Bootable Amiga emulator: AmiBootEnv 0.5.4
"AmiBootEnv" is a bootable Amiga emulation based on Debian Linux and the Amiberry emulator. In contrast to other options available for this task, AmiBootEnv's focus is on a lean and simple to install base emulation, on which the user has to install and configure his preferred AmigaOS versions and applications himself. The developer has released a video illustrating the installation process: first a current Debian Linux without an X Windows environment is installed, then AmiBootEnv is downloaded via wget and installed using a batch script. After rebooting the machine, you can now select in a graphical boot manager if you want to emulate an A500, A1200 or an AROS workstation.

Other features of AmiBootEnv:
  • Automatic mount / unmount of USB storage devices (available within emulation under "Volumes:").
  • Detects Greaseweazle floppy drives before starting emulation.
  • Detects hard drives (both directories and native devices) before starting emulation.
  • Integrates the rEFInd boot manager on UEFI systems to provide an Amiga boot selector.
  • Includes a basic AROS system with Directory Opus for importing ROMs, ADFs, HDFs etc. from removable storage "The Amiga Way".
