Grzegorz 'Krashan' Kraszewski notify a new class is now added to Reggae - it is fir.filter used for audio signal filtering. The code is highly optimized, so even very long filters (2048 taps and more) can be performed in realtime even on G3 processor. Some routines are written for AltiVec, but MorphOS 1.4.5 kernel doesn't have AltiVec turned on, so routines can't be used yet (but they are there, tested and waiting for a new kernel).

Update: (18:18, 09.01.06, snx)
The complete packet is now released, Reggae B. Beside the actual classes is the fir.filter included and also a second new class named winicon.demuxer to load Windows Icons. (snx) (Translation: aj)

Development Environment: AmiDevCpp 0.9 "Monster Pack"
The development environment AmiDevCpp is now available in version 0.9. With the IDE, programs can now be produced for following systems:
  • MS Windows (x86)
  • AmigaOS (68k)
  • AmigaOS 4 (PPC)
  • MorphOS (PPC)
  • AROS (x86)
However, AmigaOS 4 developers must additionally obtain an up-to-date SDK, since that is not freely available yet.

For downloading over 100 files, or rather, 90 MB, DSL users should download the Internet setup program (67 KB). Users of a slower Internet connection still have the possibility to download the files individually.

Since the new server does not seem to work correctly yet, it can happen that individual files are not completely downloaded. These files can be found very easily, in that you view the downloaded files sorted by size, and then manually download those that are too small.

On usage: In the Help menu, a "First Steps" tutorial can be found now. The various compilers can be selected in the "Project->Project options->Compiler" menu. The standard compiler is for MS Windows. Keep in mind to change this to "m68k-AmigaOS", particularly in Amiga projects that are already created. (snx) (Translation: cad)

Multimedia Application Layer: Hollywood 2.0 available
Press release:Airsoft Softwair is proud to announce that the biggest update in Hollywood history is now available. Hollywood 2.0 is a massive update with endless new features. The program and its documentation have almost doubled in size. Here is a brief overview of the major new features of Hollywood 2.0 but there are tons more:
  • Programming language: Hollywood has a completely new, state-of-the-art 64-bit script language which is dynamically typed and thus, extremely flexible
  • Sprites: Hollywood now offers a fully featured sprite library that is implemented completely in software. Hence, there are no limitations in sprite size, frames, colors and so on. With sprites, a lot of cool things are possible
  • Music library: The new music library allows playback of MP3 files and Protracker modules. Ptahiplay.library is no longer required!
  • AROS support: Hollywood is now available for the i386 version of the Amiga Research Operating System AROS. On AROS native, Hollywood 2.0 gives a stunning performance on modern PCs. Additionally, AROS support means that you can compile x86 native AROS executables also from MorphOS, AmigaOS 3.x or AmigaOS 4 now
  • Antialias: Antialiasing is now fully implemented for TrueType fonts on all systems. Drawing routines are very fast even on 68k because of highly-optimized code
  • Powerful scheduler: Hollywood's new, powerful scheduler allows you to create exactly timed scripts which run at the same speed on every system
  • Alpha channel support: Hollywood supports graphics with an alpha channel now. Thus, it supports graphics with up to 32-bits per pixel now. Highly optimized drawing routines give excellent results even on 68k systems
  • Clip regions: Hollywood provides powerful clipping functions now that allow you to clip your graphics even to custom shaped regions (like circles, rectangles with round edges and so on)
  • Collision detection: Fast pixel-exact collision detection is now offered. Even alpha channel information is taken into account by the collision detection!
  • New off-screen rendering functions: All graphics calls can be used now to render to brush masks and alpha channels, too. Paves the way for unique special effects!
  • New GUI: The GUI has been completely rewritten and is much more functional now. It has a showcase that lists all the examples that come with Hollywood and also has screenshots and information about them
  • New examples: Hollywood 2.0 comes with over 15 cool new examples that demonstrate the new features. Hollywood has now over 45 examples in total
  • Dramatic speed improvements: The image processing functions are up to 10 times faster now on WarpOS because the PPC is used now for everything! The drawing library is also much faster now
  • Layer improvements: When removing layers, Hollywood will now use special undo effects which work just the other way round. Furthermore, layers can be given names now. This makes it much easier to work with them because the names do not change like the ids! Finally, anim layers are possible now
  • DOS functions: Hollywood 2.0 brings many new DOS functions including a powerful CopyFile() function which can copy whole directories and is customizable through a callback function
  • New button library: A much more flexible button library has superseded the old one. The new button library calls functions instead of labels and has more features!
  • Sample library: The PlaySample() command offers many more options now and can trigger OnSampleEnd and OnSampleLoop events for perfect script timing!
  • Doublebuffer: Hollywood 2.0 has functions for setting up a double buffered display. Double buffer scaling is fully implemented
  • Drawing library: All commands of the draw library can draw alpha-blended graphics now, too. Additionally, there are some new functions like Arc() which draws a partial ellipse, and FloodFill() which fills a bordered region with a color
  • Compiler: The Hollywood compiler has been completely rewritten and is more configurable now. You can embed version strings and more information in your executables. It is also possible to fix the settings of your compiled scripts; for instance, you can create an executable that will only run in full screen mode
  • New fillstyles: All drawing functions can use additional fill styles. Hollywood supports the fill styles 'gradient' and 'texture' now
  • Image export: You can now save your brushes to files and also save snapshots of your script from within Hollywood!
  • Independence: Hollywood does no longer require the guigfx.library, render.library, and ptahiplay.library
  • Full 1.x compatibility: Although the kernel has been completely exchanged, Hollywood 2.0 is fully compatible with the previous versions. All your scripts should run fine with Hollywood 2.0, and Hollywood Designer and Malibu do not need any updates, either
Starting with Hollywood 2.0, the program does no longer work on systems without a graphics board. A hi/true color screenmode is now required.

