Pegasos: Yellow Dog Linux 4.0
Terra Soft have released version 4.0 of their Linux distribution "Yellow Dog Linux." The distribution is based on the Fedora core 2 and offers KDE 3.3 as well as GNOME 2.6.0 for a desktop interface. The installer and the desktop arrangement present themselves as a completely new appearance. The use of OpenOffice 1.1.1, Rhythmbox 0.8.3, Mozilla 1.7 as well as the development tools glibc 2.3.3 and gcc 3.3.3 are included. 2.6.8 is the version of the Linux kernel in use.

Alongside Macintosh computers with G3, G4, and G5 CPUs the Pegasos 2 is also supported, thanks to the "Freescale Board Support Package." (cg) (Translation: dm)

News about Fun of Computing 2004
This year's Fun of Computing 2004 begins in just a few days. So it's high time some interesting news was released about it.

In the first place we are pleased to officially announce that the firm yellowTAB is listed on the page of exhibitioners. At yellowTAB's stand there's naturally going to be a presentation of their operating system ZETA. ZETA, based on well-known BeOS, will be offered at a special price during the convention.

[MorphOS and Pegasos will be demonstrated by Axel Knabe. Titan Computing will also be there demonstrating their products like Burn-It Pro and Papyrus Office. -dm]

On the subject of AmigaOS 4 there's going to be a special presentation from Jens Langner in which he'll demonstrate the current stage of development of the OS, and talk a bit about the past and the future of the new Amiga OS. Notice is given that this is Jens' private initiative and not an official demo of the OS4 development team or Hyperion.

The team from Anime Development for Amiga (ADA) will be present on Saturday, presenting the latest version of its 3D engine for the game Secret Of My Soul (SOMS).

On Saturday even Matthias Goldisch of the advertisement agency "aktuell" will be there at Fun of Computing, and along with hardware and software for the themes of retro-computing, C64, Amiga and Pegasos, there'll also be computer-themed merchandise, and periodicals like Amiga Plus, Amiga Future and GO64.

For all those who want to keep playing Amiga games, even after a power failure, we have a workable solution. Thanks to the friendly support of Marcus Werum, the inventor of the original Amiga card game, there's now a limited amount of the cardsets available to be handed out on request, at no charge. Only while supplies last, of course!

From the editors of "Amiga Future" there's now also a limited number of examples of their Amiga newspaper, no charge.

You'll find more information about the convention, as well as important tips for getting there and returning, under the appropriate menu selections at the Internet site for Fun of Computing 2004. (ps) (Translation: dm)
