MorphOS: PowerSDL 14.0
Ilkka Lehtoranta has published an update of his SDL-port for MorphOS. Users of version 1.x of the operating system require the update package published in January with MorphOS-2.x-functions.
Changes in version 14.0:
- Fixed various performance problems with rendering functions
- New CGX accelerated render calls
- powersdl.library updated to version 14.0 (added missing SDL_REFromConstMem call)
- powersdl_gfx updated to version 11.0 (sdl_gfx 2.0.18)
- powersdl_image.library updated to version 9.5

Desktop: Scalos 41.6
After one and a half year the developers of Scalos have published with version 41.6 an update for the Workbench replacement for AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS.
There are thumbnails for most of the video formats, transparent windows under AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS as well as support of files with more than 4 GB under MorphOS.
Additionally an updated developer package was published as well as catalog files and the source codes of the video preview plugin.

OnyxSoft: CodeAudio 3.0 / Homepage reworked
On the occasion of the 14th anniversary the OnyxSoft-Team reworked its homepage. Additionally the user-interface CodeAudio - formerly known as TheMPegEncGUI - was published in version 3.0.
Changes:
- An MP3 encoding Wizard has been added which makes it easier than ever before to make high quality MP3 files in no time
- Added support for Flac, the free lossless audio codec
- Updated locale catalogs for German, Italian, Spanish
- Works on MorphOS with MUI 4
- Restructured every encoder GUI that had more than one page and turned them into virtual groups
- Made it possible to drop directories on the list window and the Wizard
- Updated to the latest Lame executables for all systems on the auto-update server
- AutoUpdate should work in E-UAE/Linux now
- Should not try to locate the CD drive at startup everytime now. Also enhanced the CD detection code a lot so it works on MorphOS and WinUAE

The latest version of the text viewer EvenMore includes the following changes:
- Fixed a bug which meant only files up to 65536 lines could be displayed. File loading should also be faster now
- Plugin code on opening file had broken the loading of XPK files
- Fixed bug which caused the plugin preferences not to be saved if you used the gadget to open the preference window.
- Fixed bug which caused a file handle to be freed twice if reading failed.
- Added "Launch exe" option to the Generic Prefs plugin. Enabling this option will allow the updated Generic2Text plugin to launch an executable file from EvenMore if the user tries to load it.
- Dir2Text plugin will no longer try to sort an empty directory.
- Added a / in the Dir2Text directory listing to allow you to move to the parent directory.

AmigaOS 4: Protrekkr 1.98d
Protrekkr (formerly sold as "NoiseTrekker") is a SDL-based music program which combines a software synthesiser with a traditional, sample-based tracker (screenshot). The AmigaOS 4-port was created by Fredrik Wikstrom.
The AmigaOS-version of Protrekkr uses the latest, dynamically linked version of the SDL-library which works under AmigaOS 4.1. A statically linked version, which also works under OS 4.0, the author provides on his website (protrekkr-static.lha, 488 KB).
It is recommended to use the program in "Fullscreen"-modus.

Cross-Compiler: AmiDevCpp 0.9.8
AmiDevCpp is an integrated Cross-Platform developing environment for Windows with which C/C++-applications can be developed for AmigaOS (m68k), AmigaOS 4 (PPC), MorphOS(PPC) and AROS (x86, x86-64, PPC).

Press release: The Amiga Future issue 77 (March/April 2009) has been released today. This means that all preorders and subscriptions shipped today. In this issue you'll find a short review of SAM440ep-flex. Furthermore there is a review of the recently released AmigaOS 4 SDK and MorphOS 2.2. Of course reviews like Evenmore, Robbo, Warpview and others aren't missing either.

vlink is a portable Linker which gets along with many binary formats. Changes in version 0.12b:
- (ados/ehf) LoadSeg<=V40 doesn't allow more than 31 longwords per symbol in HUNK_SYMBOL and will respond with "bad loadfile hunk" otherwise. So we just cut everything after 124 characters.