Hollywood comes on a CD-ROM that contains versions for all supported platforms: There are native versions of the program for AmigaOS 3.x, WarpOS, MorphOS, AmigaOS 4 and for the first time AROS (i386). A download version is also offered. If you order the download version, you will have to download an ISO image which you need to burn on CD-R then. If you already own Hollywood 1.x, you can buy a discounted upgrade version.

Hollywood 2.0 is Airsoft Softwair's definite Multimedia experience (Code name: Vision.1) and was given 10 of 10 points throughout by all of its beta testers. On top of all those features, Hollywood also has a cross-compiler which allows you to save executables for any platform that Hollywood supports.

For example, AROS users can save AmigaOS 4 executables with Hollywood. Or MorphOS users can save WarpOS executables and so on. Hollywood is the ultimate bridge between all those different AmigaOS compatible platforms! With Hollywood, you can support them all. If you want to learn more about Hollywood, please visit the Hollywood product information which also contains a full feature list of Hollywood. (snx)

Marcel 'Frostwork' Unbehaun has compiled an AmigaOS and CD32 loader, by means of which the Pegasos II can boot into the respective Amiga environment. By default, an inserted CD32 CD is booted directly.

The Amiga emulation is based on E-UAE and requires appropriate Kickstart files (from the CD32 by default). In addition, you need a Torrent client in order to download. You can obtain details on the range of functions and the installation under the title link. (snx) (Translation: cad)

AROS: AfA 3.91.1
AROS for AmigaOS (AfA), a project for enhancing the AmigaOS 3.x by porting back newer AROS- functions, was updated to version 3.91.1.

Changes:
  • Bug fixes:
    • exec.library: obtainsemaphorelist now works also when the same task already locked the semaphore (fixed in AROS, too)
    • diskfont.library: crash because of buffer overflow with some colour fonts (fixed by Georg Steger; fixed in AROS, too)
  • New:
    • stack increased for every program to avoid a buffer overflow when using many additional patches; this feature is implemented in the file afa_system_lib.exe and works without the exec.library
    • Stack size of 4500 bytes as standard (AmigaOS: 4000); when a program itself demkands additional stack does AfA increase it by 260 Byte
    • AfA logo integrated into the AfA preferences; the logo was made by FishX and is available in to sizes in the directory "logo"
Here now some notes for developers:

When a program is developed on AfA it could crash running on AmigaOS because of the lower standard stack size. Therefore , this should be increased by default.

For developers being interested in a graphical skins system for AROS and therefore in AfA created Georg Steger a frameI class as an example that is available in the Intuition directory of AfA and that can be started via double clicking as often as it is wanted.

