Workbench utility: iTidy 1.0
iTidy is a workbench utility for AmigaOS 3.x designed to simplify the organisation of icon layouts and drawer windows.
iTidy can automatically arrange icons within a directory according to configurable layout rules, adjust the size of drawer windows, and optionally process entire directory trees recursively. This makes it particularly useful for large collections such as WHDLoad installations, archive extractions, or project directories with many subfolders. iTidy offers the following features:
  • Automatic Icon Grid Layout - Intelligent icon positioning with configurable spacing and sorting
  • Smart Window Resizing - Aspect ratio control with overflow handling for large directories
  • Recursive Processing - Process entire directory trees in one operation
  • LHA Backup System - Create restore points before making changes
  • Default Tool Validation - Find and fix missing or invalid default tool paths
  • Multiple Sort Options - Folders First, Files First, Mixed, with reverse sorting
As with any tool that modifies Workbench metadata, users are advised to ensure that they have up-to-date backup copies of important directories before performing extensive batch operations. iTidy is implemented exclusively with standard Workbench libraries and does not require MUI or other third-party GUI frameworks. This programme only modifies .info files and does not access user data files.

Further information and the source code are available on GitHub. In addition, the developer has begun work on version 2, which will be recreated with ReAction for Workbench 3.2 and is (quote) "definitely a more enjoyable experience than using Workbench 3 GadTools." (dr)
