Linux: Kernel 3.13.14 with "Longterm Support" and 3.15.10 for X1000 (Update)
The kernel series 3.13 will be updated until 2016 by Canonical. Christian 'xeno74' Zigotzky has compiled version 3.13.14 for the X1000, which among others can be used with the Linux Live-DVD.

The version for the AmigaOne does not include support for CPU frequency scaling any longer due to a lack of precise work of the regulator.

Download: kernel-3.13.14-1-x1000-ubuntu-ppc64.tar.bz2 (7,2 MB) (Changelog)

Update: (07:38, 16.08.14, snx)
Now also kernel 3.15.10 is available. This is the last kernel of the 3.15 series (EOL).

New: Removed CPU frequency scaling support. For further changes see official changelogs: ChangeLog-3.15.9, ChangeLog-3.15.10.

Additional kernel modules:
  • KVM_BOOK3S_64_PR
    • Supports running guest kernels in virtual machines on processors without using hypervisor mode in the host, by running the guest in user mode (problem state) and emulating all privileged instructions and registers.
    • This is not as fast as using hypervisor mode, but works on machines where hypervisor mode is not available or not usable, and can emulate processors that are different from the host processor, including emulating 32-bit processors on a 64-bit host.
  • 3dfx Voodoo graphics card support
  • Network support for AROS hosted
  • Support for four serial ports
  • Bluetooth USB dongle support
  • Kernel tracing with ftrace
  • Linux kernel icon for AmigaOS 4.1 by Tommysammy

CD32-extensions: Project Hermes, CD32 Expansion Board
In his blog, Ian Stedman logs the development of "Project Hermes", which is an extension for the CD32-console. The hardware will have the following specifications:
  • mainly internal solutions (s.b.)
  • 8 MB SRAM
  • Parallel ATA (IDE) and Compact Flash port
  • Floppy-port for Amiga or PC disk drives or Floppy emulators
  • possibly a real-time clock
  • clock port for connecting additional extensions
  • may be totally disabled
According to Stedman, the price for one new board will be approximately 120 pound sterling (about 150 Euro).

The actual Hermes-platine is in the CD32-case - for that it must be connected to a adapter board developed by "kipper" which also has to be bought and which rotates the extension port of the console by 180 degrees. This "CD32 expansion board" can also be used without Hermes and provides ports for the Amiga-RGB-cable and PS/2-keyboards:

The actual date of completion of both projects are not yet known. There are already prototypes of the "Expansion Board". (cg) (Translation: dr)