The intuition.library of AROS in AfA is now that far that all related elements are used by AROS. The source code is uptodate - but there's no binary file as it looks exactly as the one for AmigaOS. (snx) (Translation: wk)

amigaone.de: new portal for AmigaOS 4.0 interested
Since some weeks now, there's a new homepage online that is mainly offering news about AmigaOS 4 and its hardware. In addition there'S a forum for help, tips&tricks and much more as well as a links collection containing companies and projects that are actively developing in the Amiga area.

We don't want to be a competition with current news sites like AmigaFuture, AmigaWorld or AmigaNews, we just want to offer a second contact point for AmigaOS 4 users. We are are not interested in making money with the homepage, either.

We are conscoius that the homepage isn't looking quite well using current Amiga browsers but questioning the current acive users of our site showed that the majority doesn't see a rework as a necessity. Constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement are very welcome ;-)

  • increased sound buffer size to 4096 as recomended by toaks
  • found a few more instances of $ENV{HOME} replaced them with /bubbles
  • added a timidity config to stop SDL from looking for it in /usr/local/lib. I suspect though that it's not actually used.

AROS: GTK-MUI wrapper included in the Nightly Builds
After all functions required by the Team AROS bounty #30 being implemented by Oliver 'o1i' Brunner into a GTK-MUI wrapper and the current version being judged by the developers to be stable enough that all GTK examples in the CVS do work, Jack Patton has imported a snapshot of the source code into the contrib-sources of AROS. Thus the GTK-MUI wrapper is included in the Nightly Builds of AROS from now on.

The further plans for the (near) future are the integration of as many GLib functions as possible and, as far as this can be achieved, the usage of the original header files. For MorphOS, Ilkka 'itix' Lehtoranta is also turning the wrapper into a dynamic library (gtkmuippc.library). (snx)

The end of VirusExecutor
Jan Erik Olausen has proclaimed the end of VirusExecutor, so there will be no more updates for the anti-virus-software released for Classic AmigaOS. This was announced by the Virus Help Team, which thanked the Dane for his commitment in the past years.

Olausen was among other things also jointly responsible for xvs.library. With the help of this library virus definitions can be edited in external software. This is why the VirusExecutor also will stay up to date and can be used in the future as well. Xvs.library will definitely not be affected by the stopping of VirusExecutor. (nba) (Translation: iw)

Editor's Thoughts and Introduction:
Congratulations to the Amiga community - we have survived another
year! While it has been a busy and fulfilling year in many ways, we
still have no final release of Amiga OS 4.0 to celebrate. However,
there has been some interesting information regarding that topic which
came to light recently.
On December 28, an IRC session was conducted with representatives of
Hyperion by the good folks at AmigaWorld.net. This information
provided by Hyperion and taken from one of the session transcripts
should be of interest to all Amigans eager for a full release version
of OS4:

"Rogue: As you have probably already guessed, there will be no OS 4
release this year. There are reasons for that which I would like to
explain. The main reason is the unavailability of hardware. As you all
know, AmigaOne's [sic] are not available right now, so we are not in a
position to offer an OS 4 with a matching hardware. We DO think that
once we release AmigaOS4.0, there will be a general interest in the
news, in media, etc. We will get a lot of interest from people outside
the amiga market, and they will ask where they can buy it. If we tell
them they cannot buy it right now and need to wait until the hardware
is available, then this will take away a lot of momentum that the
release will generate. Hence we decided to postpone the release until
such time as a hardware platform IS available."

You can read the entire set of transcripts at www.amigaworld.net.
Let's hope the situation with hardware availability can be set right
soon. What a great event for the new year it would be if we could see
the release, finally, of OS4!
Happy New Year to all our readers where ever you are, and good Amiga
computing to you as well!

 Editor

 20 December, 2005

The best news at the beginning: E3B and individual Computers continue
selling hardware in the EU. We want to thank everyone who sent us
eMails with suggestions, mostly trying to circumvent the new law, but
also with information on how to start a company in another country.
Unfortunately, all this doesn't help, because the law also applies to
companies outside Germany who want to sell their products in Germany.

To fully comply with the law, E3B and individual Computers founded the
label "ConBridge" which is now registered with the Stiftung EAR,
despite legal problems that are not fully resolved. Read more on the
common webseite www.conbridge.de (German language only).

New advertising partner

We have supported the "Amiga plus" magazine for a long time with our
adverts. Since the Amiga plus is not available any more, we have been
looking for a new magazine with the same high quality of articles.
What we found is the Austrian magazine Lotek 64: It's made by
enthusiastic hobbyists, and stands any comparison with high-standard
professional journals. You can either read the magazine online for
free, or you can make a donation and have the mag sent to you in
printed form. The magazine is in German language only.

