Rupert Hausberger (ANF)

MorphOS: Harddrive encryption with DIL 1.50
DIL ("Device Intervention Layer") written by Rupert Hausberger adds new virtual drives to the system which represent images of a real existing drives (or devices). If you access to such a virtual device the data stream will be changed, encrypted or controled in this way and only then the data stream will be delivered to the real drive.

With AES.dilp there is a new plugin which makes the encryption of the harddrive at the lowlevel base with AES possible. The changes in version 1.50 im detail:

dil.device (1.50)
  • Added support for SHA256 so plugins can now request that seed-type.
  • Added plugin-tags DILI_SeedDIL and DILI_SeedSHA to specify the seed-type used.
  • Now to passphrase-request window does popup another time if the user did a wrong input.
  • Fixed typo DILI_Licence to DILI_License.
  • Changed the DIL_SANEID, all plugins need a rebuild.
  • Bumped dilplugin.h to 1.2

dilPlugInfo (1.2)

  • Added plugin status, whether working with the installed version of DIL.
  • Added plugin tags DILI_SeedDIL and DILI_SeedSHA.

Plugins:
  • aes.dilp (1.00): Initial.
  • blockmon.dilp (1.12)
  • default.dilp (1.12)
  • poly.dilp (1.12): Rebuild with new DIL_SANEID.

Emulator: WinUAE 1.5.3
The latest version of the well-known Amiga emulator WinUAE includes optimizations for RTG-applications, some minor improvements of the chipset emulation and offers you the possibility to link certain file types (*.adf, *.uae...) with the emulator. The changes in WinUAE 1.5.3 in detail:

Fixed bugs:
  • Huge memory leak when switching between RTG and native modes.
  • Writing to disk images didn't work in some games.
  • Configuration cache missing files in subdirectories.
  • Random freeze when switching to fullscreen modes that are smaller than desktop resolution.
  • Second and third mouse/firebutton handling fix (Aladdin, BC.Kid and more)
  • "Always on top", "No taskbar button" and fullscreen color depth change works on the fly.
  • OpenGL fullscreen fixed.
  • Parallel/Serial/MIDI select menus and Input-panel bottom options didn't work correctly.
  • System clock run slightly too fast or slow if chipset refresh rate was different than startup refresh rate (really old bug).
  • OCS NTSC configuration defaulted to PAL refresh rate.
  • Real PCMCIA SRAM card re-insert detection fixed.
  • Fullscreen RTG 16-bit to 32-bit desktop windowed mode switch (CTRL+F12) color errors fixed.

New features:
  • Basic file association settings added to GUI (.uae, .adf etc..)
  • RTG vertical blank wait uses interrupts, no more busy waiting. Should improve performance in many fullscreen RTG games.
  • Added RTG virtual refresh rate configuration to GUI.
  • Added RTG refresh rate next to chipset refresh rate FPS counter.
  • Undocumented OCS "scanline" feature emulated (Ode to Ramon I and II)
  • Midline resolution change improvements (still far from perfect, Disposable Hero, Innovation Part 2)
  • Only accept current latest OpenAL32.dll or newer (old versions can cause crashes during device enumeration)
  • Improved emulation of reads from write-only custom registers (S.E.X. / Fantasys)
  • Syncronize Clock stability improved.

HivelyTracker 1.6
HivelyTracker is a tracker based on the AHX-format. AHX was developed in the 90ies to write music tracks which are similar to the typical chip-sound of SID (sound-chip of C64).

Changes:
  • Right since 1.0, the EDx command was broken! Fixed
  • The range check on Cxx commands was broken. Fixed
  • Now strips the upper nibble of 4xx instrument commands when loading a THX\0 file. AHX always did this since the introduction of filters (THX\1), but AFAIK WinAHX and its derivatives never did

Anubis OS: AROS-developers start new, Amiga-inspired operating system
Some active as well as former AROS-developers want to write a new operating system.

Anubis OS (still empty homepage) is not a Fork that means a branch of AROS because for lack of ressources no compatibility to AmigaOS 3.1 is aimed. Instead of it the Linux-based operating system is supposed to be inspired of AmigaOS. Because many of the developers will be no longer availble for AROS it might yet represent a disunion of the AROS-project.

There will be a first ISO-file with the developing status of Anubis OS around New Year. Mainly Anubis OS will be supposed to represent like Apple's Fusion of Mac OS and BSD to Mac OS X but based on AmigaOS and Linux. A main focus will be an easy to use user-interface. So the Linux basis will provide the functionality (e.g. 2D and 3D graphic drivers) but the user-interface will be inspired by Amiga.

The following AROS-developers are involved: Michal Schulz, Hogne Titlestad, Ola Jensen, Robert Norris, Michael Grunditz, Oliver Brunner, Olivier Tigreat, Pavel Fedin, Stanisław Szymczyk and Paul J. Beel. (snx) (Translation: dr)

OnyxSoft: AllKeys 2.3 and MultiRen 1.66
The OnyxSoft team has published two updates, AllKeys 2.3 and MultiRen 1.66. The first one is based on requests and bug reports of users. If you have further requests or suggestions then please do not hesitate to contact the developers.

AllKeys is a hotkey program for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS which supports most of the multimedia and mouse keys. Additional to minor bug fixes version 2.3 supports different subclasses. Because of this some USB-keyboards should work much better.

MultiRen is a MUI-based Amiga/68k-program with which you can rename many files at once. It also includes a special plugin for MP3-files. In version 1.66 a plugin for ID3v2-tags was added. Additionally the file requester follows the corresponding windows where MultiRen has been opened. (snx) (Translation: dr)

AROS: Standardization of compiler packages
Based on the work of Markus Weiss and Nic Andrews, Stanislaw Szymczyk has unitized the AROS-compiler packages for all AROS-platforms (i386, ppc, x86_64) for gcc 4.2.2 and has integrated them to the AROS-Build-Systems.

This new package is included in the i386-Nightly-Builds and in this way provides a ready-made C/C++-developing environment. Stanislaw Szymczyk currently is working on the self-compiling bounty project which has 415 US-Dollar. (snx) (Translation: dr)
