AmigaOS 4 for PowerUp: Press releases by Hyperion and ACube
As announced at the AmiWest 2007 event, the AmigaOS 4 version for PowerUp-Amigas will be released November 30 (amiga-news.de reported). Meanwhile, both Hyperion Entertainment VOF and ACube Systems Srl. have published official press-releases on their respective website.

AmigaOS 4.0 for Classic Amiga to be released November 30th

Antwerp, Belgium - 23 October, 2007 As announced this weekend in Sacramento, CA during the Amiwest banquet, Amiga OS 4.0 for classic Amiga’s equipped with PowerPC accelerator cards, will start shipping on 30 November 2007.

The version of Amiga OS 4.0 shipping for classic Amiga’s is functionally identical to the version already available for AmigaOne hardware and can co-exist with existing Amiga OS 3.x installations in a dual-boot configuration.

The cardboard packaging will contain a CD, a DD boot-floppy to allow installation without a pre-installed Amiga OS and a printed “Quick Start” manual.

Production and world-wide distribution of Amiga OS 4.0 Classic will be handled by our strategic partners Acube Systems s.r.l.

Due to the wide variety of (often no longer produced) third-party hardware available for the Amiga 1200, Amiga 3000(T) and Amiga 4000 (T), prospective customers are strongly advised to verify whether their hardware is supported by Amiga OS 4.0 Classic before placing their order. A list of supported and unsupported hardware will be going online soon on Acube Systems' website. Depending on overall market-demand for the Amiga OS 4.0 Classic version, additional hardware may be supported in the future.

AmigaOS 4.0 Classic will require at least 64 MB of memory (more is recommended) and at least 200 MB of free hard disk space, as well as a supported PowerPC accelerator (CyberstormPPC or BlizzardPPC).

Hyperion Entertainment once again wishes to thank its loyal customers for their business and support.
