Linux: SuSE 10.0 in final version published
The Linux-distribution SuSE 10.0 has been published in the final version. Additional to the x86- and x86-64-version there is also version for the PowerPC-architecture which also works on the Pegasos II (SuSE-list of the supported PPC-systems).

Besides the official English boot-guide for the Pegasos on OpenSuSE.org there is also a German installation help written by Christoph Kimna (amiga-news.de reported). (snx) (Translation: dr)

AmiNetRadio V4 published
Version 4 of the MP3- and Shoutcast play program AmiNetRadio is now available.

Additional to some bug fixes the play list editor has been extended and now synchronizes the lists with thr actually available files or automatically creates lists of the most often played songs. With GharArg there is now a new graphical user-interface for those users who wants to have all things collected in one single window. (snx) (Translation: dr)

MorphOS: Certain SDL-/Linux-adaptions from "itix"
Ilkka "itix" Lehtoranta has ported a bunch of games for Morphos:
  • Netpanzer (net tank), an online multiplayer game, based on tactics and fast action (Screenshots)
  • AlephOne, a 3D shooter like the Mac classic Marathon 2 (Screenshot)
  • ImageMagick, a number of CLI based programs for manipulation and conversion of pictures
  • Flite, a small speech synthesizer
  • Blobtrix, a two player Tetris clone (network/ internet connection required)
  • Rocks 'n' Diamonds, a Boulder Dash clone

Aminet: Web interface configurea, fade out option selected platforms
The Aminet webinterface is now configureable to everyone personal taste: At the "Setup" section of the webseite one may define now which platforms should be factored in (AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS etc.).

The default configuration shows files for all systems, those interested in a special platform only may configure their profile to their demand now.

The configuration entry is valid for the entire interface (list of recent uploads, search function, list of selected directories). The chosen selection is stored with a cookie. (cg) (Translation: ub)

Amiga emulator: Amiga Forever 2005 available
The emulator package Amiga Forever by Cloanto is now available in version 2005. Followed the recet numbering this would have been V7.0.

Amiga Forever 2005 is available in three different editions:
  • Online edition: Downloadable installation program for Windows computers
  • Plus edition: Downloadable CD image, which contains additional software, which is either for Windows or platform independent
  • Premium-Edition: Physical product, consisting of a DVD case with the Plus edition CD as well as two DVDs
Main features of Amiga Forever 2005:
  • Emulation of the Amiga hardware
  • Original ROM and operating system files of the Amiga (all versions from 1.0 to 3.X)
  • Additional emulation and driver (e.g. RTG, SCSI, TCP/IP, AHI as well as CDTV and CD³²)
  • preconfigured settings for the emulators WinUAE and WinFellow with automatic updates using the Software Director
  • Preinstalled games, demos and applications (e.g. Web browser and paint program)
  • Support for thousands downloadable games, demos and applications
  • File transfer using the program Amiga Explorer or via the directory Amiga Files
  • Optional bootable CD for x86 pcs based on KX Light
  • Plus and Premium edition: Gallery with pictures of historical interest
  • Premium edition: more than five hours of historic video material regarding the Amiga on DVD
The Amiga Forever 2005 Premium edition news include:
  • One CD and two DVDs in a DVD box (glass mastered)
  • New video: "Inside Commodore" (Interview tour through Commodore, created for the Amiga DevCon 1988)
  • New video: "History of the Amiga" (by IDG/Amiga World)
  • New video: Dave Haynie interview
  • All hitherto included videos - either in original quality and format or improved (no more MPEG4 or WMV9 files)
  • Gallery with more than 1000 photos from Amiga events
  • DVD features like menus, Scene browser, subtitles and more
  • New Amiga Forever software (new starter, new add ons, new installer, etc.)
  • New WinUAE version 1.0, "Amiga Files" directory and XML based game and demo descriptions
  • New games, simplified addition of further games, new category for demos
  • New functions developed and tested for the latest beta version of Windows Vista
