SSL vulnerabilities in Amiga software
Harry 'Piru' Sintonen reveals security issues on Amiga SSL implementations. Critical vulnerabilities are found in IBrowse, SimpleMail and other programs.

Summary of the text file found at the title link:
  • IBrowse 2.4 is vulnerable to Man in the Middle attacks (sslsniff)
  • SimpleMail 0.40 is vulnerable to Man in the Middle attacks (sslsniff)
  • AWeb and IBrowse 2.4 support insecure SSL 2.0 and weak ciphers, enabling trivial attacks against the encrypted traffic
  • SimpleMail allows weak ciphers, enabling trivial attacks against the encrypted traffic.
  • AmiSSL is based on old version of OpenSSL, and several security vulnerabilities have been found since
  • YAM 2.9 has secure SSL implementation (barring the deficiencies in AmiSSL itself)

Workbench enhancement: BetterWB 3.3
Similar to AIAB, AmiKit or AmigaSYS, BetterWB is a collection of Workbench enhancements for AmigaOS 3.1, which are useful but rather simple and therefore require low hardware configuration. It is meant for e.g. purists and users of low end Amigas or Minimig users.

BetterWB runs on any Amiga and is provided as disk images. It requires the original disks of Workbench 3.1 (may also work under 3.0, but was not tested) and 8 MB harddrive memory.

Changes:
  • Updated icon.library to version 46.4.332
  • Added showboards command so that we can detect some ACA accelerators (WhichAmiga fails with some of them)
  • Added PowerSnap commodity for enhanced clipboard functionality
  • Redit 1.8 replaces the aging Ed and gives you much more functionality
  • Added a new "IconSet" preferences app that lets you switch between different built-in icon types
  • Plus many more fixes and minor enhancements
