Playable prototype: "What Is the Deadband"
In "What is the Deadband" (video), you play a boy who has mutated into a "luminous energy creature" as he floats through sinister laboratories and tries to figure out what happened to him.

The developer describes the current version as a "playable prototype." It includes two levels, and the purpose of the release is to gather feedback from players: In which direction should the game evolve, and which mechanics, enemies, or environmental ideas fit the chosen setting? The target platform for the finished game is an Amiga with one megabyte of chip RAM and Kickstart 2. (cg)

Amiga emulator written in Rust: Copperline 0.5.0 (update)
"Copperline" is an Amiga emulator written in Rust. Originally developed with the sole purpose of running or testing DiagROM, the program can now also handle complex and timing-critical software.

It emulates OCS, ECS, and AGA; the 68000 through 68040 processors; Gayle IDE and the A2091 SCSI controller. There are preconfigured profiles for the A500, A1200, CDTV, and CD32. The emulator is developed for macOS, untested Windows and Linux builds are also available.

Update: (22.06.26, 06:18, dr)

Version 0.5.0 is a compatibility-focused release with a broad pass over OCS/ECS and AGA display timing, sprite replay, HAM rendering, floppy image handling, and live-audio pacing. It also includes improved directory scans by filtering UAE metadata files. (cg)

Amiga Unix: Linux based cross-compiler setup for AMIX, AmigaNet update
With gcc-cross-amix, there is now a Linux-based toolchain that allows you to compile programs for Amiga Unix using GCC. GCC 2.7.2 is used as the compiler; proprietary Unix files such as headers or libraries must be copied over from an AMIX installation.

The AMIX driver for "AmigaNet" network cards, which was released in May but had not yet been tested at that time, has since been tested on actual hardware and now also enables Internet access.

Detailed documentation for both end users and interested developers can be found at grimoire-amix. Other active projects related to AMIX:
  • va2000-amix: an AMIX driver for the VA2000 graphics card
  • Xrtg-amix: a port of X11R5, that is build on the VA2000 driver and bypasses the Amiga chipset.
  • lszorro-amix: lists Zorro expansion boards, in the style of lspci/lsusb.
A Discord channel has been set up for discussions about AMIX. (cg)
