File sharing: ctorrent for AmigaOS and MorphOS (Update)
ctorrent is a console based client for the BitTorrent file sharing network.

The Amiga version has been compiled on a 68040/40. On that system, file hash checking (neccessary when resuming a download) on a 44 MB file takes about 1.5 minutes. During normal operation the CPU usage is below 50 % though.

ctorrent does not allow limiting the uploads.

Direct download: ctorrent-1.3.2.lha (186 KB)

Update: (12:29, 20.06.04, snx)
Meanwhile, #amigazeux has also prepared a MorphOS version (71 KB). Like the AmigaOS version, this port just offers a common bandwith limitation for up- and downloads. (cg)

Kickstart archives: DVD-Release v3.2
"Kickstart archives" is a collection of documents in German and English language about the history of the Amiga and Commodore written by many different authors.

Besides this there are many information about well-known people who have a connection to the Amiga, about the Amiga models and Amiga clones, the AmigaOS and alternative operating systems as well as about Amiga patents and additional materials.

All these topics were connected with an HTML-based index. All documents have been published on DVD with permission of the authors or copyright owners. "Kickstart archives" runs on each platform and can be copied to the hard drive. An integrated search engine has been also added.

The current issue contains some new entries and some topics have been extended or updated. For further information please have a look at the homepage. All problems with case-sensitive file systems should be fixed. Thanks a lot to all who have reported dead links.

The online service has been also improved: Besides the bridgeboard-tutorial, the Amiga-troubleshooter and the MINIX-introduction there is now a topic which is dedicated to the determination of DRAM-chips and SIM-moduls. This might be interesting for those people who wants to upgrade their memory extensions and SCSI/IDE-adapter cards of acceleration with RAM-options.

You can take contact or order on the homepage under "Notes/Contact" and "Notes/Order". Please use the subject "kickstart archives" if you will write e-mails to this topic. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Develop Your Own Game Console
Gerd Kautzmann writes: [translated from German] "I found a page on the WWW that concerns itself with a software development project for all manner of game consoles.

The prototypes are equipped with Z80, 6502, 68HC12 and ARM7 processors. In my opinion this is a very interesting page for all those interested in game console programming and build-it-yourself video computers.

Unfortunately there is no 68k computer there, but in this vein you may be inspired by this." (ps) (Translation: dm)