For the current december-issue we want to point out an article by
Dr. Rainer Buchty, which deals with the technology of the C64-DTV2.
The Commodore 64 in a joystick is also known as "PAL-DTV", and is
derived from the C-One. However, individual Computers was not involved
in the DTV project, so our high production standards were not applied.
The article describes how you can correct the low (nearly unreadable)
colour contrast with a little skill and a soldering iron.

Instead of the old 640x480, the program can now run in 1024x768 in 16,
24 or 32 bit.

Rewriting took over three months and we hit the boundaries of the
different Amiga models several times. Bugs in the graphics drivers,
lacking performance and missing features like actual double-buffering,
just to mention a few.

But now it is done, and we are proud to present this pearl to a wider
audience. As always, we release these new features on the Amiga first.

The whole ToT team wishes you a Happy New Year. May the Amiga stay
with us for years to come, in one form or another.

About the project:

We are looking for 30 active beta testers to test the new features on
different Amiga systems. Testers play for free and only need to bring
enough time and motivation to find and report bugs.

In order to continue to the next step, the actual 3D map, the new and
updated client needs to be thoroughly tested to find and fix as many
bugs as possible. We depend on the help of the community for this.
Let's build a solid foundation for the ongoing development of the
client for the Amiga!

The features:

- 640*480/8bit and 1024*768/16/24/32 bit support
- OS4 support
- MOS support
- Amithlon support
- UAE support
- PPC support
- CD, Paula & AHI support
- animated weapons, armor, goods and buildings in 8/16/24/32 bit

- more than 30 screens
- massively multiplayer strategy via email or TCP/IP
- multiple language support
- multi platform (Amiga, PC, Mac, Linux, Browser, Java)

- 8 minute animated intro

Here are the new screenshots:

*Today we release the new APC&TCP-Game Desert Racing.

A Demo version (over 200 MB) from the game found you on the next
CoverCD (58) from the Amiga Future and on the Info/Update/Demo CD from
APC&TCP.

With Desert Racing of Bardos we'll show you a racing game that you
have never seen on the Amiga before. Use different components for your
car depending on your money, drive through amazing animated landscapes
and bring your AGA Amiga to boil. In the single or multiplayer modes
you'll not only have the possibilty of tuning the performance but also
other things...

We take the meaning of tuning very strict because the you will need
the different weapon systems to succeed in the dirty desert races.

To get into the pleasure of Desert Racing of Bardos your Amiga has to
be equipped with an AGA chipset or a graphicsboard. A 68030/25 is
minimum. 1,5MB ChipRAM and 28MB FastRAM are the requirements but more
is always better.

Get Desert Racing of Bardos and experience an exiting arcade racing
game without getting envious of the PC world....

System requirements:

Minimum: Amiga with AGA or graphicsboard, 68030 CPU, 2MB of ChipRAM
and 32MB of FastRAM, harddrive, CD-ROM drive A better CPU is
recommended.

AmiKit is the compilation of the best Amiga (free/shareware) programs
around. To be brief, AmiKit is all you need if you want to experience
a high-end Classic Amiga system. It contains many expansions and
add-ons (more than 20.000 files are included in AmiKit!) that turn the
default AmigaOS installation into a completely renewed and fresh
environment. This pre-configured package is designed for immediate
use. Moreover, it contains an exciting surprise for the whole Amiga
community, see the features!

used as a Workbench replacement!!! This commercial software has never
been freely released to the public before. If you do not know anything
about this excellent piece of software, you should check it out NOW!
You're going to love it. Here are few words from Andreas Loong
(GuruMeditation <http://www.gurumeditation.se>), who has kindly given
permission to use DOpus Magellan II in the AmiKit project: "We
acquired the full rights to Dopus Magellan late 2004. We've agreed to
include the trial version on this distribution to let people have a go
and tinker with it as much as they like. We're closing in on a new
release, updated with various features that will come towards the end
of 2005. If you find the version here worth your time, I hope you will
check out the version we're making for AmigaOS 4!"

