amiga.org: Opening of "SoapBox"
With the opening of "SoapBox," the web-portal amiga.org is giving readers and moderators the ability to publish columns, historical items, or other articles.

The Soapbox is divided into categories, at this time there is a category for "historical" documents (announcements and news reports of important companies or persons from the Amiga field) as well as categories in which members of the amiga.org team may release columns about diverse topics. AmiGBG: Retro-Room / AmigaOne-XE and A1200 Magic Pack as Prizes
In relation to the convention AmiGBG in Sweden on the 3rd of April, there's a cooperation between the convention's organizers and the newest Swedish Amiga merchant Guru Meditation to give away a complete AmigaOne XE system.

To do this they've established a Retro-Room, in which a look back may be taken at old acquaintances like Amiga 1000, CDTV, SuperCars, or Flip the Frog. The visitors may also test themselves at the game Rocketz - the winner gets an Amiga1200 Magic Pack.

You'll find more information at the AmiGBG website here. (snx) (Translation: dm)

MorphOS: enqueueTorrent 1.0 released
enqueueTorrent is a commandline tool which helps to integrate MLdonkey support into your favourite Amiga browser.

Instead of Copy'n'Paste an eDonkey or BitTorrent link manually from the browser into the MLdonkey console you can setup a "Send Link to MLdonkey..." or/and a "application/x-bittorrent" MIME type and let enqueueTorrent do the work for you.

enqueueTorrent works with locally and remotely installed MLnet (MLdonkey) servers, so you also can send an URL from IBrowse to your Linux box with just one mouse click.

You can find the download under the title link.

If someone is interested in an 68k port for Classic Amigas (indeed, only useful for remotely installed MLnet server) then write an email to the author. (snx)

mDVD: MorphOS GUI for DVD Playing with MPlayer
J.-P. Jokela has prepared mDVD (9.3 MB), a GUI (graphic user-interface) for playing DVDs with mPlayer under MorphOS. Besides mPlayer you must also have RxMUI installed.

MDVD is a simple selection program for DVD titles, subtitles, and soundtracks, with a few options such as framedrop or full-screen. It does not include search functions or DVD menu support.

The author requests feedback as to desired features, and points out that that one should read the manual before trying out the configuration of the GUI, and set the path for mPlayer as well as the orientation of subtitles and soundtracks. (snx) (Translation: dm)

Die Kleine Gilde II: Training game for arbalest contest available
The next version of the game Die Kleine Gilde II will include a little arbalest shooting contest that will be held about all five years. There is a trainig mode game for that contest available now which is downloadable at my homepage.

Information about "Die Kleine Gilde II":

The game is a round based economy simulation of the late Middle Ages from around 1400 to 1600 but als a realtime strategy game with rol play and life simulation.

Interesting is the possibility to found a family dynasty if the game should be continued after the death of your first game charakter.

You start as a smith, joiner, alchimist, perfumer, publican, thief or sermonizer. After collecting some money you might change your occupation. Further on you can apply for official or clerical administratives to improve your career. (snx) (Translation: ub)

Project: "Become a programmer's sponsor"
Since a couple of days at amigaworld.net an idea is being discussed to improve attraction to program for AmigaOS4 by starting a financial sponsorship. The original idea has been to provide free AmigaOne systems but actually all possibilities of sponsoring are discussed.

Because the idea seems to be attractive to many readers (the initiator said there are considerable funds already) a mailing list has been started which will cover all further discussion. (cg) (Translation: ub)

Open Video Toaster: High number of downloads
Bill Panagouleas writes: Last months launch of Open Video Toaster was a great success. Visitors to the site downloaded over 57 Gigabytes of source code! When you consider that the code to the Amiga Video Toaster Flyer is only about 30MB that is a lot of unique downloads.

As we suspected there has been a very high demand for this code ever since it was first promised and we are now pleased to fulfill that demand.

Bandwith overage fees for last month were $387.01, Open Video Toaster is a victim of its own success. We have many exciting ideas that have yet to be implemented for this site but can't continue to pay such high monthly bandwith costs alone.

If you would like to help support Open Video Toaster, you can do so via Paypal. If you don't have Paypal please click on the Paypal link from http://www.discreetfx.com and join.

Best regards,
Bill Panagouleas

amigaworld.net: End of "Fleecy Moss Q&A"
amigaworld.net told us that the "Fleecy Moss Q&A"-Sessions, where Fleecy Moss has answered questions from Amiga users, will be stopped.

The aim is the improvement of the communication between users and developers in the Amiga area. Because taking part of OS4 developer in the discussions on amigaworld, there is not so much demand on Q&A with Fleecy Moss. (cg) (Translation: gf)
