AmigaFun und AOG: FreeCiv Tournament on 13th July, 2002
On Saturday, the 13th of July 2002, a FreeCiv online tournament is being offered in cooperation with AOG. Everyone who has time and money (a residence) is invited. The tournament starts at 2 pm [believe this refers to Central European Time, East Coast US would be 6 hours earlier -DM]. Whoever wants to participate should rendezvouz a half hour before in the IRC channel #Amiga Fun. You'll find the IRC server information under the title link.

It's FreeCiv version 1.12 (Amiga 1.16) that we're using! Here are the URLs to the Amiga and PC versions:

Amiga: freeciv-1.12.0.lzx
PC-Win: freeciv-1.12.0-gtk-win-1.zip

The game is being organized by OEmer and TriMa, come and chat with them if you have questions! (ps) (Translation: dm)

Amiga Future: Question to all Amiga dealers concerning the new child protection
Andreas Magerl writes: "In a short time the new child protection law will come into force. According to this law every game and CD-ROM purchased in Germany must be checked for an age certification. Currently that costs about 500 Euros [about $500 -DM] which makes it uneconomical for every Amiga game. The same thing probably applies to the Mac Market.

I would like to hear from Amiga manufacturers and dealers if they have been able to make sense of this? How are the individual firms reacting? How do they see the future?

Even now, when the law has not yet come into force, should we not react as quickly as possible, otherwise it'll all soon be over with the Amiga market. Sticking our heads in the sand is nothing. Challenges to this law cost 50,000 Euros and no-one can afford that!" (ps) (Translation: dm)

Send your Amiga appointments with the submission of the following data: event date (beginnning and ending), event name, URL, contact email address and optionally an expanded description. IRC: Guidance for #AmigaFun Visitors
The #AmigaFun IRC channel announces: On account of problems with the provider the server acid.de.eu.phat-net.de is offline. Connected to this is also the unfortunate fact that all Phat-Net domains which end in ".de" are unreachable, because their DNS is offline. A solution is being worked on. We recommend for now that you try the following servers:

irc.phat-net.org
amigafun.ma.cx

The HTML chat should work. We ask for your patience and understanding. (ps) (Translation: dm)

New webmaster for DigiBoosterPro.de wanted
There is still a very urgent search for a new webmaster from September the 1st 2002 for the community site of DigiBoosterPro. For the homepage there is a demand of webspace including PHP and MySQL (the page might be adjusted). If there is nobody to find to do this the page unfortunately will be closed.