Next exclusive features of AmiKit:

      files in an easy way!
    *
*Internet browsing, mailing, chatting and downloading* using
various programs like AWeb, IBrowse, YAM, SimpleMail, AmIRC,
      AmiTradeCenter, AmiGift
    *
*Reading PDF, M$, RTF* and other document formats with the help
      of APDF, EvenMore, Antiword

      SymphoniePlayer, LAME, TheMPegEncGUI, SampleEditor

help of PicShow, Thumb, MysticView, FroggerNG, PerfectPaint Or
enjoy the fractal world through ZoneXplorer!
    *
*Easy handling of archives.* They are opened like every other
drawer. Or some external programs could be used instead
      (VooDoo-X, MUIUnArc, XPKatana)
    *
*Massive FTP support* through OpusFTP module. It has a full GUI
for the Address Book and operational parameters.
    *
*Software for burning and copying the CDs* (MakeCD), for
      mounting virtual CDs (VirtualCD).
    *
You can make your AmiKit password protected. Just don't forget
      your password ;-)
    *
*Pre-configured recognition and processing of many file formats*
      (through the DOpus filetypes)
    *
*Various system tools* like SysInspector, SnoopDos, Q-Device,
      ShowPatches
    *
*Antivirus software* effectively checks the system files, memory
      and archives for viruses.
    *
*Emulation software* like ASp for retro ZX gaming
    *
*Great taskbar software:* AmiStart (for those who do not like
the taskbars on Amiga, simply remove AmiStart from WBStartup.
      Easy!)
    *
Most advanced Amiga recycle bin software: GlobalTrash
    *
*Visual enchancers and system enchancers* like VisualPrefs,
      Birdie, TitleShadow, BoingBall, MagicMenu, MCP
    *
*Warp3D compatibility* thanks to QuarkTex software
    *
Adjust PC keyboard to your Amiga needs with the help of
      MMKeyboard software solution!
    *
Yes, some games are included as well ;-)

Hardware:

    *
A PC computer, a rather fast one. At least 256MB of RAM is
recommended (otherwise decrease the RAM size in WinUAE config). AmiKit
was created on AthlonXP 2500+ where the boot process of AmiKit takes
about 12 seconds (or 10 seconds more with unregistered Directory Opus
Magellan II, see limitations). I've also tried an AthlonXP 1800 and
the speed of AmiKit was still acceptable.
    *
Gfx card capable of displaying 32bit screenmodes.

PC software:

    *
WinUAE, the Windows port of the UAE Amiga Emulator. Version
1.1.1 is already included in AmiKit package, however if a newer
version is found in your system, AmiKit will automatically use it.

Amiga software:

    *
The source of AmigaOS3.x system files. AmiKit installation
archive DOES NOT contain any copyrighted Amiga system files because
AmigaOS3.x is still available (fortunately!). These system files will
be copied from the original CD to AmiKit during the installation
procedure. Come on, support the Amiga and buy the CD, if you haven't
done so yet!
    *
AmigaOS ROM file (v3.1). You can obtain this from your real
Amiga with the help of ROM ripper/grabber software (see Aminet).
Another possibility is to buy the Amiga Forever package which includes
the ROM file.

Video podcasts come to the Amiga with AmiPodder 1.4! With the release
of iTunes 6 and the new iPod video many podcasters are including video
clips in their podcast feeds. AmiPodder now recognises video episodes
and can play them back in the video player of your choice (MPlayer and
Frogger have been tested, not all video podcasts will play on Amiga
players due to the codecs used). If you have a portable device capable
of playing video, AmiPodder can sync the movies to it too.

Also in version 1.4 are a number of improvements and bug fixes
including:

* Option to prompt for the sync directory making it easier to use
AmiPodder with multiple portable players or players using removeable
media cards.

* New status of "Played", so if you use AmiPodder as a "jukebox" you
can see what podcasts you've already listened to.

* File name length limitation, handy if your Amiga filesystem or music
player only accepts short filenames.

* Many more changes.

AmiPodder 1.4 is freeware and runs on OS 3.x, OS 4 and MorphOS.

most varied resources through the POP3 protocol.
Mainly, it can be used to download mail from the most famous webmails,
but it could also be used as an aggregator for RSS feeds and much
more. This way it is possible to get all your messages in your
favorite email client.

----
Look at site's manual. The program is simple to configure.

just run it (or add it to user-startup). It will bind on port 2000.
On the email client configure your account to use port 2000 and as
server localhost (or 127.0.0.1).

