Registration of MCP (MasterControlProgram)
After a hard data loss just before releasing version 1.40 of MACP I have lost all registrations. Therefore I ask you to registrate yourself again before downloading MCP version 1.40. Then you can download the file under dl.dgroppe.de as usual.

Many bugs have been fixed and additionally there are some new features. If you want to get more details then please read the newsletter or have a look at the history or the readme-file in the archive. (ps) (Translation: dr)

Amiga University site updates and additions
Kevin Orme wrote:
We've got some cool new stuff online for you:

Site Mirrors:
  • Amiga Source is now mirrored on our site, thanks Scott!
  • We still maintain site mirrors of the excellent Blitz Basic, Samplitude Opus (with software downloads) and Amiga Interactive Guide sites, too.

Site Archives:
We have added two GREAT Amiga site archives from the somewhat recent past:
  • National Amiga tech pages: these are full of great tech information, including pinouts, motherboard configs and lots of accelerator information - These were originally done by Greg Scott and used to be on National Amiga's website - thanks to Larry S. and Joe at Archtech in London, Ontario!
  • Spock's Logical Amiga Pages: As many of you may remember, this was a great site that has been offline for some time, unfortunately due to its author, Eric Robertson, passing on last fall. Thanks to Donald Sowell for providing this data as hopefully a little memorial to Eric's fondness for the Amiga and his excellent site.
  • Amiga Realm archive mirrors (12 of them) - Thanks to Paul Andrews for providing data to mirror their site archives!

Additional stuff:
  • 303 Tracker - this is a cool Roland TB303 emulator you can run on your Amiga - software downloads included - thanks to Jeroen Schellekens for his site archive and software
Events page:
  • We have added an easy to find Events page for upcoming Amiga events & shows, and we pledge to keep it current! :) If you have an event or show coming up anywhere in the world, let us know so we can post it immediately.
  • Thanks, keep on coming back and if you have additional Amiga sites for us to help you mirror or archive (to preserve them), just let us know when/how.

Catweasel ISA: Public beta test of the Windows-drivers
The archive that was published on October 1st has been extended by the Windows 2000 drivers today. These are still beta versions of the drivers. We still don't know if they work under Windows XP, because we don't use that operating system on our machines.

Amiga Arena: Hilt II - German Language Disk Version Online

There's now a stand-alone German disk version of the game Hilt II. In the future you will just need the "mission disk" to download new missions.

The missions "Reactor" and "Catacomb" have recently been made available on the Hilt II page (mission disk). Hilt II may be played from the hard-drive or directly from the floppy disk! Please pay close attention to the notes in the separately downloadable German instructions.

Online Magazine: NoCover #103 Released

Today the 103rd issue of NoCover has been released, and it may be viewed on the APC&TCP homepage. This familiar online magazine has forged onward from the "old" editorship and has nothing to do with the future-appearing magazine GetBoinged.

Amiga Speed Is One Year Old

Simon Neumann writes: Amiga Speed is celebrating its first birthday. I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the Speed testers for their help and all visitors for their feedback. You've made it possible for Amiga Speed to improve and expand. That should also continue into the future, so I'm asking you to keep giving me suggestions for improvement and your reactions. This is the only way Amiga Speed can continue and meet the desires of its visitors.

Naturally there are once more new reviews to pore over. Simply take a look under Payback und Q***e.

Hot: Hard-Drives: Can You Fit Any More on There?

The 200 gigabyte Western Digital hard-drive codenamed Drivezilla, originally scheduled for August, has finally been released. The model WD2000BB comes with 2 MB cache, and the WD2000JB with 8 MB cache. Each has three platters, 6 heads, spins at 7200 RPM and uses the UDMA-100 interface. You'll find the complete article under the title link.

Note: At this time there is no possibility with the Acard IDE-to-SCSI adapter (under firmware version 3.64) to make use of the entire hard-drive capacity, because these new drives use a trick to overcome the 137 UDMA-100 limit. The same thing goes for the new drives from Maxtor UDMA-133 hard-drives which exceed 160 gigabytes.

Acard adapters below firmware version 3.60 have a corresponding version sticker on the controller chip. Older adapters (until now only on PC or Mac, and perhaps Mac emulators) may be updated with the new firmware at the support page.
