PowerPC Emulator: PearPC Boots MacOS X "PearPC" is another PowerPC emulator in development, one that emulates a complete PPC platform and, according to the website, "runs most PowerPC operating systems." PearPC exists in an interpretative CPU emulation version that's about 500 times slower than the host computer, as well as in a JIT-Version that's 40 times slower. As these screenshots on the emulator website show, Linux as well as MacOS X are running already on the emulator. (cg) (Translation: dm) [News message: 20. 20.May.2004 whoosh (ANF) |
Cross-Compiler: gcc 3.3.1 for AmigaOS 3 creates AROS-Binaries "whoosh" combined the sources of gcc-3.3.1-aros and gcc-3.3.3-amigaos to create a gcc version that runs under AmigaOS 3 and compiles binaries for AROS-x86. He also ported binutils-2.14. The compiler requires a working GeekGadgets environment and the linker libraries and includes from www.aros.org/download.php. It is used like this: i686-pc-aros-gcc-3.3.1 -march=i486 -s -O2 hello.c -o hello.o i686-pc-aros-gcc-3.3.1 -s -march=i486 -o hello hello.o The default target is i686, but you can create binaries for i386, i486, i586, i686, pentium or pentiumpro AROS x86 machines. The c compiler part of the port was tried out on various graphics demos from the AROS website, all of them ran successfully. The c++ part of the port is completely untested and the author would appreciate feedback regarding this issue. (cg) [News message: 20. 20.May.2004 Michael Rellstab (ANF) |
Hardware Project: Playstation Gamepads on Amiga Michael Rellstab has invented an interface with which Playstation gamepads may be used on Amiga. Michael writes: "The project consists of three variations, of which one (TwoPSXtoAmiga) is conceived for the direct use of an Amiga joystick port. The other variations are differentiated only by the functions of the buttons and are conceived for "other than Amiga" purposes. The ZIP archive contains detailed documentation, as well as the assembler source for the PIC micro-controller that is required. Also, many thanks to Carsten Siegner: he has offered to host the project. But whoever wants to ask questions about this interface should write me and not bother Carsten! :)" Download the documentation and development data: PSXtoTTL.zip (705 KB) (cg) (Translation: dm) [News message: 20.