PLEASE READ MANUAL TO CONFIGURE YOUR MAIL ACCOUNT (and if it is
available)

GFX drivers: CyberGraphX 4.3 RC 6
An update for the graphics card driver system CyberGraphX has been released. Version 4.3 RC 6 allows CyberGraphX 4 owners to use the graphics cards CyberVision 3D, CyberVision 64 and Picasso IV with MorphOS on dual boot setups.

Above cards have been successfully tested under PowerUp MorphOS 1.4.5 on an Amiga 4000T with a CyberstormPPC processor board, other drivers might work as well.

Please note that MorphOS 1.4.5 contains a faulty hal.com1 file which does not map CyberVision 3D cards properly in ZorroIII mode. People who like to use this card with MorphOS should replace this file in the "roms" directory by its newer version. This file only needs to be replaced if you own a CyberVision 3D and use PowerUp MorphOS 1.4.5.

MorphOS: PowerTerm.mcc 50.60
Straight from the South Pole, Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek sends an update for the MUI class PowerTerm.mcc for MUICON/SSHCON.

The archive is available under the title link. Moreover, the author announces versions of PowerTerm as well as, subsequently, of MUICON, for Mac OS X also.

Changes since the previous release (50.55):
  • 50.56: Huge changes in the class' structure. Adapted large parts of the terminal emulation to work on Mac OS X. Tweaked to use libmosutil (os-independant tags/pools support lib)
  • 50.57: Added ESC[Z, ESC[I, fixed the table stops generator, reworked vt_nexttabstop to move the cursor and handle forward wrap, implemented vt_prevtabstop. More work on the ATSUI rendering engine for OSX. Implemented vta_renderline, vta_renderlinepart, vta_refresh, vta_render
  • 50.58: Fixed tabs (tab forward should not wrap!), impelemented scroll left/right escape sequences (ESC[ P, ESC[ @), fixed vt_getesccode not to get confused by the @ code
  • 50.59: Added an OSX PowerTermScroll class, the OSX port can handle a NSScroller object now. A lot of work in the ATSUI renderer, enabled font matching to allow all possible unicode characters, write method, some work on delayed refreshing. More rendering code - added marking display, finished most of the render sections
  • 50.60: OSX vt_scrollto, vt_postwrite and companions, Cocoa PTerm begins to get functional

Beta testers for Tales of Tamar needed (version 0.54)
The developers of the round based massively multiplayer PBEM game Tales of Tamar are looking for beta testers for v0.54 of the game. Screenshots of the current version can be found in the ToT forum.

The ToT team wrote: The first step to the planned 3D map is done! Tales of Tamar now runs in a higher resolution and makes the project shine in a new brightness due to the new GUI and the revised handling. Instead of the used resolution of640*480 pixels it is now posible to play the project in a resolution of 1024*768 pixels in 16, 24 or 32 bit.

The rewriting of the engine took full three months and we hit several times the performance maximum of the different Amigas. Bugs in the graphics cards software, power bottlenecks and non-existing important features like e.g.real double buffering are only some of the problems we had to deal with.

But mnow it is done and we are proud to be able to make this software pearl available to the Amiga community. And as it has always been in the past it is the Amiga community being the first to get this feature offered.

So the complete ToT team wishes you a happy new year. May the Amiga be with us for some more years. Well, in some way.

As for the beta test:

To test the current features we need 30 active beta testers to test and play Tales of Tamar on different Amiga systems. Beta testers test our project for free and they should just bring enough motivation with them to report bugs to us.

To go about the next step, namely the 3D map, we need at least 30 testers on different Amiga systems. Ere the implementation of the 3D map can be started as many bugs as possible have to be found, reported and fixed in the current new implemented game client with the bigger map. This can only be done with the community's help. Let's create together a fundament for the further development of the game client on the amiga platform!

The features:
  • 640*480/8 Bit and 1024*768/16/24/32 bit support
  • AmigaOS 4 support
  • MorphOS support
  • Amithlon support
  • UAE support
  • PowerPC support
  • CD, Paula & AHI support
  • Animated weapons, armours, goods a buildings in 8/16/24/32 bit
  • Figure animationen in 8/16/24/32 bit
  • More than 30 different screens
  • Massively multiplayer strategy game via email or TCP/IP
  • Support for different languages
  • Cross platform gaming possible (Amiga, PC, Mac, Linux, Browser, Java)
  • Online chat
  • 8 minutes intro
Greetings
Your ToT team