Emulation: Bugfix for Portable AmigaSYS Live '09
The "Live"-version of the AmigaOS-distribution AmigaSYS installs a complete AmigaOS-based working environment on a bootable USB-stick. The operating system Slax which is a Linux-distribution boots the system and then with E-UAE the AmigaOS is started.
The first version had still some bugs so an update with the following improvements was published:
- Linux: New EUAE, old not supported ALSA, sound error

AROS: MPlayer 1.0-v2
Krzysztof "Deadwood" Smiechowicz has published an update of his port of the movie player MPlayer. MPlayer-AROS is based on Fabian Coeurjoly's MorphOS-port. A current version of AROS (24.02.2009 or newer) is required. Changes in MPlayer 1.0-v2:
- updated to MorphOS sources 2009.02.02
- updated to MPlayer sources 2009.02.25
- enabled support for DVD (free and encrypted)
- created DVD navigation menu
- enabled playlist
- enabled support for network streams
- validated working with many multimedia formats (mp3, mpeg, avi, mov, wmv)
- improved stability

Hollywood 4: VideoUp available
On the homepage of Airsoft Softwair you can read a official press release which announced the publishing of Hollywood 4: VideoUp. This is a major update which brings along many new features and general improvements over Hollywood 3. The biggest new feature is that Hollywood can now export AVI videos.

Music with Amiga: Blue Metal Rose - "Spreading the seed"
"Spreading the seed" which is the debut album by Blue Metal Rose was made with the help of an Amiga 4000. For the drum sequences and the manipulation of Synth-Sounds the Octamed Soundstudio was used.

Catalog compiler: SimpleCat 3.16
Guido Mersmann wrote: SimpleCat is a program for creating and managing localization files (screenshot). It is not a new program but it exists since the publishing of AmigaOS 2.1 and the Locale-System - though for 16 years.
Version 1 was still completely written in assembler while version 2 was completely new written with a lot of improvements. With version 3 the complex internal concept was lifted to a new level and has got a MUI user-interface. Since version 3 SimpleCat is also part of the developing environment CubicIDE.
SimpleCat is useful for users who want to fix bugs in the catalogs or want to make a translation as well as for developers who want to edit all catalogs of a project. Convenient import and export functions are available which can be used with the Shell (e.g. makefile) or the GUI.
By deviding the developer form the translation modus the simple translator gets those possibilities which are necessary for his work. With a search function it is possible to find certain texts.
There is a big advantage for developers. All catalog files can be managed in one file. If an entry should be deleted then the developer does not have to edit every single catalog file but can delete the corresponding text from the catalogscript-file (.cs). This applies as well for adding or changing labels. There is also the localization wizard which almost automatically locates a source code and then creates fitting localization entries.
With version 3.16 the GUI-part of SimpleCat now left the beta status because all functions were completely implemented and tested. An AmigaOS 4-version does not work and because I cannot test it I decided to leave out this version. Perhaps anybody can make available a version of OS 4 for the Pegasos2. This could be of use for the others projects.

AmigaOS 4: Directory Opus 4.18.22
Joachim "Zerohero" Birging has published the first version of the well-known file manager Directory Opus which supports the 64-bit-file accesses and therefore gets along with files bigger than four gigabytes.

Audio-Player: AmigaAMP 2.20
Thomas Wenzel has published an update of his audio player AmigaAMP. In version 2.20 the support of M3U-playlists was improved and the recognition of the used bitrate was reworked. Additionally mouse wheel Ereignisse incidents under AmigaOS 4 are now recognized and the compatibility of the Gadtools-GUI with the mentioned opearting system was improved.

Demo-Party: Breakpoint will take place
In January the organizers of the "Breakpoint" - according to them the biggest only demo scene event of the world Welt - have asked for financial support: Several main sponsors had canceled its support for the party.
Already a few weeks later the organizers can be relieved: New sponsors were found and during few weeks more than 15.000 Euro bounties were donated.
The Breakpoint 2009 will take place on from 10th to 13th April in Bingen on the Rhine.

AROS complete system: iMica one
Steve "Cluster UK" Jones who was the manager of several well-known former Amiga companies like Checkmate Digital (A 1500), HiQ and Siamese Systems is getting involved in Amiga again and offers a complete system for AROS in his webshop.
The computer is called "iMica one" and contains an Intel atom-based motherboard in mini-ITX-format (17x17 cm) and is delivered with the native version of the AROS-distribution VmwAROS. The system is supposed to cost 250 British Pound. For an additional charge the Amiga emulator Amiga-Forever will be delivered as well.
The features of the iMica one:
