AROS: New snapshot available (2002-07-03)
Adam Chodorowski has made a new binary and source snapshot release of AROS. You can download it from SourceForge, at the AROS download page (see title link). He hasn't done much testing, but i386-pc does boot on his machine at least. There's a huge number of changes since the last snapshot which he won't go into (since he don't really remember them all). One new thing to play with though is Zune (our MUI clone) which is included in this release (in contrib). (ps)

Amiga Future: Question to all Amiga dealers concerning the new child protection
Andreas Magerl writes: "In a short time the new child protection law will come into force. According to this law every game and CD-ROM purchased in Germany must be checked for an age certification. Currently that costs about 500 Euros [about $500 -DM] which makes it uneconomical for every Amiga game. The same thing probably applies to the Mac Market.

I would like to hear from Amiga manufacturers and dealers if they have been able to make sense of this? How are the individual firms reacting? How do they see the future?

Even now, when the law has not yet come into force, should we not react as quickly as possible, otherwise it'll all soon be over with the Amiga market. Sticking our heads in the sand is nothing. Challenges to this law cost 50,000 Euros and no-one can afford that!" (ps) (Translation: dm)

IRC: Guidance for #AmigaFun Visitors
The #AmigaFun IRC channel announces: On account of problems with the provider the server acid.de.eu.phat-net.de is offline. Connected to this is also the unfortunate fact that all Phat-Net domains which end in ".de" are unreachable, because their DNS is offline. A solution is being worked on. We recommend for now that you try the following servers:

irc.phat-net.org
amigafun.ma.cx

The HTML chat should work. We ask for your patience and understanding. (ps) (Translation: dm)

HSMathLibs final versions nearly finished
HSMathLibs V.44.50 Beta 2 (for MC68881/82) and 8 (for MC68040/060) nearly finished
Matthias Henze writes:
Finally the German version of the HSMathLibs is finished. Betatests are closed and translations are under work. After a very long time there will be a new version of the HSMathLibs again. This is for all registered users. But there will be a new demo version as well. I can't tell an explicit date of release now, it depends on how fast the translations will be finished.

I am sorry that there has been no new version of the HSMathLibs for so long, but there was no other possibility and there were reasons. With my comment regarding the news "HSMathLibs Version 44.50 Beta 2 und 8" from June, the 22nd 2002 I wrote some issues about that. (ps) (Translation: ub)
